Eating Disorder Treatment in Minnesota

Eating disorder treatment in Minnesota covers care for anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and related conditions, including when an eating disorder occurs alongside alcohol or drug use. Listings on RehabSeekers.com show which Minnesota programs report eating disorder services, the levels of care they offer, and the ways to pay they accept.

Medical safety comes first, because an eating disorder can cause a medical emergency, and a doctor’s evaluation is the usual first step. Listing details are drawn from government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings and information the providers supply themselves, so confirm openings and coverage directly with each program.

Common questions about Eating Disorder Treatment

Answered from what is listed here.

Which Minnesota cities have eating disorder programs?

Eating disorder program listings in Minnesota cluster around Minneapolis first, with Duluth, Rochester, Saint Paul and Richfield following in that order. For someone outside those areas, Minneapolis, Duluth and Saint Cloud are the larger cities within reach, and intake staff can say whether a program's schedule works for a family.

Rehab Centers in Minneapolishttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/minnesota/minneapolis/
Do eating disorder programs in Minnesota take Minnesota Medical Assistance?

Medica, HealthPartners, Itasca Medical Care and Hennepin Health are among the health plans that deliver Minnesota Medical Assistance, and coverage for eating disorder care follows the plan a member belongs to. Acceptance also varies from program to program.

Before an assessment, a family can ask intake staff whether the program is in network for that plan and whether a referral or prior approval is needed for the level of care being considered.

Are there eating disorder programs near a river in Minnesota?

Within 25 miles of a river sit nearly all of the eating disorder programs in Minnesota, at a median of about 7.1 miles from each program to the nearest one. The most-named rivers near these programs are the Minnesota River, the Credit River and the Rum River.

Rehab Centers Near Rivershttps://rehabseekers.com/attractions/rivers/

What levels of eating disorder care are available in Minnesota?

Minnesota offers eating disorder care across five levels, from weekly outpatient visits to 24-hour inpatient care, and each listing shows which of these a program reports. In between sit intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization and residential programs, so a person can move up or down as medical and emotional needs change.

Medical stability is the main dividing line. Inpatient hospital care is for someone whose body has become medically unstable, while residential care suits a person who is stable but needs round-the-clock support because outpatient help is not interrupting daily symptoms. A physician or eating disorder team decides after an exam and lab work.

Partial hospitalization fills most of the day on most days of the week, including more than one meal on site, while intensive outpatient runs several hours a day on a few days. Residential and day treatment usually need a health plan’s sign-off first.
