About Lifeways Behavioral Hospital – Boise

Lifeways Behavioral Hospital operates from 8050 Northview Street in Boise. The site sits in Ada County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Boise City, Garden City and Hidden Springs. Idaho draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.

Hospital inpatient care, partial hospitalization and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Treatment Services at Lifeways Behavioral Hospital

Hospital inpatient care, partial hospitalization and outpatient care run to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone.

Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Lifeways Behavioral Hospital Address, Location and Contact Information

The address is 8050 Northview Street, Boise, ID 83704, in Ada County. The catchment reaches Boise City, Garden City and Hidden Springs. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.

Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Opening hours shift with staffing, and an evening slot one month may not exist the next. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

How Much Does Treatment at Lifeways Behavioral Hospital Cost?

Private-pay rehab in Idaho typically costs $5,000 to $18,000 a month for residential treatment, $6,000 to $11,000 a month for a partial hospitalization program and $1,000 to $4,000 a month for standard outpatient care. Those are state-level figures, because RehabSeekers did not find published prices for Lifeways Behavioral Hospital – Boise at the time of writing.

Most programs build accommodation, meals, the intake assessment, group therapy and individual counseling into the price, and Lifeways Behavioral Hospital probably does the same. Medication, lab tests and psychiatric appointments are often billed separately. Ask Lifeways Behavioral Hospital for a figure based on your needs and what it includes.

Lifeway's hospital was the very first mental hospital that I was court ordered to be in due to a suicide attempt at only 19 years old. I was so scared and anxious. From the moment I arrived, everyone was kind to me. I… stayed for 3 days. It's a very small building (about 16 rooms, I believe). You don't have a roommate which was awesome. Night staff was by far my favorite staff. Day staff was also good. I just preferred night staff because they matched my humor more. Probably because it was less chaotic during night time lol. All the groups were awesome and optional. I was able to call my loved ones anytime I wanted except after lights out. Food was basically hospital food, but it wasn't terrible. I am not diminishing anyone's experience. I do believe that nurses and even volunteers can be rude and disrespectful. That was not my experience. Every doctor listened to me. All the workers were accommodating. Personally, I had a great experience. I hope to never go back for obvious reasons, but Lifeway's would be my first option if needed. That terrified 19 year old was taken care of by all the staff. I would recommend 🫶🏼

If i could give 0 stars i would. First of all Katie the director of nursing was so cold towards me i felt i couldnt even open up to her or anyone else after i experienced her unwelcoming demeanor. I honestly felt so… alone while getting treated here. I understand why there are so many bad reviews I only came here out of desperation. Shellie who i believe is a tech manager, anytime she was around would be short and rude and i am not the only one who feels this way. This is not a place to rehabilitate this place i feel sets patients up for failure after prescribing them meds then discharging them.

Do not fall for all of the fake reviews! Lifeways is not a hospital. They feed you more, and better in jail than they do here. Staff is extremely lazy and unprofessional. They lie all the time and most of them are rude… and disrespectful. Shelly thinks she's the CEO of this place and tells Everyone what to do and then acts like she's your friend. She's not the only rude, disrespectful lazy liar there though. They fed us rotten potatoes for dinner one night, and everyone put in grievances about it. They didn't do a thing. They have a perfectly good kitchen to hire their own kitchen staff for, but instead they hire a third party "life's kitchen" that make mistakes constantly and feed you the same small portions pretty much every single day. It costs 1500 dollars a night to stay there and yet they don't have the money to feed the patients decent meals.

When I came to Lifeways hospital I was in very deep crisis and I cannot stress enough that the amazing workers there saved my life. I had a much better experience there than either of the 2 other inpatients I've been… in. Cannot recommend them enough!

In and out of hospitals since I was a kid. Lifeways was - by far - the most hospitable. The staff were great, the food was good, and I actually left feeling like maybe I would like to volunteer, or otherwise try to give… some effort of my own to help out the team. So, BIG THANKS and kudos to the team… from “Pili”. Keep up the great work, you all deserve doughnuts and a raise! Cheers!🍻

The director of nursing is very unprofessional. And the director of the hospital refused to allow me access to my kid claiming that the hospital's policy is that the patients are not allowed visits for 72 hours and… everyone is very unprofessional and more worried about policy than the patients. My kid is in voluntarily and not on a 72 hrs hold

This place is amazing I went to them with nothing everyone had given up on me and the hospital saved me I'm very appreciative that they gave me the time and effort I want to thank all of the staff but personally I want… to thank Jim, Erica, Anna, Tiffany and many more they took me off my medication that weren't working and put me on medication that is working they are so amazing I had a really bad moment and they still helped me and I am so so so grateful for them thank you so much.

Realistically, zero stars. Came here to detox from prescription medication and had my sterling silver cross necklace stolen from me. It was on my inventory, but when I left, they conveniently couldn’t find it. I was… also missing a Winco gift card from my purse as well. They blocked incoming calls for me as well. I don’t know what is going on at this place, but they clearly are shady and Don’t care about the well-being of the people that they’re treating.

Wow!!. . I can't believe anyone could give a rating higher than this... Would give a ZERO if I could..I was trying to reach a loved one and they left me on speaker phone (Could hear them in the background just joking… away and not even making an attempt to contact love one)... SICKENING!!...CAN YOU IMAGINE IF YOU HAD A LOVE ONE AT LIFEWAY'S AND CANNOT CONTACT THEM BECAUSE OF A BUNCH OF VERY UNPROFESSIONAL NURSE'S AND STAFF???

I spent 9 days here. The staff treated me with respect and dignity. My incoming nurse, Erika, was very patient and kind, a real genuine person. Erika, I appreciate so much you loving care and am going to miss you. To… the other nurses, Jim, Eric, Anna, Alexis, Divina, Jerry, and all the others, you all demonstrated a level of humanity and compassion that is so need in the world today. Thank you all for your wonderful support in this difficult time of my life. To the techs, Ibra, Jakin, Hannah, Shelby, Krystel, Hope Erin, Nora, CJ, and all the other techs I've missed, you all have a genuine desire to help those in need which I'm so grateful to have met you all. You are all wonderful people, so thank you so much. Never did I once feel pressured to participate in group therapy nor did I see them pressure any other patients as well. The food was very good. Breakfast consisted of oatmeal, some type of fruit, blueberries, strawberries, or black berries, a protein, usually hard boiled eggs or scrambled eggs and a drink, milk, apple juice, orange juice, or cranberry juice. For lunch we were served turkey or roast beef sandwiches with baked Lay's chip or salad. I would say the sandwiches were top notch. We also had chicken salad or tuna wraps. For dinner, we were served chicken, broccoli, rice dish, sliced beef from a roast or meatloaf. The sides consisted of salad, fresh carrot and celery sticks with ranch dip, mashed potatoes with gravy, or steamed broccoli and carrots, chicken carbanara with some of the best garlic bread I've ever had, enchiladas with refried black bean, and a chicken and rice soup. All dinner meals came with an after dinner dessert like mini ice cream sandwiches, spiced cake, jello, or a pudding. I thought all the meals had great flavor. With that, if you needed extra flavor the following was available: salt and pepper, ranch, hot sauce, and mayonnaise and mustard. Chief Glen always prepared our food with love and I appreciate his effort. To the administration staff, you have a great group of employees that are truly dedicated to helping and making a difference in others life. Also, a very big thanks to Lenette, I hope that is right, the housekeeper. She did a great job keeping everything fresh and clean, laundry picked up, and fresh bedding. I appreciate your dedication, as some would veiw this as a dirty j. But, a little secret, I like to clean the bathrooms too. Lastly, a big shout of praise to my SW, Kacey. I am thankful to have had such a kind, loving, and wonderful person to help me. You showed genuine concern for me in my troubling situation and never made me feel ashamed or worthless. I thank you so much for your help with finding me a therapist for my specific illness and I will always remember you. I am forever grateful for you assistance and hope that we may cross paths in public. I wish all of the staff the best and hope we cross paths in the public as well. You are all the best..

At first, I hated this place. It felt like a lazy jail, because technically you can’t leave. You also have to wear scrub pants and a scrub shirt if you don’t bring your own clothes with you. The food they make was… always a simple, easy dish with no flavor. They also don’t supply the women in this place with tampons or even pads for when we get our periods. However, they DO give you smoke breaks every hour—Unlike Intermountain Mental Hospital. You never want to get sent to intermountain. It’s worse than Lifeways. I started kind of liking Lifeways simply because I was able to make a friend in there, who helped make my time in there a lot more tolerable. Also, the group activities weren’t that bad at all. Sometimes they were sort of fun. My least favorite part of being in this place was when they’d wake me up at 5:00 in the morning just to check my vitals. I am not a morning person. Other than that, the staff there was pretty nice to me and lenient at times. I’d come here again if I ever have another life crisis.

Overall, very good. I was in for 12 days. I had previously been in Intermountain for 4 days, St. Al's for 6, and after to Cottonwood Creek for four days. Lifeways is mostly my favorite. Though not perfect. Two things I… did not much like though.. the psych docs and social workers were overly pushy about me staying as long as I did. I was a voluntary commit, and they still were very persuasive about keeping me a long time.. I have mixed feelings about that. The only other thing i really didn't like was the bed. The mattress was very old and crushed in, on top of a slab of wood, not a box spring. I have back problems, and this mattress would not do. I asked for pillows, and was lucky they could spare 3 that I could put under my mattress. Two would have not been enough. Other than that, pretty much everything and everyone except one of the docs and one of the NP's or PA's, was good to great. And the food, which was at times just adequate, but other times good. The nurses were very compassionate. Wonderful people. The psych techs were all really great too. I even sent a thank you card to the day and night crews. They were awesome. Another great thing unique to Lifeways is the smoke breaks. Even those who don't smoke can go outside something like ten times a day. I was out there 8 times per day, walking around the yard, sometimes shooting baskets, sitting in the sun. Great! I was not there during the summer though. St. Al's,, I got outside once. Just grass in the yard. Intermountain let us out at least once per day. Basketball hoop, room to throw a football. Cottonwood Creek, not always allowed outside once per day, because in July it is too hot for the staff, apparently. I would have gone outside, but oh well. Yard nice to walk in, though no hoop if I remember correctly. What's also great at Lifeways.. more groups, including useful groups like exercise - chair yoga and tai chi, more groups to go to, including at least one in the evening, which means less time to pass. Less groups at the other facilities. And another awesome thing.. Each patient gets his or her own room! No snoring, difficult roommates! How did I get into Lifeways? While in the St. Luke's ER as a voluntary commit, I called Lifeways to ask if they had beds. They did, and said they would send over info to St. Luke's. Politely advocate for yourself while in the ER. Try to get in where you want to go. The day room is pleasant enough. Comfortable couches, Netflix on a big TV, Good chairs at the table. And, while I was there, a beat up elliptical machine, which broke while I was on it, and a gazelle exercise machine, which was quite squeaky and annoyed other patients, but worked fine otherwise. I was very grateful for the exercise equipment I could use whenever. After unfortunately having been in all four mental hospitals this year, I'd say Lifeways is the best, except that I have mixed feelings on letting myself be talked into about staying so long. Not sure if I should deduct a star for that, because I'm not sure if they were right to want to keep me. If not for that, the really bad bed, and the possibility of ECT (which I have as of yet not tried, and might not) at Cottonwood, I would have gone into Lifeways again. I ride by there a lot, since I drive on Northview, and sometimes go to church across the street, and almost miss being inside there. So.. of the four.. Lifeways was best. Cottonwood Creek, 2nd.. wonderful staff, except a doctor I didn't care for, great facilities, good to great food, only one roommate. It's really difficult choice between the other facilities. St. Al's had great staff, the best food, and great facilities, but 3 to 4 people in a room, and the hardcore schizophrenics in with much more mild people instead of being in a separate wing.. not good! Intermountain.. woebegone old furniture in the small day room. Very uncomfortable chairs at the table. Worst food of the four. But a mostly great staff, and only one roommate. So that was good. All 4 had mostly great staff,. Hope this review helps!

I was never in this situation. Was placed here against my own will. When my hold expired they still wouldn’t let me leave with out seeing 3 doctors. Now I’m left with 4 bills that I shouldn’t be in charge with. They… took my rights away just so they can earn a few hundred bucks. Find that unfair and especially with why I’m so depressed because the health system screws us and have us get by with the little we have. I left worse with my feeling because of these bills. I don’t see what help they give when all they do is see dollar signs. I DONT WANT TO SEE A REVIEW TO CALL TO HELP WITH THIS MATTER. YOU DIDNT HELP ME THEN AND YOU WONT HELP NOW.
