Andrews Behavioral Healthcare – Tyler Detox and Rehab Services

The provision listed at Andrews Behavioral Healthcare – Tyler is detox, intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Withdrawal is managed under clinical observation before other treatment begins, which matters most in the first seventy-two hours for alcohol and benzodiazepines. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.

Only one side is on record here, so ask directly if both are needed. It is worth asking how many hours a week the program runs, because that decides whether it fits around everything else.

Andrews Behavioral Healthcare – Tyler Address, Location and Contact Information

The site is at 2323 West Front Street in Tyler, Texas, 75701. The city lies within Smith County. Provision extends to the wider area, so check the journey before you set off. The practical question of getting to appointments week after week is worth thinking through at the outset.

Phone ahead about parking, access and what the first appointment covers. Where travel is difficult, ask whether an initial appointment can be held remotely. Where no one answers, leaving a message and calling again later usually works better than giving up.

Today 1/20/2026, I was supposed to see Mrs Green for my medication review etc. 1. It's cold outside, so I show up early to do my vitals etc just to be told that she is working from home so it will be a video on a… computer. Well I find that both inconsiderate and offensive that they would have me drive up in the cold, set in a freezing cold lobby, then my so called appointment was supposed to be at 9:30 at 9:45 I told them I was leaving because it was too cold to set in a lobby waiting for a Dr who was working from home because she couldn't braze the cold and show up like she expected her patients to do. VERY VERY VERY inconsiderate.

I had someone I’ll just call her by her initials CD to use her power and get me kicked out of the program lying saying that I no longer have depression and that I was on drugs. SMH 🤦 I don’t do drugs!! I don’t even… smoke or drink! Anywho it was her word against mine and she put The big wig against me and had him to call me all upset no telling what kind of lie she told. I would never recommend that place I wouldn’t even trust them to put a bandage on me. I have had a therapist lie and say that I have a personality disorder and I have also had a therapist try to prescribe me some horse tranquilizers from that place. Yeah no thanks. I would not recommend

The Andrew Center has been a vital part of my recovery journey. My counselor, Mrs. Bell, is a true inspiration. I have learned so much from her, and I am incredibly grateful for the time, effort, and commitment she has… put in to help me succeed. She is indeed a divine blessing. I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to Ms. Moon. The dedication and readiness of both Hers and Mrs. Bell to support their clients clearly reflects their care.

Nicole Bennett is the absolute WORST nurse I have ever had the misfortune of working with in the 10 years I've been receiving care from the Andrews Center! Not only is she inexperienced and unprofessional but she… completely steamrolls her patients with an egotistical "I know best" attitude, disregarding the feelings and boundaries of the patient. My friend who also saw Nicole had a nearly identical story to mine and also had to request a transfer. I was on an antidepressant that had been helpful (I have been on nearly every antidepressant on the market) and all I was asking for was to increase my dose from the lowest dose. She concluded that I wasn't depressed but instead was bipolar despite my heavy objections and proceeded to take me off of the only medication that was capable of getting me out of bed in the morning and put me on a mood stabilizer that I had a bad reaction to and made me feel as if I was having a stroke for 8 hours. And I can't tell you how desperately I begged her not to take me off of my medicine but she disregarded my feelings and pressured me into trying a mood stabilizer despite how uncomfortable I said I was with that. The result was a two week period of rotting in bed the worst my depression has been in a while. This nurse has no clue what she's doing nor does she care about her patients whatsoever. It seems like she's only chasing the sense of superiority that she feels when talking down to patients. I thought I just had bad luck but my best friend AND sibling have similar stories. I hope the person reading this is able to find someone better. Pam Summer's is very sweet and down to earth and genuinely listens to my needs.

This has to be the worst medical facility In Tyler. I became a patient here after a hospitalization back in 2017. This was the only psychiatrist that I could see as I didn’t have any insurance. They set me up with a… physician assistant who prescribed me medications. They set past seven to eight years all they did was give me medications that didn’t work. In the past year I decided to become more involved with my care as I had become tired of being a test subject and going in and out of the hospital. As soon as I started to stand up for myself the PA became hostile and rude and refused to take my feelings into consideration. The Andrews Center also has blanket guidelines regarding treatment for anxiety and depression, so if you require a controlled substance to treat any of your illnesses you won’t be prescribed it here. If you can get seen somewhere else to save yourself the trouble.

My provider here was born for her job, I think. I don't always get along with her, but she is very good at what she does. The biggest problem is that the Center has a very large lack of funding. Too many patients for… too little staff. That isn't the staff's fault, but it is the reality. If you can deal with that, their providers are very helpful.

The Staff are very friendly and professional and they have helped me when other places wouldn't, they are all about helping people who can't pay much and they are 1 of the only places who will I would recommend Andrew's… Center in Tyler Texas to anyone who needs mental health care or just a place to talk about your problems and emotional support it's great 👍

These guys only pass as "mental health assistance" per the absolute bare minimum requirement. Operators and receptionists are rude, impatient, and often frankly useless—I've been cut off and transferred to dead lines… countless times while trying to ask basic questions like "when is your lab open?" or "what appointment do I need to make next?" I'm classified as a high priority patient yet I see my psychiatrist only 2-3 times a year. I hate this place, I sincerely do. They earn a 1.5/10 but I guess it's better than nothing.

My son was incarcerated for a non violent minimal offense Wright before the covid crisis shut down everything. This was not Smith County jail nor Henderson County. This was Bowie County Texas, that is Texarkana a small… city that sits on the border of Arkansas and Texas for you guys that don't know. Well anyway during his sentence at Bowie County he had witnessed a guard beat a guy severely bad with his fist while his hands where handcuffed behind his back. My son made a statement to internal affairs along with several other inmates and a lady guard. He began making threats to the guard and following her. She just said the hell with it and quit her job. All along he was aloud to stay at work and continue supervision over the inmates that seen him beat a man and make him spend upwards of a week in the hospital. He started telling my son and the inmates that he was just waiting for his opportunity that they where all going to get the same thing as the guy he put in the hospital. Well just so be it my son stands 5 foot 4 inches, and weighs about 115, so the guard told him tonight is the night that I get you. So you can just imagine in his mind what he was thinking was going to happen to him, so he made preparations to protect his self. He took the shower head off and put it in a tube sock. He had already been telling the other guards for days that the man was telling him he was going to kill him, everyone in the facility just ignored him, he pleaded and begged for help but help never came until it was to late. That very night around 2:00 am he entered my 22 year old kids cell, my son knew he was coming upon him entering the cell my son was able to strike him 1 time to the head. The guard was able to over power him and take the weapon the report stated the guard was able to strike him 4 times in the head before the other guards got there. The guards stated that they had handcuffed my son and was in the middle of trying to get my son medical attention when the guard grabbed the weapon and struck my son 2 more times before they could wrestle the guard to the ground. It caused my son to get 23 staples to the head. My son was charged with aggregated assault on a officer. The guard was suspended with pay. Now don't forget this was in the middle of the pandemic. My son was locked into a one man cell for 2 years after completing his 1 year sentence, because he was being held without bail. It was very hard to get a appointment with a lawyer but 8 months in it we finally got him a attorney but by this time my son had not been able to call his family or talk to anyone. His attorney knew something was wrong with my son, and he had a syciteris come in and talk with him, this was about another year. The doctor diagnosed him with paranoia schizophrenia. All charges were dropped. It took another 4 months before they could get him in a bed at the physiatric hospital in Terrell. At this time the guard was incarcerated and charged with multiple accounts of aggravated assault on multiple inmates. He was in the hospital in Terrell for about 5 months before he was released. When he came home he was like a entirely different person. He didn't know who I was he didn't know who his 4 brothers were and then we finally got his appointment to go to the Andrew center. They started him on a injection that would last for 3 months. The very next morning when he got out of bed he was back this was my son, I was so thankful to God and to the Andrew center they had finally gave him his life back. The last shot that he had was the middle of January. In the past 2 weeks my son has slowly diminished at this time he is doing the exact things that he was doing in the beginning. I truly believe from the bottom of my heart that there was a mistake made they have 2 shots one you take every month and the other every 3 months. I am by far not saying it was intentional but people make mistakes, his oldest brother has called and told them what is going on and repeatedly asked them did he get his medication I just hope and pray that they are investigating this.

It has been awhile since my encounter with this place, but I'd like to say what I think so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I was suffering from mental illness and needed medical help. Having no other resources, I… found the courage to ask TAC for assistance. I spoke with an "intake" person who listened to my symptoms and pretended to read notes I'd prepared for when I inevitably struggled to talk about it. This "professional" sighed audibly and asked "Do you have a church family?" No other help was offered and my valid concerns were dismissed. I didn't need Sunday school; I needed a doctor. Total waste of effort. Thankfully, I didn't give up on my life. Don't go there if you're suicidal.

I have received services from here since 2019. And every month it was a struggle to receive my medications. Communication is horrible, and the scheduling ladies love to argue, and make you feel like you're in the wrong.… I have came a long way with my mental health, and it's gotten to a point where the andrews center is a hinderamce.it is sad how stigmatized mental health is in our country and the andrew center provides a solid case as to why.

If I could rate this place a ZERO I would. This place is a JOKE. I was receiving services for some lingering trauma. This place is NOT equipped nor staffed to assist those in family violence and sexual assault… situations. They also ALLOW CURRENT CLIENTS TO BECOME VOLUNTEERS WHILE CURRENTLY IN TREATMENT which is highly unethical and crosses boundaries one should not cross. I know because it happened to me. A year later I am still waiting for the center Director to call me and respond to my letter. I applied for a position here ONLY TO SEE THAT ON MY INTERVIEW INVITATION THIS PERSON WAS HIRED ON! SO KNOW THAT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND as a professional who works with victims I will NEVER refer anyone here for services!!! I was forced to leave and THAT PERSON WAS REWARDED FOR UNETHICAL BEHAVIORS. If you are a victim I recommend services at a family violence emergency shelter! NOT HERE EVER!!!!!!

My son was treated there for many years. If it hadn’t been for them I don’t know that he could have gone to college and got honors at TJC. He was so mentally ill from a combination of autism and learning disabilities he… would walk down the street talking to himself and non verbal with others. They aren’t there to be your best friend. They’re there to treat mental illness and disabilities.

I was transferred from 988 hotline to Andrews Center and they were not helpful at all in my time of crisis. They didn't show any compassion or care. Now they keep calling me offering services like insurance salesmen… after I told them that I'm doing better and seeking help somewhere else.

I have been going to Andrews now for 14 years, and have had few problems with them. The second counselor I had for therapy was not very good, but the first one was excellent. I would have liked to keep her, but she had… finished what she was there for. The doctor I had was Doctor Ghrist. He was excellent, very knowledgeable, and a kind person. I remained his patient until he left a couple of years ago. After he left, I was assigned to a nurse practitioner, who is just as knowledgeable as he was, and just as kind. I won't say I have not had any problems, but they were too few to mention. Overall, I'm well pleased with the service, the manner in which I have been treated by my case managers, doctors, and even the Consumer Benefits Department. I have a difficult believing the person who said she was told her insurance would cover her expenses because I have never had insurance 100% of mental health expenses, and I have gone to mental health professionals for 40 years without the success I have had at Andrews. The first couple of years I went to Andrews, I was so steeped in depression and anxiety that I was able to be disabled because I could not be able to hold down a full-time job. And for the first time Dr. Ghrist came up with the right combination of antidepressant and sleep therapy. Andrews Center helped me with my therapy costs and medication costs since I was not in a position to afford them. I feel like a am a well person because of their care of me. I am able to work now, and can afford to pay for the services rendered and for my medication. When I tell people I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, they can't believe it. I sometimes find it hard to believe that I'm a different person now. I'm writing this review because I recommended to a friend that he try Andrews Center, but after he read the reviews, he didn't want to take a chance. Therefore, the conclusion I came to was that only people who have had a bad experience write a review. After reading the reviews myself, I assured him that I didn't have any of those problems with Andrews, and I decided to write a positive review.

I have dealt mainly with the Mineola, Texas office. The office staff, Ms Novada Bigham is not only helpful in all ways, but also cares about the patients. However, my experience with Dr. David Danley has been awful. He… is pompous and does not care about the wellness or problems of the patient. I highly recommend a different psychiatrist.

This whole organization is complete trash. Waste of time. Stuck in the 1950s in regards to their treatments. I can't even remember the doctor's name because I never once met with him in the two years I was dealing with… them.
