Rehabs That Take Carrum Health

Carrum Health is a benefits company that self-insured employers add to their health plans, and some employer programs can include coverage for drug and alcohol treatment, varying by employer and type of care.California centers on this page name Carrum Health on their own websites. Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Is Carrum Health insurance?

No, Carrum Health is not an insurance company. It is a Centers of Excellence benefit that self-insured employers add alongside their existing medical plan, contracting directly with selected specialty providers at pre-negotiated bundled prices. Members stay enrolled in plans such as UnitedHealthcare, Surest, Anthem or Blue Shield and use Carrum voluntarily.

Founded in 2014 and based in San Francisco, Carrum sells no HMO, PPO or metal-tier plans, so eligibility comes only from an employer plan that includes it.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Does Carrum Health cover rehab?

Yes, where the employer has added Carrum's substance use service line. The program covers detox, residential or inpatient rehabilitation, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, standard outpatient treatment, recovery coaching, virtual care and medication-assisted treatment during care, all delivered at treatment centers Carrum contracts with directly.

The substance use program rolled out nationally in January 2025 and is open to the employee and covered family members age 18 or older.

Inpatient Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/inpatient/
Does Carrum Health cover detox?

Yes, inpatient detoxification is one of the levels of care in Carrum Health's substance use program, usually followed by residential treatment. Entry starts with a confidential assessment by a licensed substance use counselor, who then places the member with a contracted treatment center.

Carrum states that treatment can begin within 24 to 48 hours of intake, with same-day admission arranged in a crisis situation.

Carrum Health is not an insurer. It is a San Francisco company, founded in 2014, that sells self-insured employers a Centers of Excellence benefit: a contracted national network of specialty providers paid through pre-negotiated bundled prices, with a care navigator guiding the member in. Since October 2024, one of those specialty lines has been substance use treatment.

That shapes how treatment gets arranged. Medical coverage stays with the employer’s plan, and client materials name carriers such as UnitedHealthcare and Anthem, while Carrum sits beside the plan as a separate, voluntary route for a defined episode of care. There is no Carrum plan to buy and no Carrum card to present: eligibility comes from the employer, and the employer has to have added the substance use line.

The guide below covers which levels of care the program pays for, which substance use disorders it names, how entry works in place of prior authorization, what a member pays, how medication fits, which treatment centers the benefit reaches, and how to start the process.
