Skywood Recovery – Augusta Detox and Rehab Services
The register shows Skywood Recovery – Augusta providing detox, residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Medical supervision covers the withdrawal period, where alcohol and benzodiazepines carry real risk. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. Which of these is appropriate depends on an assessment, not on what sounds manageable at the time.
The listing records a single focus rather than combined treatment, so anyone needing both should confirm what is available. Medication-assisted treatment combines approved medication with counseling and clinical review. Ask what a typical week involves before committing, since the schedule determines whether the program is workable alongside work or family.

I've been to Skywood twice. I could write a novel about the problems there regarding the facility, some of the faculty, and a bunch of the experiences I've had. That being said, if you're looking for a place for detox… and rehab, Skywood ranks above a little more than most other places. If you have insurance it's worth it. If you are paying out of pocket you ARE NOT getting what you paid for.
Skywood is an amazing facility. A mix of recovery, wildlife, damn good people and staff, and the food is brilliant!! I would recommend it to anyone struggling with addiction.
Skywood was a very pleasant experience for me given the circumstances. Staff is amazing and humbled real genuine people with lots of integrity. If it wasn’t for RA Ryan, I am not sure where I would be. One of the best… guys I have met and is outstanding at his position.
Skywood Residential Treatment Center Review I recently completed a 12-day stay at Skywood, having previously spent 31 days there just three months prior. Unfortunately, my second experience left much to be desired,… primarily due to significant changes within the facility that impacted the quality of care. 1)Staffing Issues Upon returning, I was shocked to find that a substantial portion of the staff had left. Many residential aides (RAs), nurses, and therapists had either quit or moved on to other opportunities, leaving a noticeable gap in the support and care provided to patients. The revolving door of nursing staff and the departure of both physicians highlighted a troubling situation. It’s disheartening to witness the hardworking employees who genuinely care for patients being affected by management issues and communication breakdowns. 2)Communication Breakdown Throughout my stay, I observed frequent confusion and miscommunication between clinical staff and RAs, especially regarding evening phone passes. The clinical staff struggled to effectively communicate with the RAs, who are essential to the daily operations and patient support. The RAs, many of whom are in recovery themselves, offered invaluable insights and assistance. I want to specifically recognize RAs April and Susie, who made my time at Skywood brighter and helped me feel less alone in my battle. 3)Positive Staff Highlights Despite the challenges, several individuals stood out for their dedication and compassion: • Hilary Wedel (Patient Care Coordinator) and the other PCCs were consistently wonderful, providing support and guidance. • Cynthia Sellin and her daughter Brittney Sellin were incredibly kind and helpful, especially regarding FMLA and short-term disability questions. • The business office staff worked diligently to handle insurance matters, making a typically frustrating process much smoother. 4)Facilities and Operations The facility showed signs of neglect that were concerning. The removal of the med line pagers, which had previously improved medication management, led to long wait times for medication—sometimes over an hour. This inefficiency raises questions about how the facility can justify billing insurance for a stay that feels less than satisfactory. Before checking in, it’s crucial to understand what your insurance will cover and what out-of-pocket costs you may incur, as billing practices can be frustrating. 5)Overall Management and Environment Skywood has tremendous potential, but it feels mismanaged and disorganized. There are pressing needs, such as updating furniture and improving the overall appearance of the facility, which detracts from the atmosphere that should promote recovery. The clinical director, Cheryl, appears to struggle with managing the clinical department effectively; her strengths lie more in therapy than in administrative leadership. 6)The Importance of Peer Support Despite the shortcomings, I found comfort in the camaraderie with fellow patients. We faced many challenges together, and building connections with peers was invaluable in navigating our recovery journeys. In summary, while my time at Skywood was filled with ups and downs, the dedicated staff members who truly care about the patients made a significant difference. I hope that the management can address these issues to enhance the overall experience and care provided to those seeking help. If you choose Skywood, focus on building relationships with your peers and utilize the support from the amazing RAs and PCCs who are there for the right reasons.
Great facility and great staff. Got me sober and I stayed sober! You can do it!
This company employs racists, prejudice individuals. I have photos of one of their employees spewing hate on Facebook about foreigners, trans people, and liberals. That should be taken into consideration when finding… fair treatment for your loved ones. Keep them safe from people with alterior motives that trump recovery.
I guess you think you're better than everyone else huh? I called and was transferred to Brian. He answered and all I said was "how are you?" He hung up in my face!! Your admissions staff act like when someone other than… an intake calls we're trying to sell them beach front property or a bill collector which states much about you Brian! You must be worried about a bill collector calling? Well it's farther than the truth buddie! You should be nicer to your callers! It shouldn't matter why I'm calling. You only have to be gracious and say my apologies but you have wrong staff member or wrong number. I wonder how you treat clients? Hmmm!
I was a patient at skywood summer of 2024 for two months. If you’re ready for change this place probably will serve you well! I do have concerns about nursing and medical…at one point in my stay I experienced severe… stomach pain and was sent to the hospital. I was sent back to skywood from the hospital with a diagnosis. I was told by a nurse the rest to follow everyone experiences this “you’re fine” and dismissed without any consideration also from my psychiatrist. I would like staff to know the condition I was diagnosed with was not something to dismiss and I’m now 5 months post op of stomach surgery after months and months of slowly deteriorating unable to eat or even drink water bed bound, failed nerve blocks, seeing a vascular surgeon and general surgeon, in and out of the hospital! Very much questioning competence of medical professionals there and dismissive behavior of real pain! My reply is no, I will not click the link to be in contact to this review to cover up your minor mistakes that made major life long impacts to my life. I didn’t even add how the director of this rehab took over my case saying she would find a trauma informed mental health residential program for me so I didn’t look for a sober living. She never did and when my insurance was abruptly cut short(they knew) they just sent me to the hospital and I ended up back in a toxic home environment.
Incredible journey! Thank you Skywood! Awesome facility, great food, ECT.... Forever grateful!
I have had a great experience with everyone and all the programs that skywood has to offer. Inpatient and outpatient services. Thank you skywood for everything. I will be recommending their services to anyone in similar… situations.
Skywood Recovery truly saved my life. From detox all the way through PHP, every staff member made me feel supported, safe, and cared for. Carol was amazing during intake and immediately made us feel like we were in a… safe place. Anthony, one of the RAs, was there for me throughout detox and always took the time to answer my questions. Sharon kept me on my toes 👌 (8–5, she knows! 😂) and always made sure we stayed accountable. Kelsey made the evenings fun by hosting karaoke, giving us a chance to unwind and learn that sobriety can still be enjoyable. My therapist, Mark, was outstanding at helping me identify and work through the issues I was facing. Aimee, Hillary, and Ken from PCC went above and beyond to help me find aftercare and put in tremendous effort to make sure I had a solid plan for continued recovery. Matt, the peer mentor, was awesome to be around whenever you could catch him. He often took us to outside meetings, which made the transition much less intimidating and helped build confidence in continuing recovery after treatment. I could go on and on because everyone at Skywood played a part in changing my life. If you're struggling with addiction and are looking for a place that genuinely cares, I can't recommend Skywood Recovery enough. Thank you all for helping me find a new way to live. I'll be forever grateful
Skywood saved my life would recommend to all and any person who is suffering from addiction.
i loved my stay for the most part! the RA’s (except for Steve O) were all so caring and awesome! i loved Anthony, Kat, Ryan, Bart, April, Mikala, and Kelsey! everyone i’ve mentioned never failed to make me feel that… recovery was possible and happiness could happen! Steve O however was the most hateful man i’ve ever met in my life i’ll be honest.
The nurses are so kind and compassionate. Shout out to Barbara and Kristine. The med lines were so long. I waited up to an hour. They are stingy with the towels so, I ordered two white towels from Amazon… problem solved.
Great experience! Program is great and community is even better. Highly recommend this program to those who need it. Shoutout to Laura Freeman for being an amazing therapist and person. The whole staff cares deeply and… all wonderful people!
Amazing facility, great faculty
Pretty sure Skywood fried my kidneys. Fun fact: they have no medical doctor on site. Their NP prescribed me Toradol for a month straight. Now I have CKD.
Skywood is a great place to start making a big change in your life. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, EXCELLENT meals, and a BEAUTIFUL property. Comfortable is the word that comes to mind for my experience.… The therapist lead process group sessions are very high impact and definetly the recovery related highlight. I am surprised at the near total lack of 12 step involvement in their inpatient program though voluntary peer lead 12 step meetings are available in the evenings.
Very nice place. Want to thank Jake April Ryan, the RA’s that went out of there way to make that place special. And rob the therapist is an awesome guy. If you have the choice to have him as ur therapist, do it. Get… what you put in at Skywood.
Where to begin, after 20 years of heavy drinking with never a single thought of treatment, I decided it was time, I didnt know what to expect, what I DID know, is I was there to better myself, get sober and live my best… life for myself, & my loved ones. I embraced every single moment and made it my mission. Both Amys, Steve, Karol, April, Suzie, Jake, Kelly, Emily, Jake, Jason, Ryan, Matthew, Stephanie, Jan (unfortunately no longer there) Katie, Sharon, Toby, Sara, Rob, Tim, Bailey, Kaily, Danielle, Shayna, Miranda, Both Laura's, together they believed in me, they respected me and what I was trying to accomplish because I respected them and what their purpose was in my recovery. I went in 4/4/26 broken, and on the verge of killing myself with alcohol, I left on 5/4/26 KNOWING I was going home to succeed in my sobriety and LIVE again. Thank you Skywood, I would recommend this program to select individuals who are serious about recovering from their personal nightmare
Robert fritchman went above and beyond to help save my life, Thank you!
Skywood save my life is the most incredible facility on this planet
When I got there, I had a panic attack after detox, but there was nobody but unqualified techs to handle the situation who told me I'm allowed to leave with no wallet or phone. During my couple weeks stay there it was… more like summer camp with lazy counselors, my personal therapist was decent but she could only do so much. Anyway, after a couple weeks, I wanted to transfer, and they dragged their feet until I got hold of the ombudsman. Every day I was there was thousands in their pocket.... To top it off, I was on state insurance which covered my costs 100 percent... But several months later I get an unexplained bill for 1500 which ain't bad in the grand scheme of things. Don't go here if you are trying to actually get sober... I found it borderline predatory
