Gavin Foundation – East 4th Street, Boston Detox and Rehab Services

Gavin Foundation – East 4th Street, Boston runs residential treatment. Ask what happens if the recommended level of care is not available immediately. Anyone can ask what a typical week looks like before starting. Cost, travel and waiting time are all worth weighing together.

Only one side is covered here, so ask directly if both are needed. Medication-assisted treatment combines approved medication with counseling and clinical review. Ask whether family can be involved and at what stage. Establishing what happens after the program ends is worth doing early.

Had the highest of hopes when my husband went here after decades in prison, thought if he was going to make it this would be the place with the best chance.Wrong, nothing was in place.Drugs and drink were in the house and… he succumbed,he was up to all sorts.Staff covered up a lot of stuff, turned a blind eye or didn’t care.Old pal network of if you know folk you are in.He complained about everything, did not appreciate anything, expected everyone to do everything for him, then when he left he was in the drugs and whoring within days.He was take take take from day he entered instead of being told to get himself together.Apart from a roof over his head and food for six months all he gained from Gavin House was more anger and frustration at everyone and everything.Pity his place was not given to someone it would have benefited.

I left the new Women's location in Dorchester after being told I could be on my psychiatric medications I needed, then once arriving there cut off of them completely cold turkey. Mind you there was no controlled… substances to make that clear. Even after leaving the house I have current clients still there telling me the staff is saying I was trying to over Medicate and just want to live the rest of my life relying on medications. I hate to break it to them but some people do need to be on medications that help them mentally. If you are on any medication at all and want to be in a safe place to stay sober I wouldn’t recommend there. I’m now in a sober house on my medications again and much more stable needless to say. Overall it is not a bad program and has a lot of structure but the staff are very critical and judge-mental.
