Sanilac County CMHA – Sandusky Detox and Rehab Services

The register shows Sanilac County CMHA – Sandusky providing intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Day programming is scheduled, with evenings spent at home. A proper assessment sets the level rather than leaving it to guesswork, and it is worth asking for one explicitly.

The listing records a single focus rather than combined treatment, so anyone needing both should confirm what is available. Medication and talking treatment run together under clinical oversight. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

Sanilac County CMHA – Sandusky Address, Location and Contact Information

The facility address is 217 East Sanilac Avenue, Sandusky, Michigan, 48471. Sanilac County covers this area. Provision extends to the wider area, so check the journey before you set off. Journey time and parking are not trivial details when treatment runs several times a week over months.

It is worth calling first to confirm access, parking and the shape of a first visit. If getting there is hard, ask about a remote first appointment. Reception hours vary, so a call that goes unanswered once is worth repeating rather than treating as a dead end.

I am a Registered Nurse who desperately needed direction for a loved one who was, let’s just say, “not in a good place.” I spoke with Crisis Intervention & Gina was AMAZING. I could not have done this without her… guidance. Even being in the medical field, I had no clue where to begin. Thus far, I cannot say enough good about this facility, even the lady at the desk was nice. (Croswell office) From now on we will go to the Sandusky office as that’s where Gina is primarily. So many wonderful programs out there that I never knew of!

I was receiving appointment reminders for someone I do not know. I called to ask if they could remove my number and email from the account and Kim was absolutely horrible on the phone. She was very rude and not helpful… at all. She refused to help or remove my information from the account and said "Whatever, can't help you". Horrible management!!

They didn't want to give my child a diagnosis due to his age. Was very inconsiderate on how we felt what was wrong. They weren't concerned at all about him as they pushed him away from his true diagnosis. We pretty much… begged for help and understanding basically told we didn't know what we were talking about even with a diagnosis he couldn't get no help. Strange that they said sanilac cmh has different rules then others but they go by state guide lines. They are rude and I believe certain case managers are on power trips instead of caring for your child and his needs!!

I came here last year (2024) and my monthly payment was $51. I had to stop going because work got too busy. I come back this year and it's been less than a year but now they want to charge me $256 month! I'm very… unhappy about this and this was my last straw for getting help. Since I can't afford mental health services anymore I don't know what to do. Seems they care more about money than actually helping people to charge me over 200% more than last time. And these people actually had the nerve to mark my discharge paper has "satisfied." BS I am NOT satisfied but if it makes your paperwork look good I guess you're happy

The psychiatrists are horrible, do not hear you, and talk to you disrespectfully. It's like pulling teeth when trying to get the medication that is properly needed, especially when you get clearance from your pcp for it.

The worst place to go! They called my doctor telling them not give me anymore of my medication. That they were going to take care of me went to get a refill and they told me no I now have to find a new doctor and new… shrink. The shrink i had as well was not great at all she judged me before she even got to know me.

The only place that my child has ever felt understood by. A great place for autistic children. This place and the people who work here are truly the only people who I really trust working with my son. He is so good with… them. He was so happy when he would come home. I recently switched centers & could notice a dramatic change in his behavior. He wasn't communicating as effectively, slowly over time he stopped communicating completely, ans has regressed to screams and noises. He was starting to become verbal and I wish I would have never switched. This place is truly wonderful.

I was with sanilac CMH for about 8 years. I definitely do NOT recommend it. If anything, CMH has made my mental health worse. I suffer from suicidal thoughts and tendencies and I always felt on eggshells trying to talk… to them about anything. Any mention of even having a brief thought of suicide would put me back in the emergency room to wait for a psych evaluation where I would have to lie to get out of it. Because of that I usually bottled up how I actually felt and talked about small things on the surface. Not only that, I was hospitalized back in December of 2022 where I received proper diagnosis for my mental illnesses as CMH had never bothered to properly diagnose and treat my conditions. I was diagnosed with PTSD and gender dysphoria at the psychiatric facility. Then after my stay I had visited my psychiatrist at CMH and none of my diagnosis from the facility were on there. It had took them until about August of this year to finally put my proper diagnosis on the papers. Not only that, the psychiatrist in which I saw here was frustrating to say the least. I would go in for medication reviews and it was always: height check, weight check, “how have you been doing? you’ve been doing alright. okay i refilled your meds.”, step out of. the office, receive papers with my meds and diagnosis listed on them and then I left. Not only that, when I had come to CMH at age 11 after a suicide attempt I was put on medication by the same psychiatrist. The medication (abilify) had caused me to gain about 50-60 pounds during the year I was on it. Mind you, I was already struggling with my body and had mentioned the weight gain to my team at CMH and it was always brushed over. Because of this completely going under the radar, I developed an eating disorder in which I am still struggling with to this day. It was only a year on the medication when I was eating about every other hour and was nearly in the obese category for my height that they had finally listened to me and switched my medication. I have ceased treatment with CMH and have switched to a doctor over in North Branch. I have also switched over to a private therapist in the area and have been doing much better since then. In conclusion if you are searching for mental health treatment, especially for your child, I don’t recommend that you go here.

If I could give these guys 0 stars then I would. The whole place is full of robotic people who make you talk on computers in order to talk to your psychiatrist. My therapist was amazing so I'll give them that but after… I met my psychiatrist I gave up on this place. I walked into my appointment with my psychiatrist (Christine M. Cucchi) and she just started berating me for missing 2 appointments but one of which was because i called them and told them i wasn't gonna be able to make it but I scheduled a new appointment, then she barely talked to me about anything else other then the fact that she needed to refill my meds. At this point I'm going to the doctors to get my meds refilled because atleast they don't shame you for missing 1 appointment within a month

CMH saved my life. 2 of the 3 psychiatrists I have seen there have been awesome. My adolescent therapist was amazing, and my current therapist on the adult side is wonderful and very helpful. The front desk staff is… very kind and they learn your name and get to know you. You're not just another client to them. I am always called in for appointments promptly, and if there ever is going to be a wait I am notified of why and how long I can be expected to wait. My only complaint is there isn't that much seating in the waiting room so on busy days I have to sit next to people I don't know (not always easy for someone with social phobia). Overall, I would recommend CMH to anyone in need of personalized help.
