About Pawnee Mental Health Services – Manhattan
Pawnee Mental Health Services operates from 2001 Claflin Road in Manhattan. The site sits in Riley County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. The practical catchment runs wider than the city limits, taking in people who travel in rather than finding care on their doorstep.
Intensive outpatient and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment, telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Treatment Services at Pawnee Mental Health Services
Intensive outpatient and outpatient care run to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Buprenorphine is available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Pawnee Mental Health Services Address, Location and Contact Information
The address is 2001 Claflin Road, Manhattan, KS 66502, in Riley County. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity. It is worth checking which entrance to use and where parking sits before a first appointment.
Telehealth appointments cover some contact where travel is difficult, which removes part of the journey for people further out. Interpreting services including ASL are available on request. Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip.

This facility has made my life worse than before I started therapy which is a major reason I don’t follow up. They thrive off individuals with decent insurance. They make you feel horrible for living and are rude,… inconsistent, inconsiderate, and they play nice to sell you their scam of a business. They don’t care about you. They care about labeling you and charging your insurance to continue getting money for you while pumping you full of medications after one visit.
The Case Management Services do not actually help nor are accountable they will have staff that will tell you to end your life you contact the quality services director and they make a big joke about it and laugh at you… and don't resolve a single thing and don't sort anything out to help you receive adequate and sustainable services the med doctors will sit there and ignore you or prescribe you medication to make you worse so you definitely stay involved in their services for the insurance money especially if you do have insurance and they clearly know that some of the medication it will make you worse and have no accountability this place is fighting for funding like crazy why should they get any at all and if they don't do anything worth deserving more money and everything also another huge and big downfall Pawnee is supposed to be the leader of community mental Health Services in the state of Kansas in the area that they have services and yet has not fulfilled much of that mission in the last 60 something years been open people are leaving their services unless the client is on probation through the court system to go to treatment through Pawnee the list goes on and on and on people need to speak out about this stuff because this is ridiculous I had Services through you guys personally for 20 something years and I've never seen anything like this before with you guys and what's really sad is now you have staff members former and current try to put positive reviews to boost up the Stars on Google I think if we're going to get some real issues solved here we need to have undercover people in the community go in and actually look at these people I've also fought in for funding major funding and all goes up to the management for themselves never will I do that again
Excellent Staff
I am a retired critical care nurse. I am extremely pleased with the knowledgeable intheir Behavioral Health departments. They have helped all the members of our family. If there are any issues with the care givers,… management addresses the issues. Their personel are compassionate and put their clients first, going out of their way to meet their needs, to see their clients get the care that they need. They have personel who work with the police. In times of extreme distress, the police can call them into the home night or day to assess a person in crises to get them the assistance they need immediately, with immediate follow-up the next day if at night. Help is right then, often preventing unnecessary ER trips or hospitalization preventing additional unnecessary stress and cost to the person and their loved ones in distress. I cannot recommend them enough.
This facility refused to work with me when I was available. No amount of explaining my availability helped. I requested call backs from supervisors which never happened. I came to you guys for assistance. Your… inflexibility made it impossible to receive that help. As a medical health professional, I am appalled.
I was put on a medication and within 2 days, I became aggressive irritable, feeling thoughts of suicide. I went into the office and they told me I had to leave a message for the nurse, who didn't call me back for 6… hours. Then berated me for talking to the front desk negatively. When you're in a crisis, that's something that you should expect and if you can't handle it you shouldn't work there. There are mentally ill people that come in there that need a help. I changed my meds back myself because it took so long for them to call me back. I still have leftover symptoms from the medication. My therapist from a different organization took me off work for a week until he could reevaluate and make sure I was stable enough to go to back. I thank God for my therapist, because Pawnee was nothing but negative and berating.
Professional and courteous.
Very helpful and willing to work with you on payment.
My granddaughter had to walk up 10 story of steps by herself in still very upset about it.to me it's child endangerment, child neglect and the lady that babysits my granddaughter could have gotten very big trouble for… having a minor out alone in the apartment complex.my child has voices that tells her to run when she gets scared or upset and what if something like that would have happened if she would have run
Great staff!
Ok
Counselor Eva-Marie did an extensive depression question session and the next day I got a call telling me id been assigned to another counselor. Things were pretty much for the good part, but that really sucked
There's a high turnover rate of therapists. Which isn't beneficial or helpful with people trying to work through things let alone youth trying to work through things. Case management and wraparound Services don't seem… beneficial for my children. They get all of these extra services but are still not improving in anything. I have been a patient on and off at Pawnee and Junction City for 13 years and most of the services there weren't helpful and every time I found one that was helpful they left there shortly after. And God forbid you have a history of drug use and still need help with ADD/ADHD because they will treat you like a drug seeking addict.
It's hard to get my prescriptions refilled. I'm not sure if I can get the help. The med Dr can't make our next appointment, I have to call and schedule it. I'm to wait and schedule it in however many months she wants to… visit with me on video chat. I've tried repeatedly to get on the portal with no success.
I have been with Pawnee for several years. I have PTSD that I have been carrying around most of my life undiagnosed by many therapist & Dr's until Pawnee Mental Health here in Junction City, KS. Whom finally gave me a… name that others I felt ignored or didn't catch. Pawnee showed me what it was and it had a name. They showed me this by going over what I had enclosed to them from my own answers and within my first few appointments, I was diagnosed and an action plan was given to me right away. I have felt important and safe with Pawnee right away and I still do.
Always friendly receptionists
I had a great experience with Pawnee, it helped me out a lot.
