Rehabs That Take Buckeye Health Plans

Buckeye Health Plan is an Ohio Medicaid managed care plan owned by Centene, and its plans can cover drug and alcohol treatment, with benefits varying by plan, network and level of care.Listed centers, in Ohio and neighboring states, name Buckeye Health Plan on their own websites. Because Buckeye members usually need in-network care, call the facility first to ask which Buckeye products it accepts, then call Buckeye to check network status, prior authorization for detox or residential stays, referral requirements and any copays or other costs you may face before admission. Keep your member ID card nearby when you call.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does Buckeye Health Plan cover rehab?

Yes, substance use treatment is a covered benefit. Buckeye's 2026 Ohio Medicaid handbook names case management, peer recovery support, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, residential treatment and withdrawal management. Ambetter marketplace plans and the Wellcare Medicare and MyCare plans also include substance use benefits, with costs set by plan line.

Medication-assisted treatment and opioid treatment program services are separate covered items. Medicaid Member Services at 1-866-246-4358 can confirm network status before an admission.

Medicaid Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicaid/
Does Buckeye Health Plan cover detox?

Yes, withdrawal management is covered. It is a named substance use benefit on Ohio Medicaid, and Wellcare Buckeye MyCare Ohio Dual Align covers inpatient and residential substance use care at $0 copay. Authorization is required once withdrawal management passes seven consecutive days, with a 48-hour decision timeframe.

Medical necessity is judged against ASAM criteria drawn from a multidimensional assessment. Emergency room and post-stabilization services never need prior authorization.

Medicaid Detoxhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicaid/medicaid-detox/
Does Buckeye Health Plan cover residential rehab?

Yes, residential treatment is covered on the Ohio Medicaid plan, and Wellcare Buckeye MyCare Ohio Dual Align covers inpatient and residential substance use care at $0 copay. Ohio Medicaid allows up to 30 consecutive days without prior authorization for the first two stays, with authorization needed after that.

Inpatient facility admissions always need prior authorization, and urgent or emergent admissions require notification within two business days.

Buckeye Health Plan is an Ohio managed care company owned by Centene Corporation, writing Medicaid managed care, Ambetter marketplace coverage, Wellcare Medicare Advantage and the Next Generation MyCare plan for dual-eligible members. Addiction treatment is a benefit on all four lines, but the rules that govern a detox admission or a residential stay differ from one line to the next.

Buckeye has operated in Ohio since 2004, is based in Columbus and reports more than 300,000 members across its products. The Medicaid plan runs in all 88 counties, Ambetter is sold in all but 16 of them, and the Wellcare Medicare plans cover the whole state. The MyCare Ohio Medicare-Medicaid Plan ended on December 31, 2025, and those members were moved automatically to Wellcare Buckeye MyCare Ohio Dual Align (HMO D-SNP) on January 1, 2026 with new coverage and new member ID cards.

This guide sets out which levels of care each Buckeye line pays for, where prior authorization applies and what the thresholds are, what a stay costs under Medicaid, MyCare and the Wellcare plans, how medication for opioid use disorder is paid for in Ohio, and how to find a program that holds a Buckeye contract.
