Healing Transitions – Raleigh (Goode Street) Reviews
What patients and their families say about Healing Transitions sits alongside the licensing and accreditation detail on this page. Reading the two together gives a fuller picture of this Raleigh program than either gives alone.
Staff lacks empathy and compassion unless they know you. First red flag. Very loud, tons of people. Not for someone who can't do large crowds and noise. Staff took it personal when I mentioned I couldn't stay. They… brushed me off completely. If you want to leave and don't make arrangements within 15 minutes, they cold heartedly kick you off the property. People in active addiction trying to get sober can make it here I believe, but it's an extremely intensive and long program focused on sobriety. You must conform immediately or you'll be treated badly or rudely. They take your phone and tell you that you can't have it for 9 months. They didn't even offer me to stay in the drop in shelter. They just waved me on as if it was an insult that I had anxiety due to the crowds and loudness of the place.
They acting like am starting drama. When the blue sign says smoke near automobile smoking area. I didn't know it was certain spot. Take the sign down then.
Do not go to healing transitions I have gone twice to detox seeking assistance and both times have been rudely and unprofessionally rejected. I came in last night actively drunk and the staff were rude and… unprofessional and refused treatment. They gave me a piss test and claimed that I had nothing in my system even though I'd been drinking and had been smoking all day and was actively drunk. They refused to listen or give me a breathalyzer test or give me a chance to say "give me a breathalyzer test because I'm actively drunk" and started talking about how previously I'd only utilized their drop in shelter services. They acted like because I hadn't been to detox before and had only utilized the drop in shelter it excluded me from having a drug or alcohol problem I'd like assistance with. They asked if I wanted to join their program but refused to let me answer and started talking about how I "belonged" in the drop in shelter. The drop in shelter staff were beyond extremely rude and asked why I was so late but refused to stop interrupting me and talking over me anytime I tried to answer. When he finally shut up long enough to let me answer he started claiming that my explanation didn't add up/didn't make sense even though it was the truth. 0 out of 10 would not recommend
I got to Healing Transitions in April of 2025 after a lifelong battle with addiction. This is the third treatment center I have attended since 2007. I honestly would be dead if not for this place. It is the best… decision I have ever made . I am blessed to be a part of the miracles that take place there. This place has given me the tools to finally be able to sober again after several almost deadly relapses. THANK GOD for this place. If you are looking for a place to pat you on the back and tell you that everything is going to be alright , this isn't that place. If you are struggling with addiction, I am here to tell you that this place works, but what you get out is what you put in. You do a little , HT will do a little; if you do a lot ,HT will do a lot. THE DISEASE OF ADDICTION WILL KILL YOU . IT HAS NO MERCY. HT taught me how to be responsible and hold myself accountable. They are not going to sugarcoat things. It will save your life if you are willing to go to any lengths. Healing Transitions is a valuable stepping stone to give everyone an honest chance at getting their life together. It's the only place around like itself. If you are an addict or alcoholic please give it a chance. You are worth it. I will be forever grateful for this wonderful program. 💛.
Went there to visit someone
I place supposedly to help the US Citizen men have unidentified people (don’t wearing any staff 🆔 ID 🪪 ) that treating and giving unwelcome greeting to the men more in need. Not LOVE 💔 at all. The aggressively,… heartless and harassed need to stop ✋ 🛑 in the places that HELP our people.
Only spoke with on the phone but polite and sincerely care about the situation.
Healing Transitions has a deeply concerning history of rehiring staff who were previously terminated for inappropriate relationships with shelter participants. In one particularly disturbing case, a re-hired employee… entered into a romantic relationship with a participant and was later charged with domestic violence against that individual. Despite the seriousness of these incidents, the facility has no clear policies in place to prevent or address these ethical violations. These failures have been consistently ignored by both leadership and the board of directors. The lack of accountability is further reflected in the actions of Executive Director Chris Budnick, who is currently in a relationship with a former participant who later joined the staff. This raises major concerns about the organization’s HR practices, ethical oversight, and the professional boundaries upheld by those in leadership roles. I have repeatedly raised these issues directly with both the board and executive leadership. Despite these efforts, they have refused to adopt even basic policy changes that would protect both participants and staff from further harm. I possess extensive documentation—including audio recordings—in which members of the leadership team openly acknowledge these ethical breaches. I have attempted to share this information with local media outlets, but have received no response, likely due to Healing Transitions’ media partnership with WRAL. If you are considering this facility for a loved one—especially someone under the age of 25—I strongly urge you to reconsider. Healing Transitions is not a safe environment for vulnerable individuals, particularly young adults in early recovery. I am willing to share this documentation with anyone committed to advocating for this underserved population and demanding accountability from this institution.
Don’t go here. I got fed better in Federal Prison. At least they have food requirements that make sure you eat. Cereal no milk. Numerous mornings. That’s what I was served. They want you to use water. Got fed a peanut… butter sandwich for dinner another night. And don’t have a snack with you, you might get kicked out. Oh and don’t get your body right. Working out, I mean. Which is good for the body, mind and soul. You might get hit with a sexual frustration charge. There are way better places than this. You deserve better when you’re fighting for your life.
Healing Transitions is a true blessing to our community. As a volunteer nurse, I've had the pleasure of working with the staff and the participants. During that time, I've seen kindness and compassion that is beyond… compare to anything I've ever experienced. My heart will always be with those I worked with at that time. May God bless them, and all the lives they change!
I really don't have a bad word to say about Healing Transitions.I didn't finish the whole program on my own accord. But the staff is awesome. Mr Raeford,Mr Dickens,Mr Hubbard really great guy's.. The Detox staff Josh… and Timmy,Richard I owe them three a lot.. They really teach you a lot about yourself and your addiction. I am able to use what I learned to help keep me clean and sober.
I went through this program in 2019 and became an alumni. It changed my life and helped me develop a solid network of people in recovery in this area. Unfortunately, after 2.5 years of sobriety, I moved away from… Raleigh and stopped working a recovery program and ended up relapsing and losing everything over the course of a few months. What makes this place so special to me is that when I called, they sent someone to Wilmington to pick me up and brought me back into the program... And I've never had to pay a penny for any of their services! If you want to change your life and are willing to do the work, this place always has its doors open!
I was there 16 years ago & I learned so much about myself the best lesson I learned was if I make a bad decision there are consequences I am not a victim the world has not done me wrong ! A victim mindset made me… miserable
I was there for about 3 months. I think it was the best place to be. The only reason I left is because I caught covid. If you looking for a place to go this is the place. Now I have a great job and a car and a place to… stay. This place changed my life and I came away from here with great friends and great life choices. Thank you
You can find what you are looking for here. I did. I just didn’t know what I was looking for. Be honest!
A human being needs at least four ounces of meat, preferably from a ruminate, three times a day. And cream, what rises to the top, like silver chippers.
The worst place I have ever been too. They talk to you like you are worthless a the food they feed you be old. I caught food poison. The people in the program will steal your belongings and the people in charge will do… nothing about it. Showers are filthy an the kitchen is to with rats in the back of the kitchen. This place needs to be inspected.
I have been assisting a homeless gentleman obtain housing, and when signing him up for utilities, found out he was in arrears for a substantial amount for a past residence. He mentioned it to Healing Transitions, and… they immediately stepped up to assist him and pay the entire bill so that he could be able to move in. They reacted immediately, which was crucial in the situation. What a compassionate organization! I can’t say enough about them…
Recovery like most change is not easy yet I've found the Healing Transitions a remarkable gateway to any and all regardless of race, age, gender, religion or lack or religion an open door to all who wish to journey on… the path of sober living and a life full of service to others while establishing ones self into the broader community of humanity. Healing Transitions has lead me to a life I could have never imagined over the last 22 years when I arrived shortly after there doors opened, including but limited to full time employment with the State of NC over 20 years, tax payer rather than consumer of government services, advocate for treatment and recovery services in Wake County and beyond, along with numerous interactions of service with other community based change agents. Thank you Healing Transitions for all you do and for keeping the doors open for treatment services on demand for those yet to come.
Healing Transitions embodies having an open door as many times as it takes, no matter what. They're the epitome of grace, and our community depends on them for recovery and emergency overnight shelter services. HT… really is the last house on the block!
DO NOT believe the negative reviews on here. There is absolutely no better rehab in the world! This place saved my life!!!
