Gateway Foundation – Lake Victoria Drive, Springfield Detox and Rehab Services

Treatment at Gateway Foundation – Lake Victoria Drive, Springfield covers detox, residential treatment and sober living. Withdrawal is managed under clinical observation before other treatment begins, which matters most in the first seventy-two hours for alcohol and benzodiazepines. Ask what the assessment recommends before comparing anything else.

Co-occurring mental health conditions are addressed alongside substance use, which is the approach the evidence supports. Supported housing is available for people continuing treatment after a more intensive stage. Medication and talking treatment run together under clinical oversight. Cost, travel and waiting time are all worth weighing together.

Staff cares, but on co ed the funding has gone down and in my opinion the quality has too. There is no social worker on the unit and it has been left to staff in the business office to fill in for the lack of qualified… counselors 2. They are running around with their heads caught off. I have private insurance and finance hasn’t talked to me about verifying coverage even though I have unitedhealthcare through CAT. I am here voluntarily and I had good memories of this unit but I do not believe they are funding this unit with the resources it requires. Transfer to a better Gateway. They are also changing the name of the facility and I find that interesting because it is still until the GateWay umbrella. They overwork counselors 1 and it is affecting the quality of care. I was here in 2022 when Paulina worked on the unit and in my opinion it is not the same without that guidance. The psychiatrist is online and I feel like it affects our quality of care. I would like to give a shoutout to the supervisor on co ed. I appreciate Walter for definitely being the one to look to for guidance. Erica counselor 1 holds down the roof and deserves a promotion. Mary is also wonderful. Gateway is excellent organization but this facility needs work if you are sent to co ed. Hopefully outpatient could work but. I am not holding my breathe. Corporate came down August 13 due to some issues with clients.

My name is Tyler. About three weeks ago I had checked myself into Gateway in hopes of having a positive recovery experience for the most part staff was friendly and accommodating. However upon my required search a staff… member by the name of “T” asked be if I wanted his pinky or his thumb in my anal cavity and winked at me. Those are not the words he used but I can assure you his specific vernacular was quite vulgar. I immediately protested his statement and he then referred to me as a few unpleasant names after thoroughly sexually harassing me. A nurse had witnessed this event and laughed while it was happening. “T” then proceeded to take my personal belongings and throw them in the dryer. He ruined a very nice nautica coat and an adidas tracksuit both of which I had worked very hard for. When I awoke the next working and discovered the condition of my clothing I reported it to a supervisor named Stephen. He told me I needed to keep it to myself. I left immediately that day. He also called my mother and told her a bunch of non factual garbage about how I was leaving “asa” which upset her. That same week I detoxed at a Rosecrance facility and had a MUCH better experience. I have reached out to this facility several times regard This experience and have been swept under the rug. I am a good person and will not tolerate that treatment from people who are supposed to be helpful. I am disgusted and frankly disappointed with what I thought was a good institution. Do not go there if you are looking for a positive recovery experience.

The experience was great. My counselor and others was also well, since I e left gateway I’ve been on a better track and able to utilize my coping skills in a professional manner. Groups were great as well and hearing… some of our counselor stories and how they’ve came from up under that addiction opened my eyes to have hope. If you’re suffering from addictions this would be a great start. It’s not ment to disappear it’s ment to be manageable.then and now

Gateway helped guide me to the road i needed to be on. Taught me to control my emotions. I became happy agin. I lost so much but gained much more. Especially knowledge, trust, i even got better with my PTSD. I found… myself. I was lost for a long time. I didnt want to got to rehab i though i heard it all. I was stubborn. I alots lost my family. They lost there son, brother, father, grandpa and husband. I became a stranger they didnt know. Slowly wathing me die. After trying to take my life and wife wanted me to leave i made a choice to go to Gatewa... best choice i made in yeary. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Sometimes us addicts must walk through hell to find out who we are meant to be.... Cody A Summers

I am updating my previous assessment of this facility to warn others about the systemic failures at Gateway. My experience here was not only unhelpful but actively damaging, and the community needs to understand the… reality behind the ads. 1. Unprofessionalism and HIPAA Violations: Despite their claims of 'personalized treatment,' the staff at Gateway—specifically individuals like Counselor Josh Ronan—frequently use public humiliation as a tool. When you attempt to open up about your personal life, they 'hang you out to dry' in front of a room full of people who have no regard for HIPAA laws or your privacy. The counselors are outspoken, judgmental, and repeatedly downgraded my intelligence, treating me as if I were a 'subservient' class of human rather than a patient seeking growth. 2. Counterproductive Group Dynamics: The group-session format is a failure. Sitting in a room for hours listening to others describe their 'instances' and 'war stories' is a psychological trigger that actually increases the urge to use. The environment is so poorly managed that it becomes less about recovery and more about toxic social dynamics. The only things I learned were the horrors of heroin (a substance I’ve never touched) and how to appreciate substances more because the 'Twelve-Step' system they push is a setup for failure. 3. Obsolete Ideology vs. Personal Will: Gateway relies on the 12-step program, which I find to be a form of obsolete brainwashing. They drill into you that you are 'powerless' and have 'no control.' This is clinically and spiritually incorrect. Recovery does not come from surrendering your agency; it comes from taking absolute responsibility for your own will. I have seen countless people leave this place only to relapse immediately because they were taught to be fools dependent on a system, rather than masters of their own lives. 4. Scriptural Hypocrisy: While Gateway staff encourage you to read the Bible, they demonstrate a total lack of understanding of the texts. They push 'powerlessness' while the actual teachings of Solomon in Proverbs and Ecclesiastes emphasize Mastery, Responsibility, and Discipline. They ignore this ancient, proven knowledge of substance integration in favor of a 'binary' model that results in a recidivism rate exceeding 75%. Conclusion: The system here is too corrupt and outdated to be trusted. The government endorses this place, but in reality, they are just running a revolving door that strips people of their self-worth and autonomy. You are the only one who has control over your life. Do not let this institution convince you that you are powerless or subservient. True recovery is found through intelligence, strong will, and taking up the responsibility of your own life—all things Gateway is incapable of teaching.

I had a great stay at Gateway. The staff was really awesome. I felt cared for and loved. Great work all around, much love to James at the front desk (I appreciate you!!), and Josh Ronan, a counselor, and Miss Kris,… another counselor. Gratitude to the entire nursing staff and all the other employees. If you are serious about going to rehab and getting into recovery, I would recommend coming to Gateway. They will give you all the tools you’ll need to stay clean on the outside. And they will take good care of you and be respectful to you while you’re staying there.

The employees here (most of them) are very nice. HOWEVER, there were some major things that should have been disclosed up front during the initial call to set this up BEFORE driving 2.5 hours to get over there. So let… me help you out, 1.If you are on any type of controlled substance/narcotics PRESCRIBED BY YOUR PHYSICIAN AT HOME, NOPE, CAN'T BRING THOSE WITH YOU, AND THEY WON'T GIVE THEM TO YOU THERE EITHER. SECOND, IF YOU DRIVE YOURSELF THERE, THEY WILL GO THROUGH YOUR VEHICLE EXTREMELY THOU ROUGHLY, FOR "CONTRABAND". I HAD THREE CANS OF MACE PILFERED FROM MY CAR, WHICH THEY INITIALLY TOLD ME WAS OK TO HAVE IN THE CAR. what difference does it make, considering they also tell you when you get in there they're taking your car keys and moving your vehicle FOR YOU to their "secure locked location", so why is my damn mace an issue? 80 dollars in police grade mace, pilfered. But it's a gotcha, your vehicle is now on their property, so they can legally pretty much take anything they want they see as "contraband". Mace was not on the list of "contraband" they would search for. It's not classified legally as a "weapon". Somebody probably just wanted three cans of really high end mace to bring home. those were just the main bullet points besides a few other minor issues. I checked myself out after a day in a half, and even my doctor at home was very unhappy they tried to fiddle around with the medications he had in place, the same way, for over a decade. What I was in there for had NOTHING to do with prescription drug abuse, if my doctor wants me on controlled substances and other medications he feels are necessary, DON'T MESS AROUND WITH THEM.
