Amazing experience! A friend recommended them to me, since I've had a difficult time finding a provider that accepts my insurance. Awakenings got me in the same week, they were kind and the office was clean and… welcoming. I am so thankful to have found them and recommend to anyone!

I was very impressed with the polite front desk personnel and doctor. Dr. Stamati was personable and spent more time with me at the appointment than I have received from any doctor in the past. Dr. Stamati did not rush… the appointment and was genuinely interested and focused. I highly recommend this practice.

Their providers say on Zocdoc that they take my insurance. I called and confirmed they were in network. Then I got scheduled and spent 1.5 hours on their new patient paperwork. Then less than 2 business days before my… appointment, I received a text saying they canceled my appointment because they're not in network with my insurance! They didn't even give me the option to pay out of pocket and they wasted time I could have spent actually finding care. They deserve 0 stars.

There’s no casino here but I come here anyways and it’s awesome. I appreciate the staff and the people they let in here. I was able to get the help I needed to get better.

Website clearly states they help manage ADHD/ADD. After booking, we received a phone call that they are not experts with ADHD/ADD and they cancelled appointment. We were not looking for testing, just management.… Hopefully this review will save you the hassle of booking with them.

I’ve been using Awakenings KC for about a year. The first six months went very well, but after my original provider left the practice, my experience has become increasingly concerning. Since the beginning of this year,… every prescription I’ve received has had some kind of issue — wrong dosage, wrong medication type, prescriptions sent for the wrong month, missing prescriptions entirely. In April, I received the wrong prescription. In May, they failed to issue one at all, while somehow simultaneously issuing one for June. These are controlled substances, and many of them are already difficult to fill due to ongoing shortages. When mistakes happen, delays matter. I’ve had situations where, by the time errors were corrected, the medication was already out of stock, leaving me without it for days. I understand the shortage itself is not necessarily the practice’s fault, but the repeated administrative and prescribing errors absolutely are. At this point, the pattern is what concerns me most. This isn’t an isolated mistake anymore — it has become consistent enough that I no longer feel confident in the practice’s ability to manage controlled medications responsibly. In my case, this involves ADHD medication, which is disruptive enough when handled improperly. But this same level of carelessness is being applied to patients who may rely on these medications simply to function safely day to day. That is deeply troubling. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend Awakenings based on my recent experiences. UPDATE: After leaving a message with Awakenings KC on Friday of Memorial Day weekend, it is now Tuesday, and the situation has somehow gotten worse. This morning, I received notifications both from the patient portal and from CVS Pharmacy saying that a prescription had been submitted — except it was marked “too early to fill.” After everything that has happened over the past several months, I checked the details myself. They sent in the wrong prescription again. At this point, this is no longer an occasional oversight or understandable human error. There has been a continuous pattern of incorrect dosages, wrong medications, missing prescriptions, redundant prescriptions, and now repeated submission of entirely incorrect controlled substances. These are medications that patients rely on to function normally, maintain employment, and in some cases preserve their mental stability and safety. Mistakes happen in healthcare. Repeated mistakes involving controlled substances, with no apparent improvement or safeguards put in place, are another matter entirely. I genuinely cannot recommend Awakenings KC anymore based on my experience this year.

So I'm covered under two different insurances and one them they don't take instead of going through the primary insurance they cancel my appointment I hate stupid businesses like them.

I had a fantastic experience with TMS here. As someone trying it for the first time, I was initially hesitant and a bit nervous, but Marjorie, my nurse, made the process feel easy, approachable, and even enjoyable. I… can't yet speak to the long-term effectiveness of the treatment, but I’d absolutely return—especially if Marjorie is on staff. Her support made all the difference.

Marjorie has been very attentive and helpful. She is always ready to start my treatment. The office assistant has also been helpful except for once.

Caring, compassionate and they always keep their appointments! They also understand and remedy mental health that’s specific to the patient; nothing generic.

I appreciate the entire staff of Awakenings KC. They are excellent health care professionals who have genuinely helped me. My quality of life overall has improved because of my experience there.
