Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center – Houston Detox and Rehab Services

What Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center – Houston offers, on record, is residential treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.

Mental health and substance use are handled together rather than in sequence. It is worth asking how many hours a week the program runs, because that decides whether it fits around everything else.

Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center – Houston Address, Location and Contact Information

Records give the address as 2002 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, Texas, 77030. Harris County covers this area. Provision extends to the wider area, so check the journey before you set off. Public transport, parking and the length of the journey all affect whether someone completes a course of treatment, and they are worth settling before the first appointment rather than after.

Phone ahead about parking, access and what the first appointment covers. If getting there is hard, ask about a remote first appointment. Admissions lines are frequently busiest early in the week, which is worth knowing if the first attempt fails.

I hate this VA with a passion. The phone line passes you off from 1 person to the next. The doctors dont talk to each other. Unnecessary appts. From start to finish, its all a complete joke. These people do not care… about you.

A lot gets said about the VA system; and I, for one, have been pretty critical... mostly related to the "administration" and positions related. But, I want to say I had one of the most pleasant (if skin can surgery for… 4 hours can be pleasant) experiences this morning at the Houston VAMC Dermatology Department. I had interface with more than 6 medical personnel for my procedures this morning. Got "called back" 30 minutes early, by name. I was attended by 2 surgeons, a supervising surgeon, a graduating MD, and two wound care nurses. They were ALL great, professional, and personable and funny... enjoyed their time... and as pain free as I've ever been. It was very obvious to me this morning that this team was very dedicated to veteran care, by choice, and very skillful in their chosen profession. I can't brag on these guys enough!! Thank you to all for taking such great care of us vets!! Malcom Modrall

Spoke to a Gerald Bardem in Mental Health and he’s incredibly disrespectful to veterans on the phone. This is the 2nd time I’ve spoken to this gentlemen and I dismissed it the first time because everyone has bad days.… Well, after today, it’s clear he doesn’t like veterans. When I called to file a complaint I was ignored by a woman named Ebony while telling what happened. She cut me off and didn’t even want to know who was responsible. So I’m leaving a review to share my story.

Dad's surgery scheduled for 7 am, got up at 4:30am, they didn't bother to start the surgery until after 11 am. Knew they were keeping him overnight. Finished the surgery at 3:30, he's still in recovery waiting for them… to clean a room at 7:15pm, meaning I'm still here over 14 hours waiting to give him his phone and clothes and id and they haven't started cleaning the rooms.

had to take a trip to the emergency room. Most of the staffs were friendly and helpful. When I finally get to see the doctor, she was talking to me with a condescending tone, very rude and disrespectful. It really… pissed me off, I guess she sensed that I was about to returned the same energy back to her. she change her tone quickly and talk to me like a normal human being. I forgot to look at her name tag but she was A middle-aged East Indian woman.

I went to the emergency room urgent clinic on a Sunday for a severe pain in my head for over a week . Even though there were probably ten or more people in the waiting room it took them no time to get all of us taken… care of . When they reviewed my record and had seen where my ENT had sent a message to my Family Doctor stating I needed to see a neurologist six days before but she never set up a consult he stated that he would take care of it . He had me give blood samples and then injected a steroid into where the blood was drawn then gave me a saline solution IV . All this happened in no time at all and they treated everyone with kindness and respect and laughed and joked .They knew exactly what to do like true professionals . It is so much different than the Conroe Clinic . I had to drive fifty one miles to get there but it was worth it because my pain started to decrease that evening then two days later they set me up with an appointment with a neurologist . They are true professionals and treat you with respect ,

The best department at the VA healthcare system is the Pharmacy. I have been getting all my prescriptions throught the mail for 23 years... I take 14 different scripts per day, so that means they mailed thousands of… scripts to my home. In all that time they never made one mistake!!! 100% accuracy. This week for the first time in about 15 years the Post Office lost one of my prescriptions, I was very neverous calling Pharmacy, but the tech was very nice and understanding... They not only refilled it, but sent it overnite delievery. They are really awesome!!!!

Perhaps I just get the worst employees. I've had many good experiences however I find them to be the laziest self-centered employees Of any business. If they were for profit organization, I'd be out of business in no… time

July 13 2026, had a dental appointment at 0900, I arrived at 0834, I drove around for over 30 minutes looking for parking and I missed my appointment, remind you I already have to drive 35 minutes to the VA, so all the… gas money wasted and will not gst refund because I didnt get to my appointment, this is absolutely ridiculous, NOBODY should have to Struggle to find parking, DO better houston VA! Why isnt there a parking garage with 3 to 4 levels? This is the biggest county in the USA and you dont have enough parking for the veterans, we already dealt with this shit in the military, we dont need this added stress anymore .. shaking my damn head, I already had to wait. 3 1/2 months.. now I had to reschedule and wait another month 😡🙄🙄🙄

Today I saw my VA primary care provider for severe, chronic plantar fasciitis pain. He referred me to podiatry since he cannot give cortisone injections. Podiatry said they cannot see me for three weeks. I then went to… the ER, where I was told they could not see me and were sending me back to primary care. In just three hours, multiple VA providers told me there was nothing they could do. As a 100% disabled veteran in significant pain with limited mobility, this lack of urgent care is unacceptable. This place really hates Veterans!

Warning: The VA systems do not link together; if you got an eye exam at N.Dallas VA it DOES NOT link to HOUSTON VA, even if it's valid. You have to have the eye exam at the same place you get glasses. Sad. Well… organized with much more parking than other main VA campuses. Easy to get around.
