Macomb Family Services Inc – Richmond

My clinician was often late for appointments, rude, controlling, and never introduced herself. I initially wondered if she just had a bad day? but this behavior continued. Felt very one sided. Instead of talking/working… with me to find me find solutions, she talked at/over me, told me what to do, predicted my future, make up thoughts, assigned them to me, and told me they're wrong (even when expressing I wasn't thinking that, she'd tell me I was and I'm wrong). She chose my career for me, made some wild statements and told me to do some drastic things unfitting to the situation. When discussing arguments, she would tell me I'm wrong, then a few treatments later tell me that I was right, and did the right thing randomly. Was very confusing and destabilizing. Asked if she could not yell or accuse me of things and just ask if she had a question and try to work with me. Told her I eventually felt the only way she would listen was if I also yelled back. Asked her to stop yelling, she didn't. She pridefully claimed her therapy style is confrontational and "most people can't handle it" so they leave. But this felt less like confrontational therapy (doing the hard work by calling out to address issues/self-reflecting) and more like trying to stand up to a bullying (I wonder if that's why all the others also left). Ended up leaving treatments feeling worse (not in a good therapeutic way). She made many psychology/counseling statement that were untrue and potentially harmful, some taken out of context, and a few things she said were correct (good thing I trusted my gut and fact checked before acting.) Terrible experience. Listen to your gut and find someone who works for you.

Such an odd experience with macomb family services. I cannot recommend

I see a lot of bad reviews on here and wanted to offer up my positive experience to hopefully encourage you to use this Richmond office. My daughter has been seeing Ashley S. for about a year now. We have nothing but… great things to say about her. She has knocked down her walls and allowed her space to feel comfortable. Not only does she listen to what my daughter has to say, she listens to what we have to say as well. I wish everyone could schedule their children with her- but don't because we found her first! Kidding. Thank you so much Ashley!

If you need help, run, don't walk, away from this option Therapists are ok. Doctors are overbooked and have zero interest in patients due to being overwhelmed. Phones are seldom working. These things will make you feel… worse than when you started. Because there's nothing worse than a system that says it's there to help you but disappoints, every time. Everyone deserves better than that

Sent here by the V.A and cant even get into the office due to not being wheelchair accessible SMH need something better for people in wheelchairs...

Their phones are down, and they have been trying to get them fixed. From a past period of going here, and a new period now, they are not a bad place to be.

If you are looking for a facility to help you, I would not recommend Macomb Family. After 3 phone calls to try and get paperwork for a new patient, I have decided to move on and find a place that will actually answer… the phone, return a phone call, or even provide the documentation promised.

Need better therapists who don't just hammer kids with questions without listening, and don't jump to conclusions or make up theories.
