About LSSI – Elgin
LSSI sits at 675 Varsity Drive, Elgin — around 3.8 miles from Streamwood and 4.0 from South Elgin. That radius takes in Streamwood, Elgin, South Elgin and East Dundee, all within 5 miles. Elgin is in Kane County, which shapes which public funding routes apply.
LSSI provides residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Federal registration is held through SAMHSA and licensing through the Illinois Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery. LSSI – Elgin Detox and Rehab Services
LSSI – Elgin runs residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. What suits one person will not suit another, so ask directly. It is reasonable to ask how progress is reviewed and by whom.
The focus here is on one side rather than combined treatment, so anyone needing both should confirm what is available. Medication-assisted treatment combines approved medication with counseling and clinical review. Whether medication is available is worth confirming at the outset.

28 days and never had a one on one conversation with my counselor. Unless you’re a smoker that place did absolutely nothing for me. Group meetings were like having a substitute teacher who just put in a movie and then… left for an hour and a half. Sad to look around and see people who wanted and needed help but never actually got any. Complete waste of time. Nobody there is in it for anything more than a paycheck
I came to LSSI back in 2019 & I didn’t care for my counselor but everything else was great! Everyone was very caring the counselor just didn’t seem to truly understand or care to try. But besides that it was amazing. I… didn’t stay sober unfortunately but I did end up getting officially sober and never had to see another rehab again. I got for real sober February 14th 2022 and got back with my husband & he got sober we both got our own house now up in Danville il & I have both of my kids back & got custody of my son back from his abusive father this past January, the son I lost right before going to LSSI. Thank you for everything, without the things I learned here and my time here I would have never been able to succeed! God is so good & WE DO RECOVER! God is good all day every day as we used to say! 💖 this is us this passed fall. Forgot to add I had another baby which is the little girl 5 years ago haha. Few years after I got out of LSSI!
Truly ashamed after yesterday's events, George and the old staff I remember are lovely. It's a shame though Trey, Taylor a bunch of good people gone I like the remodeling though .
Helpful
I left respectfully didn't give me a ride to the train station left me walking 45 minutes with a suitcase will never go here again worst rehab I've been to they also lock you upstairs at 8 pm with no TV or anything
They told me they had an open bed and to call Monday morning . So I did , they answered and I was about to do the intake but I guess they had technical issues, the lady told me she was going to call me in 10 minutes I… waited and waited for hours I called them so many times and they rejected my calls. Left a voice mail as well . I never got a call back. This is extremely disappointing for someone that actually wants to get into treatment and get clean. LSSI was an amazing treatment center 6+ years ago when I completed IOP I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone anymore seems like they don’t care about addicts anymore they’re customer service sucks don’t even waste your time calling they never pick up the phone
I recently had somebody very close to me at LSSI for addiction. But he also struggles with mental health and has severe brain trauma. His counselor was made aware. I attended a meeting with his counselor so we could… discuss the issues he was having. My friend did struggle with behavioral issues while at LSSI. I spoke with his counselor on a friday afternoon to discuss different options for treatment. During this conversation he assured me, they were not going to kick him out of their program, nor put him out on the street. We discussed some different options, and they were gonna come up with a plan for treatment. They said they would reach out to me to keep me updated. Not even 24 hours later, the weekend staff put him out on the street, with nowhere to go, no money in his pocket, and refused to give him his cell phone. Not to mention, there were severe storms moving into the area. This is a person that was struggling with mental health, severe brain trauma, disabled, and addiction. When I contacted them pleading for them to have his direct counselor please call me. They refused. In fact, they threatened to call the police if he did not get off their property immediately. Mind you, this is somebody that's also disabled and did not pose any kind of physical threat. The way they handled this was completely unprofessional, inappropriate, and downright disgusting. Refusing to give him his personal property, so he had a way to reach out for help was very cruel. I will be filing an official complaint against this facility. And I would not recommend anyone sending their loved ones here. It's the lack of care and compassion from the staff, it's horrendous. Don't put your loved ones in this facility!!!! Not to mention....in my complaint, I'm not even including the other things that go on in this facility that are very inappropriate. STAY AWAY!!!!! My friends 2 week stay was in August 2025
My sister after 3 days fell and ended up in the hospital with a broken hip. She told the staff when she felt dizzy and she was denied going to lay down in her room. I guess there were some sort of mattress that she had… to lay on for lime 16 hours a day??? I need to speak to someone asap.
Perfect for rehab great food staff cares wouldnt go twice clean groups are repetitive great place to be
I Sent my daughter here for substance abuse.I wish I wouldn't of.She was only there 1week and she called me to come get her.She was physically attacked by another patient and defended herself and she was discharged for… defending herself. There are several several bad reviews on this place. Its not a clean place Some of the staff members are rude.I would not recommend sending your loved one here.May be as a last resort only.See attached photo.Staff knew of the situation between patient and my daughter and nothing was done to prevent the attack on my daughter.
Went to inpatient outpatient and the halfway house program next door after inpatient and did my outpatient simultaneously i ended up getting a job and it was very overwhelming at times having to work do my outside… meetings for my recovery in-house meetings that are usually 12 step based which are mandatory also the outpatient and juggling them all but honestly it was so uplifting and life changing it shocked me into having no choice but to make it happen or go back to being homeless and living on the streets I was tired of the way I had lived all my life gangs drugs crime and I doubled down got closer to God and my lord and Savior Jesus Christ and I did it I have a full time job make close to 22$ an hour have stayed clean im about to complete the minimum time span to finish successfully as well as IOP and I just got my license back a car and im about to move in my new place with my wife im so greatful for this program and the things I learned from life itself as well as this program ❤ 🙏🏻 thank you so much to all the staff that guided and helped me along the journey 💯💪🏻🙏🏻
My son has been in the rehab for a month and now in the recovery...he really likes it and for the 1st time i see him wanting to .ove forward
This place changed and saved my life. I know Kirstie is no longer there, but she saved me.
I just dropped off my best friend here yesterday (Tuesday, November 15th 2022) for 28 day treatment. The staff who answered the door was very nice. My best friend told me they're very lenient there. It's Co-Ed, you can… bring your own clothes, wear makeup, have smoke breaks, etc. When I pick my best friend up in (now 27 more days) , I will give an actual REAL review on how her visit was.
They violated HIPPA laws by sharing personal things that were said in "closed group" when I had nobody listed to share with. This is an illegal practice and they shouldn't be licensed. The "counselors" were… unprofessional and at times, borderline abusive. If you aren't in group, you're eating, watching a movie, smoking, or in your room. I got clean on my own after leaving early in spite of what happened there and I am still going strong over a decade later. This place wants your money to fill beds. That is all that they care about. I would highly reccomend that you look for another place for your recovery. Your LIFE is on the line and I wouldn't recommend anyone putting their lives in these people's hands. 700 views and counting...
Abusive counselors, extremely unprofessional staff, very demeaning and discouraging environment overall. Go somewhere else if at all possible.
Not even a 1. Got myself sober, worst experience ever
Amazing place! The staff gave me HOPE, when I was doing what I called, "the last chance dance". I'd had the gift of sobriety and couldn't get it back. The counselors aren't there for the money, that's for sure! They… have a wonderful team that really cares, MANY are sober thrmselves. The majority have decades of sobriety. My poinst is, they know what they are doing and what is best for us when we don't. I celebrated 2 years, one day at a time in April. I recommend LSSI to anyone that is serious about getting and STAYING sober. Laura M.
All staff were excellent. I completed the 28 day program in which when I began the program I did not believe I would be able to complete it ... Only cause I had self doubt & failing issues ... They helped me in a… considerable way ... From anger issues, past issues & understanding my addictions in a way better format. Thank you to all the staff at L.S.S.I. ---- Joel Ford ( Rockford, IL. )
They are very intelligent professionals and they care.
Great place for recovery
Staff was great, amazing place to go if your serious about your recovery.
Worst staff ever.. ..Need to change standards and favouritism
I'm hoping they had a huge turn around with the staff since I've been there. The staff made the "addicts" feel absolutely terrible about themselves. It was almost as if they were trying to be emotionally abusive just to… set us up for failure. I understand treatment centers are supposed to be strict. There's nothing wrong with the rules, however, the staff honestly didn't seem to give a care about anyone. My counselor (will not name drop out of respect...because I have that towards other people) kept using a vulgar word that referrs to mentally challenged people. Me being a mom of a child with disabilities kindly asked her to not use that word because I find it offensive. Rather than changing her behavior, she continued more and more to use that word. She had pretty much said that I'm an addict and have no say in anything that involves respect towards me because I don't deserve it. In all honesty I couldn't even take my last week there due to feeling completely disrespected at that point. This on top of countless other instances makes me want to give this prison (basically what it is) negative stars. I had more success helping myself than that place had getting paid to help me.
