Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

What is Halcyon Behavioral?

Halcyon Behavioral was a Fresno, California company, founded in 2012, that administered mental health and substance use benefits for self-insured employers and ran employee assistance programs. It is not an insurer and sells no policies to individuals. It is now part of SimpleTherapy, Inc. and trades as SimpleBehavioral and SimpleEAP.

Because it manages benefits rather than selling them, what your coverage pays for comes from your employer's or trust's own plan document.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Is Halcyon Behavioral the same as SimpleBehavioral?

Yes, in effect. SimpleTherapy announced a rebrand on October 25, 2024 that folded Halcyon Behavioral into its own identity: the benefit administration service became SimpleBehavioral and the employee assistance program became SimpleEAP. The old halcyonbehavioral.com address now redirects to the SimpleBehavioral page.

Halcyon merged with PhysMetrics under SimpleTherapy as of May 5, 2022, with no change to the staff serving client members.

Who owns Halcyon Behavioral?

SimpleTherapy, Inc., a privately held company based in Fresno, California, owns it. SimpleTherapy was founded in 2011 by orthopedic physicians and physical therapists, and it took on both Halcyon Behavioral and the musculoskeletal benefit administrator PhysMetrics, with the deal publicly announced in late March 2023.

SimpleTherapy's product lines today are SimpleMSK, SimpleEAP, SimpleBehavioral and SimpleWellbeing, run from 1080 W Shaw Ave in Fresno.

Halcyon Behavioral is not an insurer. It was a Fresno, California company, founded in 2012, that administered the mental health and substance use disorder portion of self-insured employer and trust plans and ran employee assistance programs for public agencies. The coverage itself comes from the employer’s plan document; Halcyon built the network, ran the clinical review and handled the claims.

The name has since been retired. Halcyon merged with PhysMetrics under SimpleTherapy, Inc. effective May 5, 2022, an arrangement announced publicly in March 2023, and on October 25, 2024 SimpleTherapy launched a single brand identity in which the behavioral benefit administration service became SimpleBehavioral and the employee assistance program became SimpleEAP. The old Halcyon web addresses now redirect to those SimpleTherapy pages, so a treatment program still listing “Halcyon Behavioral” is naming the predecessor of the company a caller will actually reach.

This guide covers what the carve-out pays for at each level of care, who performs the utilization review, what a visit costs under the one client plan with published figures, where medication coverage sits, and how to find a program in California that contracts with the network.
