Rehabs That Take Gilsbar

Gilsbar is a Covington, Louisiana-based company that administers self-funded employer health plans and offers insurance services. Its Gilsbar 360 Alliance gives plan members access to a network of providers. Because the employer funds the benefits, each plan sets its own rules, and plans can include coverage for drug and alcohol treatment with terms varying by plan, network and level of care.

Louisiana treatment centers on this page name Gilsbar or Gilsbar 360 on their websites. Knowing which employer plan you have is the first step, since Gilsbar administers many different ones. Ask the facility whether it participates in the Gilsbar 360 Alliance, and contact Gilsbar about precertification, referrals and what you would owe before admission.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

What is Gilsbar?

Gilsbar is a Covington, Louisiana insurance services company founded in 1959 in partnership with the Louisiana State Bar Association. Its health side was a third-party administrator that processed claims for employer health plans rather than an insurer, and that administration business was sold to HealthComp in January 2022.

The company trading as Gilsbar today is an insurance agency and benefits consultancy covering business insurance and employee benefits, not health plan administration.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Is Gilsbar the same as HealthComp?

No, though the two are connected. HealthComp bought Gilsbar's third-party administrator business and its MedCom care management division in a deal announced January 17, 2022, then rebranded the plans it took over, with the HealthComp logo replacing Gilsbar on all materials by January 2023.

The insurance agency still called Gilsbar is a separate, locally owned Louisiana company led by President and CEO Ryan Haun.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Is Gilsbar now Personify Health?

Yes, for health plan administration. The Gilsbar administrator became HealthComp during 2022 and 2023, HealthComp merged with Virgin Pulse in November 2023, and the combined company rebranded as Personify Health in February 2024. One former Gilsbar client plan now names its administrator as Personify Health, formerly known as HealthComp.

The Gilsbar agency in Covington kept its own name, remains locally owned, and is not part of Personify Health or its ownership group.

Gilsbar is not an insurance company and never was one. The Covington firm worked as a third-party administrator, paying claims under health plans that employers wrote and funded themselves, which means the coverage behind a Gilsbar card belongs to the employer’s plan document rather than to Gilsbar. The benefit, the cost share and the rules on addiction treatment all come from that document.

The health administration business no longer carries the name. HealthComp Holding Company announced the purchase of Gilsbar’s TPA division and its MedCom care management division on January 17, 2022. Rebrand materials went out in fall 2022, the wellness app moved to HealthComplete in December 2022, and the HealthComp logo replaced Gilsbar on all materials in January 2023. HealthComp merged with Virgin Pulse in November 2023 and the combined company became Personify Health in February 2024. The business still trading as Gilsbar in Louisiana is an insurance agency and benefits consultancy selling business insurance and employee benefits consulting, not health plan administration.

Admissions teams still see the Gilsbar name on older paperwork, and the shape of the answer has not changed: the employer’s plan decides. This guide covers which levels of addiction treatment these plans pay for, where precertification applies and what happens if it is skipped, what one named plan charged for inpatient and outpatient behavioral care, how medication is paid for through a separate pharmacy benefit, and how to work out which programs a particular plan treats as in-network.
