About Liberty Health Services – Derry
Liberty Health Services operates from 29 Ashleigh Drive in Derry. The site sits in Rockingham County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Exeter, Hampstead and Londonderry. New Hampshire draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Detox, residential treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment and telehealth appointments. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Detox and Rehab Services at Liberty Health Services
Withdrawal management covers alcohol, benzodiazepine, cocaine, methamphetamine and opioid dependence and is handled on site rather than referred elsewhere. Someone starting in detox can move into residential care without changing provider or repeating an intake. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Residential here is short-term, which makes what follows discharge the more important question. Buprenorphine and naltrexone are available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Liberty Health Services Reviews and Ratings
Questions worth keeping in mind while reading Liberty Health Services reviews: Was the assessment explained clearly? Were costs set out early? Was there a plan for after treatment?
Accounts that address points like these are usually the most informative.
Did the inpatient treatment here. Facilities were clean and food was good. Lots of freedom to eat and socialize whenever you want. Staff was very friendly but sometimes didn’t communicate well between shifts and missed… some important documentation. Also rooms were very hot and requests to turn down the temperature were not taken seriously. That said I would recommend this facility.
UPDATE2: Down to one ⭐ as they lied to me about cost. I just received a bill from my insurance company for 2000 more dollars. They actually billed my insurance company over $25,000 for pretty much nothing. I am now… responsible for $2000 of that. This place is a total joke stay away from it at all costs. And Joe Doherty is a lying alcoholic don't listen to a word this clown has to say! UPDATE: So I went back for 4 more days and it only got worse. Zero help for any of my issues (not an alcoholic but they just couldn't accept that). See my original review below. Not going to get into a lot of details, but the main issues are, Rooms, meetings, food, and constantly trying to get you to do Residency program, IE Inpatient rehab. Total money grab! I will never go back there. This time, haven't drank yet since (day 8). But I haven't given it up! My original review was ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars, as you can see it's only ⭐⭐ now! It could have been ⭐ but I added 1⭐for the clinicians, who were all awesome! ORIGINAL: Seems like they are well liked by their patience's. Unfortunately it did not work for me but mainly because I don't believe in AA! I only lasted a couple of days. Mostly all they did was read from the Big book and like I said I don't believe in any of that and way too much religion for me (don't believe in that either), Care was minimal at best, rooms and bed basic quality (not great, 2 beds and a TV). Staff was friendly and always helpful. Unfortunately really not anything to do there but sit around all day. Food was okay, but again not for me as I am on eight years of keto diet. So I barely what I ate the two and a half days that I was there, probably cost them like $5 in food😂. Anyway don't go by what I say, give them A try YOU may like them and they may work wonders for YOU. I'm A bit of an odd bird. I am a problem drinker not an alcoholic. Meaning I can go days without drinking but then get drunk at a party or an event, not much different than most of my friends and family, or pretty much anybody that drinks. Can go out for dinner with my wife and have one drink for the whole night/day. Not sure that qualifies as an alcoholic. That's probably why I had zero withdrawals of any kind and felt totally normal for the three days (except hungry) and haven't drank yet since (day 5). But I haven't given it up! Good luck!
Went for 18 days, Detox takes a week.they offered me to go to a sober house, said they would help with my paid leave of absence and a transfer to another Walmart near the sober house, waited a week or more, never heard… anything about My leave or transfer, ended up in the emergency room from medication they were giving me,I told them that I didn't take that medicine because it made me feel sick, they continued to give me the medicine without me knowing.when I called them for help they said my insurance was good and covered it, now I have a bill for 2000.when I returned from the hospital I had to wear a mask,my roommate was scared to come in the room,I asked them to move him because he didn't want to get sick, there were empty rooms available and the staff refused.I told them the next day I didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable because they were saying I had a virus and I was going to leave.they didn't want anyone to know that they messed up my medicine and almost killed me.when I asked for a ride to the bus station they told me your on your own and threw me out into a foot and a half of snow in New Hampshire,I live 2 hrs away in Massachusetts, they got me an Uber to get there but as soon as I stopped them sucking off my insurance I was treated horrible.now think about it does it sound like they care about sobriety or money.none of them have any education, they are there for a paycheck and that's all.they have been harassing me for 4 months because they messed up the billing and checks were mailed to me,I mailed them the checks and now they want to go to court,I can't wait.its what they get paid for to collect the insurance money, they couldn't even do that right.come to find out they never even contacted my work and lied to me to keep me there and make more money, sad company to go to for help, DON'T DO IT
I was really scared to make this jump. They made it really easy and I wish I had came sooner. Staff is really helpful and I am still doing well and it all started here.
Joe Doherty said he’s manager on site tonight 2/26/2026 11:23 told my boyfriend he has beds available went thru the whole intake process asked a bunch of personal questions told him to pack his bags and said he has the… uber ready just has to press a button n to let him know when he’s ready and 15 mins later he calls and said yeah sorry we can’t take u tonight we are short staffed and denied treatment also claims we are being rude when he has someone hopes up…also not to mention he should have never said yes there is a bed and did intake…then said he double checked and there’s only 1 nurse on site tonight…with how many people there..just doesn’t sit right with me…he’s been here plenty of times the people here are always kind and super helpful..this guy just hates his job..just constantly talks about himself how he’s a recovering alcoholic n talks down to people trying to get help…trying to compare himself to the people doing intake…I thought liberty was here to help people that want help..not push people away….im not a recovering anything and he was talking to my boyfriend like he was nothing probably didn’t think I was listening…FIRE JOE #FJD
Management/Finance - who knows how much it costs???? Self paided and left ama after a few days of miscommunication and case mgr not caring enough to use correct pronouns for my adult children visiting. Partner wasn’t… allowed and was told to sit in the car! Went back because overall all staff I interacted with daily showed they care. The case manger and AJ seem to be all about the money unfortunately. I Self paid the 2nd time, $18K no discount although they have sliding scales and scholarships and GOD only knows what else to offer to whom they choose. I told him after a lot of praying what I decided I didn’t want for aftercare which was IOP and going into sober living but because I was fragile, not feeling ready to leave and and needed a couple days before checking out, my option was to do IOP at a new facility “their friend” just opened for his low price of $6,000! and we will let you stay 2 more days. Never mind the $18K paid and left AMA with no refund or prorate. Needless to say, we question ourselves all the time and rely on these people to guide us in the direction that is best for us NOT what is best for the$m!
I am so grateful to all the staff. Thank you for your empathy, kindness and compassion. You pulled me through my darkest days. I have no words to describe how I checked in broken and left knowing I would heal. Liberty… heals...
I recently had the pleasure of receiving treatment at Liberty Health Services, and I can confidently say it was the best healthcare experience I've ever had. The staff were incredibly professional and caring, the food… was delicious, and the overall services were spectacular. Their residence program was also amazing, especially if you're willing to put in the work. I highly recommend Liberty Health Services to anyone in need of top-quality care!
Great Facility, very friendly staff who care about what they do. Highly recommended.
If you’re struggling with a substance abuse problem? There is no better TEAM in this community! They are the community! THEY HAVE BEEN THERE!!! They istablished this organization! With an abundance of compassion!… Absolutely Wonderful! Thank You! Every one of you!😊
first time doing a 30 day stay and I couldn’t be more thankful for this facility and staff! I’m currently 9months sober thank god and to this place, I stayed here around June 10th and it was the best thing I’ve ever… done this is the longest I’ve been sober in my 16 year career I’m 29 rn the staff, food, activities, classes and everything else was amazing here even Chapters was a great place ! I hope to never drink again but if I did I’d go here for the help again 10/10 I recommend
Well run facility, very clean, caring and compassionate staff. I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for treatment that provides the best care available
Had a loved one who was struggling with alcohol, she came here for detox and residential inpatient treatment. She had a great experience and is coming up on six months sober! She said that everyone was friendly and… supportive through her stay. She was hesitant to travel out of RI but we are so glad that she did.
Amazing place staff is great, they pull out all the stops to make your stay as comfortable as possible
I’ve been blessed to have a connection with this group and the people have played a vital role in my recovery journey.
Two stars at best. Thankfully, I am two years sober now, but I have been there three times before. It was a disaster. Beds are extremely uncomfortable, facility was extremely unsanitary to the point where I had beg to… have the bathrooms clean because they were so filthy. they could not keep a cleaning crew. It got to the point where the TECHS were cleaning the place because they could not hire anybody to keep the place clean. The cafeteria was so disgusting that there were gnats and flies on the windows sills. Staff is EXTREMELY rude. Then out of NOWHERE last night, not to mention 9:30 last night from Katie, who was my least favorite person there. I was in bed when she called. I would never recommend this place to anybody! Run! So many nicer facilities out there
A life changing experience. Some places are there to help you dry out and achieve abstinence, but Liberty helps you change at your core and achieve TRUE SOBRIETY. I have been sober for 62 days now and have LHS to thank.… I will be back for a committment in 2025. Please choose LHS if you need help. ~Steph Christian 9/23/24-10/26/24
Worst facility I’ve ever been to. They lie, you will not get medicated. Amy from admissions told my husband and I nothing but lies! They called me 3 times a day for a week because they can’t keep clients. Food sucks.… Didn’t eat in 3 days not one person tried to help.they charge you 10 for a 1 vape. If you care about a loved one or family member this is the last place on earth I’d send them.
Liberty health service is a good place to fix your sobriety. It the best service around in the state near Massachusetts and in New Hampshire. The staff is really good here and the nurses are really caring plus the techs… and management here is about getting you sober and sticking to it for the rest of your life. If your a foodie you will love the food here and they have great cooks from Star to Katelyn and Darlene who cook the food like it there life and they do such a great job!! If I was anyone who need to get sobriety I would recommend this place with my heart and it the best for detox and resident All in All if you come for detox I would recommend resident because detox is not gonna get you through for sobriety. This place also is always clean and they make you feel like home.
This was my 1st, hopefully last Rehab I went to the staff excellent, the groups fantastic and the food wasn't bad at all. My only complaint is the temperature..otherwise the best experience I learned a lot and continue… to utilize the coping skills I learned liberty is highly appreciated and recommended
This was one of the best rehabs I’ve ever been too, and I’ve been to quite a few. They meet with you everyday when you are in detox to make sure you are doing ok, that the protocol is working & you don’t need to have… any changes made to the meds etc. The Nurses (Donna, Jen) are top notch, caring and kind individuals who really care. The techs are mostly all in recovery so they understand, can empathize with you & work very hard to help you! The kitchen is open 24/7 with leftovers always available, cereal, coffee etc. They sell cigarettes and vapes (cheap N.H. prices) You can go outside whenever you want, any any time day and night, no scheduled smoke breaks. They do your laundry on Tuesday & Thurs. They really care about you and treat you like a human not a number. The food was good and you can order something else for any meals ( grilled cheese, BLT or chicken). There’s always soup & salad too. The NP, James, really knows what he is doing. With his help, I got a 10 year addiction under control because he used a very effective protocol that no other rehab ever tried to do. I have been to countless rehabs for this issue and until I met him, no one could help me. They all did a 4 day detox and was sick the whole time and would leave early. This place saved my life, but I was ready to finally put in the work. I was going to die if didn’t! Thank you Liberty!
Top notch services; down-to-earth staff. I would highly recommend for anyone suffering from addiction or alcoholism
Great team of professionals. Had the pleasure of meeting their team and how well they treat their patients!
I was terrified to go and immediately ALL staff made me so comfortable. They went out of their way to provide amazing care that definitely went above and beyond their job responsibilities. In addition they made a… culture where all us clients got close and made great friendships! Greatest decision I ever made.
Amazing staff and facility. The food and amenities are great as well!
Great facilities and food, helpful and personable staff. Perfect place to go when you’re in a bad spot
Food is excellent, staff truly cares and is phenomenal. Kept very clean and the nurses are incredible.
