I was there due to a car accident. Awaiting surgery. I was there approximately a week. The nurses were all horrible. They were rough, uncaring, actually mean. They get mad whenever they have to actually help someone. I… just kept quiet and did my best to get through it. The showers don’t work,. They don’t give you anything to clean yourself with or brush your hair. Was a horrible experience.
Each nurse was fantastic. Morgan initially started and she made me so comfortable. She was easy to talk to and definitely deserves recognition. Kaylee followed after for a short time but rocked it. As well as Grace, who… was my transport girl! All the girls rocked it!
At least this hospital has the decency and principles to not bill dead people. That's the least I can say. At least this place can do ONE thing right. Not that I can say they do anything else right. I truly wonder what… the point of a hospital is. What's the difference between doctors and criminals? What's the point in having so much administrative staff? Criminals at least have principles and morals. Doctors don't and meant to be laughed at. Doctors are just laughable, mockable, and silly. It's like watching a comedy. Silly doctors, sit down and listen. No more talking please. I cannot stop laughing. I can barely keep a straight face. I suppose I should respect the 6 years of comedy school. It just feels like I'm being billed for incompetence and idiocracy. At this point I should send this hospital a disfigurement fee, a mutilation fee, and an excessive use of force fee.
My husband drove me 1.5 hours one way, why ? I live close to wilkes barre and we do NOT have good care in my area. I was registered in 2 minutes, waited while having my blood pressure and pulse ox checked, 3 minutes… later go a room in the er. Waited for a doctor for 7 minutes. Checked in at noon, left by 3;15. Every single person on the staff, doctors and nurses alike, knew exactly what they were doing. I was listened to, and given the utmost respect from every single person. I cant say enough good about the whole staff. I was informed of every single thing they were doing for me. Faxing papers to my primary doctor, they told me everything I needed to do and everybody I had to contact to further my care. The 3 hour round trip drive was the best thing I've ever done for myself.
I thought LVHN was "not for profit" . They charged my insurance company $944 for two chest X-rays. One from the front and one from the side. Over 3 times what it would normally cost. Multiple messages later they never… explained why they overcharged nor would they work with me. Lesson learned. If you ever need an X-ray or MRI go to Allentown Diagnostic Imaging instead and save yourself some aggravation and money.
stay far away from this place. Your actual procedure cost will be exorbinantly higher than the "good faith" estimate they provide. They will do a bad job at performing your services and then charge you more. My study… came back very technically challenging and they refused to re-do the procedure or take money off - i got nothing out of my $6,000 ultrasound which is a joke. No better off then have i not went there as i did not receive any useful information i was trying to gather to better understand a congenital defect with my newborn. The tech said images were fine and doctor said it was challenging couldnt give me definitive results. Billing department is also extremely rude, unprofessional and do not care to listen to your side of the story. I will never tell anyone to go to this hospital. Go elsewhere not sure how this hospital has any reviews greater than 1 star
⭐️ My message to Lehigh Valley Health Network and UnitedHealthcare I am extremely disappointed and honestly outraged that patients are the ones being caught in the middle of this dispute between Lehigh Valley Health… Network and UnitedHealthcare. Healthcare should NEVER be treated like a business negotiation where patients are left to suffer the consequences. For years, people have trusted Lehigh Valley Health Network with their health, their families, and sometimes their lives. Patients have established relationships with their doctors and specialists and depend on continuity of care. Now, many UnitedHealthcare members are being forced to make difficult decisions about their healthcare because LVHN and UnitedHealthcare could not reach an agreement. What about the elderly patient who has been seeing the same specialist for years? What about someone undergoing treatment for a serious illness who cannot simply start over with another doctor? What about the patient who cannot afford higher out-of-pocket costs? These aren't numbers on a contract. These are people's lives. I understand that healthcare organizations and insurance companies have to negotiate. But when those negotiations result in patients losing affordable access to the doctors and hospitals they depend on, something is seriously wrong. Lehigh Valley Health Network and UnitedHealthcare need to stop putting patients in the middle and get back to the negotiating table. I don't care who wins the contract dispute. I care about patients winning. People should not have to choose between their healthcare and their ability to afford it. Our health should come before profits, reimbursement rates, and corporate disagreements. Please put your patients and members first and find a solution. People's lives and well-being are too important to be used as bargaining chips.
I wad brought by ambulance to emergency room for a mental crisis and being suicidal and the paramedics just sat me in the er waiting room and no one watched me at all and I was able to literally just leave walk out and… attempt suicide again DISGUSTING
I was admit it to the hospital for overnight from the ED Experience was very good, very happy.
UPDATE: I've already complained multiple times to various people at Jefferson/LVHN over the last year and a half/2 years and this does not get addressed!!! .. please save the reply comments and spend that time actually… addressing the issue !! You spend so much time calling/emailing/mailing for ppl to pay bills, and want your payment on time, so stop making it take LITERALLY MONTHS w/ several requests for us to get a single piece of paper with an itemized receipt!! original message : I know AI is supposed to be wonderful, but it now takes MONTHS to simply get an itemized receipt for EVERY SINGLE BILL/CHARGE which is needed for a flexible medical account now...You have to wait 2 weeks for the system to "process" then call to make a formal request (the average phone calls takes 23 minutes each time!!!), which means you have to say/verify the same information three times just to get it to the right department. On EIGHT OCCASIONS THIS YEAR ALONE, we never got the single piece of paper we needed and had to go through this same process MULTIPLE TIMES with simply not getting this basic thing that every other business can give you in SECOND!!! ... I'm not sure if they're trying to scam you (in some cases the "window of repayment" which is literally FOUR MONTHS ran out so that I couldn't get reimbursed. IF this is how they handle trying to issue a SINGLE RECEIPT, imagine how incompetent they are with actual health issues and taking care of loved ones!?!?!?!
Excellent bedside manners from all the staff in the ER and Doctors and residents. Very empathetic and friendly. Went to the cafeteria orderd a grill cheese with tomatoe and bacon it was really good I also had the… chicken dumpling soup it was good but I could not finish it so I took it home and I added a little heavy cream to the soup it made it soo yummy just giving a suggestion to the kitchen it made it even better! Thank you Lehigh Valley Hospital!
Went in for a lumbar strain And the physical therapist There, along with an older Male Physical therapist, Blew out my lumbar disc On 03/04/2021, after yanking on my left leg as I lay prone, Leaving me in agony day In… and day out; all I could Do in the morning was totally assist my Left leg to the floor and could not bend Forward to wash my face So I had to shower and eat Standing up, and then walk Around my dining room table Doing puzzles for about 2 Months…thank god for The pandemic making that Seem like “normal” behavior. Every minute of the day I have some kind of symptoms; Numbness and tingling are Constant in my left foot With a burning pain From my private area Down my left leg during Self care… But what I felt today …(06/22/2023), took the cake; A sharp pain in my left foot and directly up to my left lower Back…it was scary…like a bee Sting, then like a nail was in my foot; I flung off my shoe, wiping my foot with my hand looking for the nail or at least a thumb tac; I looked for the blood on or inside In my sock, but there was none; I was sure there was a nail or at Least a thumbtack in the sole of My shoe…there was nothing there, so it must have been from The sciatica caused by the disc That was herniated at Lehigh Valley Health Network Physical Therapy causing the disc in my spine to bulge out and press on The nerve that goes to my left Foot, causing sudden, severe and “frightening” pain going from the foot directly and suddenly To my left lower back…forget About scary movies, this was Real….LVHN physical therapy Denies anything happened at All and the injurious procedure Went undocumented by them. 07/07/2024: still had that pain But just in the big toe left foot, Not as severe now, 3 years later. As I am now unable to lift more Than 12 pounds without increasing the symptoms In my left leg; I will see a doctor (07/27/2023),and Try to end this madness. I will keep you posted after The surgery, which is Reportedly 90% successful…. So I saw the Specialist who Just belittled my symptoms As though nothing was wrong and I wound up helping HIM with HIS back problems more than He helped me with my sciatica; Also he was an orthopedic “specialist” Who are normally very Thorough medically speaking But after mentioning the shooting Type pain down my left leg, During self care, he replied That that pain “did not fit” With the symptoms pattern Given that the disc was pressed Against the L5 nerve root and not The S2 nerve root, using this as A reason for not doing surgery… But that symptom is not “nothing” it does exist. He did give me another Prescription for physical Therapy, however. We’ll see how it goes…but I definitely will not go to Lehigh Valley Health Network For Physical Therapy… Of that I am certain. 10/23…I went to Saint Luke’s For physical therapy and am Able to lift up to 25lbs now Without pain( numbness only Now persists in my left foot if I bend the spine itself when lifting So I keep the spine steady and Lift with my legs. The burning Pain in my left leg is only mild Now…update: 07/07/24:the burning pain Increased down my left leg in the L5 nerve root distribution… If you have the unfortunate Bad luck to get sciatica yourself Try to find a therapist that does Some hands on therapy as well As exercises, the most Effective treatment approach. Life becomes Suffering from the sciatica symptoms like a burning Sensation at the left lower leg and perianal areas after any forward bending or squatting to the floor or self care where you have to touch those areas, the disc is already on the nerve and during any forward bend, squatting or lifting, the gelatinous center of the disc that is “herniated” pushes on the nerve, and any squatting Bending or lifting causes increased pressure on the nerve And increased symptoms. 07/2026-same symptoms persist, varying intensity between 4/10 to 7/10 burning Type pain Left calf and peri-anal.
I don't know why this hospital only gets 3 stars, I had open heart surgery in February 2023 the Doctors nurses and the rest of the staff took Great care of me. They found the problem in time and saved my life thank you… LVH and God bless you all.
My 47 year old daughter came in with some serious problems. She was admitted immediately and in a private room within minutes. Everyone here is so kind and attentive. True professionals. Nurse Kristy is one of the best.… She is a super star. She kept us all at ease with her humorous ways. Love her and the rest of the gang for keeping our daughter comfortable and safe. Thank you LVH.
My 87 year old mother tried six times unsuccessfully for 6 months to get a receipt for her payment to an MRI facility. She needs printed receipts to submit to VIA (veterans administration) for reimbursement. I finally… had to take matters in my own hands and drive physically to a location to pick up a printout. Additionally, LVHN, now that they're affiliated with Jefferson, never answers calls, and will only call you back 24 hours later. How did this organization ever get a five-star rating?
This is by far the worst hospital I’ve ever put my two feet in. We have been waiting for 6+ hours to get a lab result and a pregnancy diagnosis.
Since I was admitted to the cardiac thoracic icu post heart surgery, I have had no adequate pain relief. My surgery was on 4/21/26. I can not believe the unempathetic care I have received here. Its absolutely awful
The wait time here no matter what condition your in is a joke they’ll have you wait over 3 hours for something serious. Just go to st. Luke’s.
I spent one night on the med surg floor in the hospital this week. The experience was less than desirable. Nobody offered me toothbrush, soap, washcloth. Nurses were not kind. Techs came in to do their job nothing else.… The cleaning lady wasn’t very nice- wouldn’t take my tray because it wasn’t “her” job. I didn’t receive medication on time. Meals from the kitchen were not good. Sad that this is how it has become.
I was left soaked in my own urine. No one would help. It was disgusting. I asked to be moved to another floor and was rejected. If you want to be ignored and left hours and hours on your own, this is the hospital for… you.🤨
Horrible experience, missed tests, delayed procedure, all the while I’m coughing my brains out and no one cares, so long as I don’t leave before procedure Go anywhere else for care Now I have a $33,000 bill because lvhn… in retaliation has not worked with Anthem
Take your business to St Luke's like I'll be doing. I got 2 ultrasounds done. The first one was done by a student with no supervision yet it was still billed to my insurance. My insurance paid a considerable amount but… LVHN expects me to pay 1000 after insurance payment. I asked for a reduction in the bill (since my insurance already paid $3000). They refused stating that they don't give discounts if insurance is billed. Absolutely ridiculous to expect people to pay these prices ESPECIALLY because one test was performed by a student with no supervisor in the room. They will accept the low reimbursement rate from Medicaid but I have to pay full price? My experience was at LVHN-mulen but the issues are systemic. Just read the reviews and you will see how bad it has gotten. Do not go here.
Our experience at Lehigh Valley with our son Levi was extremely troubling. When we first brought him in with concerning symptoms, we were told it was likely just a neck spasm and were advised to have him sleep without a… pillow. This advice was given despite the fact that something was clearly wrong with our child. It was later discovered that Levi actually had a brain tumor. As parents, it is very difficult to accept that such serious symptoms were dismissed so quickly. When a family brings a child in for medical care, they are trusting that concerns will be taken seriously and evaluated thoroughly. In our case, that did not happen. Situations like this are not minor oversights. They have real consequences for families and children who are depending on medical professionals to listen carefully and act responsibly. I hope the hospital reflects seriously on how pediatric concerns are evaluated and how families are treated when they are advocating for their child. Update: We received a response directing us to submit a general feedback form. Given the seriousness of our experience, we are pursuing a formal complaint and requesting a full review
I'm 63 years old care for an 80-year-old mother. I have been in and out of many hospitals and I can say for serving. This has been my worst experience in my whole life. They act like you have no rights. There is no… compassion as a parent. They do not. Take your wishes into consideration. I was actually told it doesn't matter what you want. We'll just call. The state is override you. It's my child. I have rights. Stay away. I'd rather go to prison and get another country
We are not local and suddenly found that my FIL needed medical treatment immediately. This hospital was 3 miles away from our hotel. Pros: -The ER appeared clean at the surface level. -Ample parking was available at… from 10:00pm to 2:30am in the ER lot. -They had staff that can write out prescriptions. -the building appears to be newer -Adequate signs to get to the ER department Observations: - the registration people and nurse at check in were blah. My FIL was in extreme pain and the nurse looked up and went back to looking down when he got there. He had to go sit down because he couldn’t stand. Thankfully I was in the building from parking the car. When I checked him in they the got him a wheelchair, ext. Then they started to try when someone else appeared (me). -it seemed like a slow night there, yet the waiting was for real. -for comparison, my husband was in and out of our local ER in 60 mins due to a kidney stone with the proper meds and prescription. We strongly figured my FIL was also suffering from a kidney stone (documented history of it). It took them from 10:00pm to discharge at 2:30am. -they forgot to give him his medicine before discharge. I advocated. Then they forgot to order it until I went out into the hallway. The staff was standing/sitting at the counter and chairs. They saw me and realized they didn’t order it or delivery it. -they discharged us but didn’t remove any of his heart monitors. I had to go back out and ask for them to be removed. -the let us leave but didn’t walk us to the door to the lobby. You need an employee badge to get the doors to open. I had to ask another employee (nurse or comparable) to open the doors. She didn’t hear me at first, as she was on her personal cell phone. Then she swiped us out to get to the lobby. -the ER floor was filled with a lot of young women employees who appear to need to reprioritize their life when at work—-you are working. It’s not free time.
I always feel safe here the doctors & nurse's very professional.
They obviously have an extremely low rating for a reason. This hospital is an absolute money scheme. They’d rather you be dying before taking any true action and helping patients. Told my sister to come back 24 hours if… she does not have a bowel movement due to a blockage she’s been having issues with for over half a year! She goes back like instructed by the Dr, gets more scans done, just to be told to use an over the counter suppository. Which she told them she’s tried numerous times with no success at all. “If that doesn’t help, come back again.” For what?! To waste more money on an establishment that’s more focused on nickel and diming people than to actually help patients?! This is why I’d advise people to go to St Luke’s. This place is a death trap. Unprofessional and inexperienced doctors and nurses. Truly disgusted by this hospital and Lehigh valley network in general. This hospital was closer to me when I was to be induced when I was pregnant. I chose to drive out of my way to a St Lukes. Further from home just to avoid this hospital/lvhn in general. The reviews on here are true. People are advising to avoid this place for a reason. Do yourself a huge favor and listen to other patients. The horror stories are real. “You should always be able to count on us, anytime you need our services.” Nah. I’m good.
Disgusting bed, staff is rude, I would never come here again.
My experience at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest was absolutely unacceptable and one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had. Hospitals are supposed to be places where people go to feel safe, cared for, and… treated with dignity. Unfortunately, this place felt like the complete opposite. First, the cleanliness of the facility was extremely concerning. While I was there, I noticed what appeared to be roaches in the building, which immediately raised serious questions about the sanitation standards. Even worse, after spending time there, I ended up with what seemed like bed bug bites. The idea that a hospital — a place responsible for patient health and safety — could have pest issues like that is beyond disturbing. Patients come to a hospital already vulnerable, and the last thing anyone should have to worry about is pests or unsanitary conditions. The staff behavior made the experience even worse. Instead of professionalism, empathy, and respect, I was met with rudeness and dismissive attitudes. Several staff members acted like patients were an inconvenience rather than people who needed care. Questions were brushed off, concerns were ignored, and the overall attitude felt incredibly cold and unwelcoming. What truly crossed the line, however, was the way I was treated personally. At a time when I was already feeling vulnerable, I experienced comments and behavior that felt like body shaming. That kind of treatment is completely inappropriate in any environment, but it is especially unacceptable in a healthcare setting where patients deserve compassion and respect. No patient should ever leave a hospital feeling judged or humiliated by the very people who are supposed to help them. The combination of poor cleanliness, potential pest problems, and disrespectful staff made this entire experience deeply frustrating and upsetting. Hospitals should hold themselves to the highest standards of hygiene, professionalism, and patient care, and from my experience, those standards were not met here. I sincerely hope the administration takes complaints like this seriously and starts addressing these issues immediately. Patients deserve a clean, safe environment and staff who treat them with dignity and respect. Until significant changes are made, I would strongly encourage people to carefully consider their options before choosing this hospital.
