Generations Behavioral Health – Youngstown Detox and Rehab Services

Generations Behavioral Health – Youngstown is recorded as offering intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Day programming is scheduled, with evenings spent at home. Which of these is appropriate depends on an assessment, not on what sounds manageable at the time.

The listing records a single focus rather than combined treatment, so anyone needing both should confirm what is available. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

I absolutely love Dr. Parsons. I’ve been through the ring with psychiatrists and doctors. He’s the first of MANY to actually listen to me, break down what is happening, and work through the issues and actually care. He… is willing to go at your pace. He will go through your journey by your side. I have other friends whom have had him as their doctor for 7+ years! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. He is not a pill pusher who just wants your money. Give him a chance, and trust me, you won’t regret it.

This is the outpatient clinic, NOT the inpatient hospital. People are giving horrible reviews to a completely different place and type of business. The outpatient clinic with Dr Parsons is wonderful and after many years… of dealing with horrible mental health professionals, he is a God send. He listens, he is very knowledgeable, he is compassionate and really cares and wants you to be your best self and will work with you to help you achieve that. I could not recommend a mental health professional more than him.

My grandma was admitted her and within a couple days she was completely incoherent. Doesn't even have energy to talk and sounds even worse. They definitely drugged her. She was more aware before she stepped foot in… there.

DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY HERE!!!! They will keep you WAY longer than you are supposed to be here, even if it is a voluntary hold. My friend was admitted on Thursday of last week and i haven’t been able to get ahold of… him on the phone until TODAY (MONDAY) because of the rude staff that answers the phone. they have a bug infestation, and the workers do not take harassment claims seriously. if you truly care about the HEALTH and well being of yourself or your family member i highly suggest to find another facility!

The head psychiatrist at this facility needs to be investigated. He does not take the time working with the patients to make a valid diagnosis. Mental health is extremely dependent on one's physical health. He's just… writing people off as having mental health issues without giving them a proper evaluation.

THIS IS THE WORST PSYCH WARD STAY I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED! Staff is incredibly rude and argue with patients except for a select few. They do not treat patients with patient centered care, and nurses lack cultural… competency. I felt like I was seriously in jail. This place needs to be condemned and shut down IMMEDIATELY. This review is coming from a clinician, an SLP.

Do not send your family here for psychiatric care!!! According to my mom: They refused to give her an inhaler. They didn't believe she was diabetic. They gave her personal shirt that was sent with her to another… patient, without her permission as a "donation". They changed patients incontinence briefs and did perineal care in front of other patients in the cafeteria. Other patients they left sit in their own excrement for extended periods of time. They allowed a man into her room that had an intellectual disability, he smeared poop all over her bathroom, he messed with her food and he touched other patients. And when she tried reporting to a nurse tech named Faith for help, Faith was dismissive and wouldn't do anything. A nurse tech there shoved a patient so hard it made him fall, and when he fell his head was split open and all they did to help was put a small bandage on his head instead of checking for concussion and following proper fall procedures(nurse tech was named Nicky). Speaking of fall risk, they, at several points, neglected to make sure patients where in slip resistant socks, so there where several points when fall risk patients where left without a way to safely and sanitarily walk around. There was sick staff there serving food to patients. They had said that they hoped no one had an emergency because the difibulators don't work and their call lights where broke so if there was an emergency a patient couldn't ask for help. When confronted with these issues, there excuse was, my mom is delusional and they are short staffed. According to me: My mom having delusional states doesn't explain the bruises in the back of both her arms where she said she was grabbed. Or the ones across her chest, stomach or upper back. It doesn't explain the dismissive "not my problem" attitude from Kassandra(which I recorded my interaction with Kassandra after she started saying it isn't her fault or responsibility). Nor the fact Kassandra neglected to call the on call doctor to give my mom her meds, and as a result my mom missed her night dose. Kassandra also gave me a false time as to when the doctor does his rounds and because of that my mom's morning dose was late. My mom's mental state does not explain the inability to get a hold of a patient advocate. My mom having delusions doesn't explain why she is physically sick and needs antibiotics after this place. It doesn't explain why my mom was there a week and was still in the same hospital braclets she arrived in from the facility she was transfered to you guys from. My mom having delusions doesn't explain why, when I arrived to pick her up, staff was vaping inside and outside, and being on their phones instead of caring for patients. I understand smoke breaks and lunch breaks but the fact everyone who was outside and everyone chatting and watching videos at the desk ran to an employee only area when I arrived says it all. You hide the truth from families and abuse and neglect patients. There was only three competent people there and from my understanding one quit. I am a certified home health aide, Quantity doesn't quantify quality. If there are to many patients to give proper care then cut the amount of beds you have, don't treat your patients with abuse and neglect, just because there aren't enough other people for you to shove responsibilities on to. If you want to have a patient advocate call (I left a voicemail with my phone number) and explain why the bruises are there and explain what my mother could have possibly seen that could have been confused for a patients inconvenience briefs being changed near the food area, I am more then willing to listen. If it's a valid misunderstanding I'm more than willing to revoke what I wrote. But if it's not a misunderstanding, I would still like someone to reach out so we can make a plan and find a way to make sure this doesn't happen to any other patients at generations behavioral health in Youngstown ohio, going forward. This "care" is inhumane and abusive, and needs addressed for the safety of these individuals.

I didn’t feel safe here. I was supposed to be admitted for 72 hours and they kept me for 7 days! Kept me drugged up on antidepressants that did nothing but make me sleepy. Day time Nurses were mean tbh, but the night… ones were a little nicer. The facility could be cleaner. Mold in drink machine. Food was nasty. Doctor was never ever there. I felt alone and isolated. Nothing to do but draw and watch tv. Most group sessions got canceled. The counselors marci and damien were super nice! I loved them. Anyways I met a few good people. A lot of people in there need a lot of help this place can’t offer. Don’t recommend and if you get sent here I am so sorry.

Dr. Parsons is the best there is. I’ve been under his care for about 14/15 years. I’ve driven over an hour at times to continue to stay under his treatment. He listens to you and does not dismiss you. He knows you are… human; he knows you can laugh at a joke, but he still understand you may not be doing well. He is very thorough and does his best to do what is most beneficial for your individual situation. Thank You
