Best Rehab in the country
I've been a fan of Jaywalker Lodge for years, and my respect for what they've built has only grown over time. As a fellow behavioral health professional who has referred clients to Jaywalker and spent time on the ground… in Carbondale with their team, I've had a front-row seat to what this program actually produces, and it's the real thing. Let me start with the obvious: the location is extraordinary. Carbondale is one of the most beautiful places in this country, and Jaywalker leverages that setting in a way that actually matters clinically. Their clients aren't just staring at mountains, they're experiencing all that incredible place has to offer (skiing, mountain biking, etc.). That connection to the outdoors isn't a selling point, it's part of how men rediscover what it feels like to be alive. But what makes Jaywalker truly exceptional isn't the scenery, it's the community. Carbondale has embraced this program in a way I've never seen in any other treatment market. You can't walk through town without running into an alumnus who stayed, built a life, found work, and put down roots. I've seen this firsthand - walking those streets, talking with people who came for treatment and never left because they finally had something worth staying for. That kind of living proof is rare and powerful. I've sat with their clinical and leadership team, seen how they operate up close, and walked away more impressed each time. Their communication is exceptional, their collaboration with families is thoughtful, and the sustained recoveries I've seen in referred clients speak for themselves. This is a team that isn't content with where they are, they're always evolving, always raising the bar, and they hold themselves to a standard the rest of the industry should be studying. The leadership operates with genuine integrity. That's not something you can fake long-term, and it's certainly not something you can fake in person. Jaywalker has been proving it for years. I tell people this often and I mean it sincerely: if I ever needed treatment myself, Jaywalker Lodge would be my first call.
Jaywalker saved our son and helped us to show up in the way he needed us in recovery. Despite being healthcare professionals, we had no idea how to support our son. He is sober and married with 3 beautiful sons just 5… years later. We know sobriety is a daily struggle but what Jaywalker provided were the tools he needed and a community of support and accountability. We can't say enough about the journey and support. We are forever changed as a family. Thank you JW.
Jaywalker Lodge would without question be my top choice for treatment for a young man. I have been to Jaywalker and seen firsthand the amazing work they do with young men seeking treatment for substance abuse and mental… health disorders. Owner Bobby Ferguson, CEO Bill Anuszewski, KC Gooding, Stefan Bate, Rachel Miller, and their entire team do what they say they are going to do with a singular mission. Beautiful campus in a beautiful mountain community. I have referred several young men to Jaywalker who have blossomed into productive and useful whole people.
I have had the privilege of visiting the Jaywalker campus and interacting with their team on multiple occasions. They are a first class organization and provide very high quality long-term treatment for men. I highly… recommend!
My review is a warning to those with loved ones that have mental health issues where drinking is a secondary problem to self medicate. I WARN greatly that this is a Sobriety bootcamp and great for those that addiction… and dependency are the core issues. JW speaks with their education to be able to manage true mental health or personality disorders but our experience is a complete opposite. Mental illness- Do not trust. Just because they say they can handle it, they proved they can't.
My experience at Jaywalker Lodge had a lasting impact on my life. Alice is an exceptional therapist who is insightful, honest, and deeply invested. The work I did with her continues to guide how I approach recovery and… relationships today. The outdoor programming at Jaywalker is a huge part of what makes it special. Skiing and fly fishing multiple times a week is not just a perk, its therapeutic. It builds confidence, connection, and real camaraderie. The bonds formed there are genuine and lasting. Stephen Hout and Nick Said are incredible staff members and became close friends of mine during my time there. Their support, leadership, and example made a real difference day to day. Marley Nedlin is also an outstanding psychotherapist. She had me figured out almost immediately and told me things about myself that I had not even recognized after just one session. I am now living in Vancouver, over two years sober, have graduated from university, and have started my own second-stage recovery house with plans to expand very soon. I truly credit Jaywalker Lodge with helping me build the foundation that made all of this possible.
I’ve worked in the substance abuse treatment field for many years, and Jaywalker truly stands out. The level of care, integrity, and genuine compassion here is rare. This isn’t just a program, it’s a community that… changes lives.
I recently attended a professional weekend at Jaywalker and had the opportunity to go behind the scenes, meet staff at every level, and hear directly from alumni. The transparency, culture, and integrity of the program… stood out immediately. As an owner in the treatment space, I was impressed by how clearly Jaywalker lives its mission. The staff are deeply invested, and the alumni stories reflected real growth, accountability, and long-term recovery. I’m genuinely confident in the work they’re doing and look forward to a meaningful collaboration. Thank you to Rob, KC, Dennis, Stefan, Rachel, JP, Geoff, Chef Brian and the rest of the team for the work you’re doing and for the way you welcomed us into the process.
This is a great place to get sober. I would strongly encourage anyone struggling with substance abuse to look into jaywalker. The most important thing about my stay there was the introduction to a 12 step program. If… you are staying there get as involved as you can. Jaywalker is a great place to get to get sober, and working a program of recovery is what will keep you sober.
Jaywalker Lodge has a team of men and women who deeply care about the sobriety of the people in their care.
This was a once in a lifetime experience I never would in a million years have expected I would have and love. Yes it’s a rehab and is a big commitment, most notably the financial aspect. Yet it was totally worth the… investment both in terms of all the money me and my family spent for me to go through yet even more so the time. I had gone to one treatment center before I ended up doing Jaywalker just over a year ago. The difference was I really felt the love and support from pretty much everyone involved with Jaywalker from the time that I toured throughout my stay. This is for me the most important part of what speaks volumes about Jaywalker. From the staff to the alumni program to the guys I went through with it doesn’t get much better. All I have to say really is if you give yourself over to the program and allow it to work it can prove life changing. I was beyond lucky that I happened to have grown up and still be living in the Aspen area where Jaywalker is located. I am forever grateful that I finally came to terms with my addiction and got myself checked in and stuck with it. I never gave sobriety a real thought whatsoever until my life blew up in my face. Over sixteen months later having stuck with it my life is so much better than I could have imagined and it’s all thanks to Jaywalker. The biggest thing I would say about Jaywalker is if you do it and get through your time you’ll be a part of an amazing alumni program that for me is like an extended family of mine. So many of these guys for me are like brothers at this point and it would have never happened had I not just grown the hell up and confronted my problems. I could rave all day long about Jaywalker suffice it to say I highly recommend it.
Jaywalker saved my life and gave me a second chance to start in on a new path, when I had absolutely no options left. This place is like a home to me and always will be. I came in reeling from years of selfish drug use.… Jaywalker taught me how to live life with love and empathy. I can say with all honesty that jaywalker laid the ground for me to have a chance at life, slowly giving me the space to learn how to live it, enjoy it, love it, and grow.
Watching our son struggle was one of the most difficult things to experience. We learned about Jaywalker and their program for young men. KC Gooding, from Jaywalker, was instrumental in talking with us and our son… reassuring us this was the right program for our son. The moment we arrived to Jaywalker we knew our son would be safe surrounded by the welcoming and professional staff. His peers were engaging and encouraging. While our son was working his program we worked with Jaywalker’s family counselor and participated in weekly group meetings via zoom. Our son has learned the tools to build confidence and take responsibility for rebuilding his life. The support our son received from the Jaywalker staff, his Jaywalker peers and the Carbondale community have been a Godsend. Parents of a Jaywalker Alum from 2025
Best program out there! I very highly recommend . Jaywalker Lodge gave me my life back & Jaywalker showed me how to enjoy a life in Sobriety. Their clinical team is fantastic & I made lifelong friends & lifelong… memories thanks to Jaywalker Lodge. Most importantly I learned how to work a 12 Step Program. The groups are very helpful, & you will find that there are plenty of others that can relate to you & your struggles with Addiction. I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities that Jaywalker provided me to get my life back on track. Jaywalker, their staff, & alumni are like family to me! You will find that their program is like no other & truly is the best.
Centered in beautiful Carbondale, CO, Jaywalker Lodge offers an extended continuum of care and the “Open Community Model of Care”, with a strong focus on the 12-Step philosophy, plus a stellar staff offering client as… well as family, care and support. All of this contributed to my decision to offer this gift of recovery to my son. What a special gift of serenity it became.
i am a 55 yo male with a history of 40 years of alcoholism/opiate/meth addiction. because of the experience at jaywalker i now enjoy a new lease on life. currently 15 months sober. i made life long friends and enjoy a… job i never would've considered working at before my recovery. i attended 3 recovery centers before i arrived at jaywalker and it is by far the best.
Jaywalker Lodge saved my life. The open community model is exactly what I needed so I didn’t feel like I was just locked away. Through Jaywalker I was able to build an amazing life I had no idea was possible.
I went through Jaywalker Lodge after I had burned my life down around me. Their program taught me discipline, self-respect, and how to find joy in sobriety. Through trauma therapy, I was also able to confront and begin… to heal from my own trauma, something I had avoided for years in my addiction. Most importantly, Jaywalker gave me a community of men to walk this path with. After six years away, I chose to move back to the valley to reconnect with the program and the people I first met here. That sense of community—something I could never build in my active addiction—has been life-changing. Today I’m happy and sober, and that’s in no small part thanks to my time at Jaywalker and the foundation it gave me to create a new life.
I had been to good treatment centers that provided an adequate 12-step and clinical education before. The difference with Jaywalker was the community I have been able to establish. Where other places showed me the ropes… and threw me back into a city, Jaywalker gave me a foundation to maintain my recovery. Jaywalker also made the fun side of recovery available to me through numerous activities and expeditions. This was imperative because in the past I would get sober and sit around thinking my life was over. Here I learned that my life had just begun. I cannot stress enough how crucial getting involved has been for me though. Jaywalker provides opportunities, but it was still up to me to take action in my recovery.
When I came to Jaywalker I thought it was going to be just another futile attempt at treatment to go along with all the others over the course of my ten year drug addiction. I believed I was too far gone. Thanks to this… unique program and the people there, I now have a life I never imagined and celebrated 4 years sober last week. I’m not special, if I can do it I promise you can too. This place saved my life and I am forever grateful
Jaywalker Lodge was a one of a kind experience. As an alumni its the best time I never want to have again. From the activities to the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual work, the staff and clinical team create… an environment of appreciation and value and combine it with practical life in the great Colorado outdoors. For me, it was such an eye opener to how small my little bubble had become, and made me realize how much I had taken the little things for granted. This place was an amazing wake up call that saved my life, and for any people or families struggling know that you can count on Jaywalker to do the same.
Like any rehab facility, you get out what you put in. The difference here is the variety of avenues both clinical and therapeutic that kept me engaged, which really added depth, sustainability and desire to my recovery.
I went through almost 4 years ago and JW really did change my life. The on site Techs are the best. Shoutout to my man Sam. Sam was one of the first people I met out in CO. Not really knowing what to expect Sam and all… the other techs made my transition seamless. The people you are surrounded by in JW are the people you want to be around. Like minded individuals all looking to better their lives. From my own experience the environment JW is in is incredible. All the outdoor activities and not to mention Carbondale is the best place with the best humans. You’ll create your own community here while being apart of several other ones.
Jaywalker has been an integral part of my life and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
We were at the end of our tether. Multiple interventions and treatments had seemed to somehow reinforce the addiction that my son was struggling with. I read a book that mentioned Jaywalker and thought, give it a… chance. Fresh air, good food, exercise, and community were all different concepts than what we had experienced in the processed, stale and formulaic world of treatment to that point. I won’t say that his journey was without any hitches (and who amongst us could say that?!) but what I will say is that Jaywalker stuck by him. Through crises, relapses, poor judgement and ultimately the tough love which helped him to get, and remain sober. It has been eight years and my son is still with JW (professionally), and an active member of the vibrant sober community that exists in the valley. I am forever grateful for Jaywalker, truly.
Jaywalker has been the exact right fit for our son who had tried rehab before . Their guidance combined with education , expectations and a whole -family approach has been a healing equation for our family. Our son… continues on in the graduate program and will reach 1 year of sobriety soon with a full time job, great roommates and the opportunity to have a life ! We couldn’t be more positive about our experience . The entire team has helped us become whole as they have given us our son back. We are so very grateful for the opportunity to participate in their mission. Very blessed!
When I first came to Jaywalker, I didn’t fully understand how much my life was about to change. What I found here was not just a treatment center, but a community of people who genuinely cared about me and wanted to see… me succeed. The staff guided me with compassion, patience, and accountability, and for the first time in a long time, I began to see hope and purpose in my life again. My family made the decision to send me here, and while the cost of a private treatment center was hard for all of us to take in at first, it turned out to be the best investment we could have made. They supported me when I couldn’t support myself, and Jaywalker gave me the tools to rebuild my life in a healthier, stronger, and more meaningful way. I am forever grateful for the opportunity, the relationships I’ve built, and the ongoing support that continues to guide me even after completing the program. Jaywalker changed my life.
