McCall Behavioral Health Network – Winsted Reviews and Ratings
Accreditation and licensing tell part of the story at McCall Behavioral Health Network. Reviews from patients and their loved ones tell another part, and the two are shown on this page so they can be read together.
No good...this review is a long time coming but back in 2017 when I was trying to recover from an opiate addiction- the power tripping director (at that time) named "Dino" told me that I was an egomaniac with a… superiority complex and wouldn't let me graduate when I had only ONE more day left. Instead I was ostrised and excluded from being in groups and interacting my peers (this was interpreted & considered a form of abuse from my perspective; esp for an addict in recovery) I did nothing wrong to deserve this treatment; infact I tried to build off of their flawed program to help other addicts reach success after seeing many people fall through the cracks of this poorly structured place. For all of their control on their patients or clients- they surely dropped the ball more than once...hopefully they have revised and improved since.
I currently live here counselor sucks
Positive atmosphere
Only come here if you're on parole or probation
Everytime i made a mistake i was balittled by the person who was supposed to be helping me. One specific memeory i have is i thought an appointment date was at an earlier date then i thought and in response i was… screamed at over the phone and was told "Im not your mommy, you cant keep not putting in effort and expect me to do everything". I went home crying that day. And that wasnt the first time i left crying.
I don’t often write reviews, but this one feels important. I began my journey here years ago, and Rebecca H. completed my initial intake, and then became my clinician. From that very first interaction, it was clear that… she approached her work with genuine care and intention—not just going through the motions, but truly seeing me as a person. Over the years, she has gone above and beyond in every sense. She has supported me through processing trauma, growth, and setbacks, always showing a level of compassion and understanding that made it possible for me to keep moving forward. She creates a space where you feel safe, respected, and challenged in the right ways. A significant part of my recovery is something I directly attribute to her. That kind of impact doesn’t happen by chance—it comes from dedication, skill, and a deep commitment to the people she serves. To say that she genuinely cares feels like a complete understatement. Organizations are strengthened by professionals like her. I am incredibly grateful for the role she has played in my life, and will forever be grateful as well to Karin R. and Paul R, and all the staff and program as a whole.
I have nothing but excellent things to say so far. Their hours are very accommodating for new patients, and everyone I spoke to was kind and caring. Furthermore, they seemed to really get behind my primary goals for… treatment, whereas my previous provider seemed to keep dissuading me against it. I really like the overall vibe and appreciate how easy of a transition it has been.
The girls are the best at customer service ✨💖🫶🏻😘
Right now I'm reflecting upon my journey of recovery. The very first steps that I took in this challenging yet rewarding path began with walking through the doors of The McCall Foundation. Whenever I'm speaking with… people in early recovery, I make sure to instill in them a sense of nostalgia that I have for this place. The staff at the McCall Foundation consists of many people. Some of whom are themselves recovering drug addicts & alcoholics....people who can relate and empathize with the fear, confusion and necessity for understanding that is needed by most people in very early recovery. To this day some of the closest friends that I have are closely attached to this place. If I hadn't received the tools that I received while I went through the 30 day inpatient program here and taken the advice of my counselor to go into a 6 month sober-living halfway house after my stay here, I may not have stayed the course. But I received great advice, steady support and to this day a lifeline to a community of caring, sober people who care about each other's recovery and the local recovery community as a whole. For the rest of my life I will give thanks to The McCall Foundation and as I attempt to pass along what I received here I will never forget the people who patiently supported me within their walls during those difficult, early days when I was susceptible to "going back out there" and getting high. I'm almost 10 years sober now and I can humbly say that I owe The McCall Foundation my gratitude as I go through life attempting to pay forward something that can't be bought but has to be earned. I'll forever be grateful for what this place gave to me.
