About Sagent Behavioral Health – Ankeny
Sagent Behavioral Health operates from 1105 North Ankeny Boulevard in Ankeny. The site sits in Polk County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Ames, Boone and Johnston. Iowa draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Outpatient care is delivered here, alongside telehealth appointments. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Care offered spans more than one level, which means someone can move between them without changing provider.

Treatment Services at Sagent Behavioral Health
Outpatient care runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Sagent Behavioral Health Address, Location and Contact Information

Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

My experience with this group is one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. I feel that they get me and are actually wanting to help not just talk about the issues and not help me move forward and get to where I… don’t need to keep going to counseling. They seem to be truly interested in helping me heal and not milking me for money.
Alyssa & Cheryl have been amazing with giving me optimal advice on working through my emotions and my feelings. Helping me work through challenges I’ve been resonating with for some years now. They truly make me feel… seen, and feel heard. This has been the best care I have received in years. Thank you Alyssa! Thank you Cheryl!
Shyrl has really been helping me get back on track with my meds for my depression and anxiety. Thank you!
I have now had my second appointment here. I find my therapist friendly and relatable. Concerned and compassionate. The reception staff is super friendly and kind. Also, fun to chat with while making appointments.
I went to LifeWorks in Ankeny for therapy and really liked it while my original therapist was there. Unfortunately, after she left, I was told I’d receive a call to get scheduled with someone new....but that call never… came. After nearly three months of waiting, I decided to follow up myself. The person I spoke with was kind, but I was told the only in-person providers available in Ankeny were male, even though my previous therapist had said I’d be set up with a female provider which was my personal preference. It was disappointing that no one followed up or seemed to look into who I was supposed to see. Ultimately, I have decided to go elsewhere. LifeWorks was a nice place while I was there, but between the multiple provider changes and the lack of follow-through, I’m leaving on a neutral note... not upset, just a bit disappointed things ended this way.
Rachel is awesome! I’ve only had two appointments and she is by far the best counselor i’ve had
Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming, The receptionist staff were very kind and helpful. I saw Rodney, which I was hesitant at first because I've only ever seen female therapists, but even after one session I feel… like I received a lot of of helpful input.
Has been a great support to me through a tough time.
Please do better! Not sure why the psychiatrist at this place thinks that a forwarded email to their patient will be accepted at any laboratory? The work order has to come directly from the doctor either via fax or… email. When I contacted them to have this sent the person on the phone was helpful but the fax they sent was the size of a thumbnail and therefore ineligible. We then had to wait for them to resend the fax so we could get simple blood work done. This place needs to have more foresight into how other clinics work. Something that could have been done in 10 minutes took us an hour or more. Such a waste of time and thinking about going somewhere else.
Very helpful and attentive to my individual needs.
We have had a great experience with our son. He looks forward to his appointments.
An absolutely disgusting excuse for a therapists office. Jessica is an unprofessional and unorganized person. She moved from the Ankeny location to the WDM location without notifying her client, so when the client went… to Ankeny there was no longer time to drive to WDM and make her appointment. She still paid for that service. Then Jessica sent her to the wrong address for the WDM location causing her to miss another appointment, leading the client to drop Jessica and not pay. Life Works has harassed her for both payments, even after they were given proof that she paid for the first missed appointment. Nobody in this building is intelligent enough to keep track of billing, inform clients of where they are supposed to go, or pick up a phone. They certainly aren't intelligent enough to be providing services to anybody. If you wanna throw money away to a greedy company, go here, if you want health care, go anywhere else.
