Several accounts that describe the same thing tell you more than a single strong opinion.
This recovery center presents itself as a place of support, but my experience showed a very different reality. The environment felt more like a business than a compassionate, client‑centered program. When someone is… seeking help, especially during vulnerable moments, the last thing they need is to feel dismissed or unsupported. Staff members often seemed more focused on policies and procedures than on people. Instead of offering genuine care, encouragement, or individualized guidance, interactions frequently felt cold and transactional. There was little sense of community or connection, which is especially concerning in a place meant to help individuals rebuild their lives. I also witnessed situations where people were given minimal resources or generic referrals instead of meaningful assistance. For a center that promotes itself as a place of healing and transformation, the lack of practical support was disappointing. Recovery requires empathy, consistency, and a willingness to show up for people. Unfortunately, this facility did not demonstrate those qualities. I hope they reevaluate their approach and begin prioritizing the human side of recovery, because right now, the support offered does not match the promises they advertise. The main problem is the manger! Just FYI...
The Joliet Symetria location saved my life!! What a great bunch of people!! They work with you, and guide you through everything!! Heck Tonette even got me an Uber one time because my car was broke down and I was going… to miss my dosing. I know I have heard good and bad about Symetria but this location (Joliet) goes out of their way to make sure patients and good. I love them so much (NO JOKE THESE PEOPLE AT SYMETRIA (Joliet) are amazing. Thank you Tonette, Zoe, Erin, Maria & Debra, Elsa & Kim. You ladies are the light of my life. I love you all!!!
This place has been a blessing in my life and they have helped me overcome my problems. Maria and Elsa are the best!
This place is major help for anyone needing any treatment they need. The people that work here are like family and wait times are extremely short. Do be careful with some of the outside nurses that dont work for this… location, they can be quiet judgemental. 5 Star none the less.
Thanks to the incompetence of T, this place has the stability of a folding chair on an ice rink being held together by duct tape and wishful thinking. If that’s who’s running things, no wonder everything feels one bad… day away from collapsing. people skills = zero. eye contact = awkward and avoidant. management style = Only if staring at cameras and obsessing over lunch counts. She sits at that desk like she’s ruling a kingdom, except the only thing she’s in charge of is confusion. The real question is who hired her — because that decision alone deserves its own performance review. Putting someone this unqualified in a recovery clinic is like handing car keys to someone who can’t reach the pedals. Yes, Symetria has a few solid staff members, but the rest are scattered, disconnected, and nowhere near the same page. What should be a stable, supportive center feels more like a group project where half the team didn’t bother to show up. People come here for stability, not chaos. And if this is the bar for leadership, no wonder the clients are the only ones doing the real work.
What a decline this place has seen since the change in management. Within minutes of walking in seeking help, I was backed into a corner with questions like, “So you have all these resources around you, and chose us… why?” Instead of compassion, I was met with accusations — including being told I had previously “thrown a fit and slammed doors.” That’s a complete misrepresentation of my character and clearly a mix‑up with another patient. This business once treated people like family, or at least convincingly acted as if they cared. I remember a time when staff rallied around me to help with something as simple as a dead car battery. That sense of support is gone. Now, the atmosphere feels like a run‑down methadone clinic, no different from the rest of Joliet. The decline is obvious: staff turnover is high, they can’t keep a doctor or nurse practitioner consistently on site, and the culture has shifted from supportive to confrontational. Patients deserve better than being interrogated or defamed when they come here for recovery. Avoid this business. Take your trust and your health elsewhere. Recovery requires compassion, professionalism, and stability — none of which are present here anymore. [Zoe & Elsa are wonderful though!]
When I came to Symetria I was fairly depressed about my abuse of alcohol. I knew it wasn’t who I truly was and I needed the help to recognize positive ways to help me identify what I was doing that put me into a… downward cycle of binge drinking. Through the Intensive Outpatient program coupled with Individual counseling and attending SMART meetings I discovered a clear path to follow to stop what I was doing and move forward in life without alcohol. I’m proud to say I’m coming up on 4 months completely alcohol free and it feels amazing! The staff at Symetria absolutely cares about each individual’s success and they put the person first. Not once did I feel like I was being judged or categorized. If you need help Symetria is the place to go! Respectfully, Dan M
I am so thankful for this clinic and especially the workers (Jessica , Elsa , Erin and Maria) I want to thank you guys for all the hard work you guys do, also for always being nice , comforting and supportive. Also I… cannot forget the front desk I also want to Thank Debra and Zoeyyyy for always calling me checking up on me and making sure I have a ride to my appointment. Would I refer the clinic to friends or family , I would recommend them 10/10
This can be a Great place if you have insurance and if they cared or acted like the nurse Elsa.👌she is a wonderful nurse/medical provider and let's be honest, the good nurses do all the work, but she has a personality… to match it, very caring thoughtful, understanding and helpful just an amazing person and Maria is also a decent counselor here. However, the head medical director and front desk along with the people that run this location seem to have a high turnover of "employees" who don't communicate properly or lie to you and they are very money driven/oriented and run it more like a business than a medical facility, meaning money comes before your health & care. They don't care They'll leave you on a drop of a penny defecating your pants wondering, what just happened? They should accept more insurances or let people that can pay payments get their full dose of medication but what do I know 🤷♂️ It's been better than the government places that use that liquid death but sure is a shame they don't care or build a relationship for you, even after 5 years of being a kind hearted, rule following, hoop jumping patient for them. 😟
The Staff at Symetria Recovery ( Deborah, Anna , Maria, Elsa , etc..) all treat their patients like family. They are all so Caring, Loving and Supportive. That makes the road to recovery that much easier. I would… recommend this place to anyone and everyone thats struggling with any kind of substance abuse. A. Short
Wonderful counselors and they are easy to talk to.

The staff is the most genuine people & they truly care for there patients, with out these people I wouldn’t be where I’m at today, THANKYOU FOR SAVING ME🥲❤️ shout out to the best counselor Maria, and the friendliest… receptionist Zoe
The people are amazing and they all are involved in your recovery! The nurse, Elsa, is the best. She is so knowledgeable and an amazing ally to help you through your recovery. I have tried many clinics but I believe… they helped me get sober and stay sober!
All of the staff has been very patient and understanding with my son. It took me over a year trying find a place that fit my son’s needs and personality. He has difficulties trusting and opening up to people about his… life and addiction. The receptionist Debra Green always greets us like family. Debra answers any of my questions that she is able to answer; if not will direct to the right person for an answer. I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for professionals who understand and won’t judge you even on your darkest days.
I would like to take this time to acknowledge the great job that the people at Symetria Recovery has done for and in my life. Thank you to my counselor Marie K Debra G Liz L and Nurse Anna L. God bless all of you.
I am writing this review for Debra at the Joliet office. She has a pleasant personality. She dresses in a business like manner. She has been very helpful with every question that I have asked. She seems very… knowledgeable. I believe that she is a great asset for Symetria. Dale Airola
I decided to come to Symetria to get myself a little help in my life. The first day I came here everyone made me feel welcome and excited for treatment. Yes I said excited 😊. Debra at the front desk seems more like a… friend than a staff member in this journey. When I call she answers the phone and I immediately smile. She knows who I am right away. The entire staff is here for you. You never have to feel like your bothering them with questions or concerns. I am so thankful for Sarita my counselor. The nurses laugh with me and I know would cry with me too they are 😇
Outpatient is great and everyone here is amazing ,super nice, supportive and helpful. Debra the receptionist is one of my favorites she’s extremely kind and always helps good if you have any questions or are confused… about anything. The nurses are also great too same with the counselors
Great place to courtesy dose
This place is extremely welcoming and the process of becoming a paitent is painless. There doctor's and front receptionist Debra is so supportive and compassionate. If your looking for support on getting off opioids or… other drugs they are there for you every step of the way. They have a nice waiting room that comfortable and welcoming. The staff treat you more then just a paitent thats a number on a chart, they are compassionate and will talk to you judgment free.
This facility is very helpful to people in need. Debra was extremely friendly and nice when checking in on my brother. Sarita was his counselor and really worked to get my brother through tough situations.
I love coming here to see Debra's bright smiling face . It's nice to have that positivity first thing in the morning. I always feel comfortable coming here.
Debra Greene is amazing she’s so polite amazing and professional she will go above and beyond to help you with whatever she is ask to do if she dose t know the answer she will find the answer to solve your problem !!!… Keep up the great job!!!!
