I am extremely disappointed with my experience with DART West. This program is supposed to help people who are struggling with their mental health, but trying to actually receive consistent help has been frustrating,… discouraging, and exhausting. I was given an appointment for 9:00 AM and arrived early, around 8:40. I sat there waiting until approximately 10:20, and the therapist never came out to see me. I eventually left after wasting nearly two hours waiting for an appointment that THEY scheduled. Communication since then has not been much better. I have tried to be proactive about getting an appointment and receiving help, but instead I feel like I’m constantly being given the runaround. I’ve been told things like they’ll “let me know” when they’re available rather than actually being given an appointment or a clear plan for continuing treatment. When someone is already struggling, they should not have to continuously chase down the people who are supposed to be providing their care. One of the most concerning things is that I was never given clear information about who I’m supposed to contact when I’m having a mental health crisis. You would think that would be one of the FIRST things explained when entering an FSP program. I should not have to search around on my own trying to figure out where to turn when I need help. I understand that mental health workers are busy and programs can be understaffed. I don’t expect anyone to be available to me 24/7 or to drop everything for me. What I do expect is basic communication, appointments to be respected, and clear instructions about how to access support when I’m struggling. What makes this especially sad is that programs like DART West are the only realistic option for many people. When someone is actively trying to get help, repeatedly reaching out and showing up, the system should not make accessing that help another exhausting battle. People seeking mental health treatment are already carrying enough. They shouldn’t have to fight this hard just to get someone to consistently show up and provide the services they’re supposed to receive.
I had a friend stay there she would tell me that the counselors would share personal information about others to her like rape victims and women who were abused they would laugh while taking about it and even said about… the rape victim that maybe they deserved it because she was high on drugs I don’t care drugs or not nobody deserves that and the counselors should not be sharing other peoples experiences to anyone she was afraid of them she said the way they are they will make trouble for you so she didn’t go against them when she told me this I helped her get out she is now in a safe place
One of the most horrible experience ever. Literally, dysfunctional incompetent therapists! I went there for help, to discuss my problems and after a while she literally started discussing her problems. And from what I… learned, she doesn't even have her life and family in check. Like, who's helping who at this point!
If you care about your health or your family members please run as fast as you can from this place. We had the worst experience to date. From the Dr, to the case manager, to the nurses, and support staff. Dr refused to… provide the proper information to Medi Cal to allow my brother to receive his proper psych meds. She was insensitive and lacked fellow empathy for the population she’s supposed to be caring for. (the biggest hoax in the equation) Nursing staff was rude and inexperienced clearly lacking the skills and knowledge to obtain employment in a more viable setting. Case managers have high turnover rates and lack proper training. It’s pretty pathetic such an incompetent institution is allowed to operate and claim to care for people in our community in dire circumstances. If for any reason you are referred here immediately ask for assistance finding a more humane system for treatment. Stay safe and Good Health to all!
These people are the only ones I turley believe that can properly help me and I'm very SMI but wasn't able to go that extra mile and help me because of other clients and probably policy's. But they are recommended by me… for anyone who seeks real professional help..
