Rehabs That Take Security Health Plan

Security Health Plan is a not-for-profit insurer owned by Marshfield Clinic Health System, serving members across central and northern Wisconsin. Addiction treatment is covered across withdrawal management, residential care, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs and standard outpatient therapy. That distinction is worth settling before anything else.

This is largely rural Wisconsin, and distance is the binding constraint rather than coverage. Because the plan and the clinic system sit within one organization, coordination between medical and behavioral care is better than in fragmented arrangements. That distinction is worth settling before anything else.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does Security Health Plan cover rehab?

Yes. On group and direct pay plans, Security Health Plan covers addiction treatment in three benefit categories: inpatient care, transitional care such as day treatment, residential and intensive outpatient, and outpatient individual, group and family therapy. Day, visit or dollar limits depend on the specific plan you hold.

Benefits are not interchangeable between the three categories, so unused outpatient visits do not extend a residential stay. Benefit questions go to customer service on 1-800-472-2363.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Does Security Health Plan cover residential rehab?

Yes, AODA residential treatment is a covered transitional service on group and direct pay plans, grouped with certified day treatment, community support programs and intensive outpatient care under Wisconsin's transitional services mandate. Precertification is required for all AODA residential services before admission.

The precertification line is 1-866-688-3400, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. BadgerCare Plus members follow a different route, since the state pays residential care fee-for-service.

Residential Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/residential/
Does Security Health Plan cover intensive outpatient treatment?

Yes, intensive AODA outpatient programs fall under the transitional care benefit on group and direct pay plans, along with certified day treatment. The plan defines these programs by reference to American Society of Addiction Medicine patient placement criteria, so an assessment showing that level of need supports the request.

Day, visit or dollar limits can apply, and transitional benefits sit in their own category separate from inpatient care and outpatient therapy.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)https://rehabseekers.com/programs/outpatient/iop/

Does Security Health Plan Cover Rehab?

Yes. Coverage includes medically supervised withdrawal, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care, alongside medication for opioid use disorder.

The plan is owned by Marshfield Clinic Health System, so for members treated within that system the medical, psychiatric and addiction records sit together, and coordination is better than in arrangements where a payer buys care from strangers.

Distance Is the Constraint

Central and northern Wisconsin contain a great deal of open country and few residential programs. Several counties have none within a considerable drive, and winter closes roads. The practical question here is usually what can be delivered locally or remotely rather than which facility to choose between.

What Works in a Rural Setting

Three things carry most of the weight. Telehealth is covered and is frequently the only sustainable arrangement rather than a lesser option, particularly for counseling and for buprenorphine management. Out-of-area residential placement is ordinary work for a case manager, so ask what the plan will authorize rather than concluding distance rules it out. And where a residential bed involves a wait, starting outpatient treatment immediately is a better decision than holding out.
