UPMC Western Maryland – Cumberland Detox and Rehab Services

UPMC Western Maryland – Cumberland carries a listing for intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. A proper assessment sets the level rather than leaving it to guesswork, and it is worth asking for one explicitly.

Combined treatment is not recorded, which is worth checking before committing. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

UPMC Western Maryland – Cumberland Address, Location and Contact Information

You will find this provider at 12502 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland, Maryland, 21502. This address falls in Allegany County. People travel in from the surrounding area, and confirming the route beforehand saves difficulty. Public transport, parking and the length of the journey all affect whether someone completes a course of treatment, and they are worth settling before the first appointment rather than after.

A quick call before you go will settle directions, parking and what to expect first time. Remote appointments may be possible where travel is a barrier. Where no one answers, leaving a message and calling again later usually works better than giving up.

I went to the ER on Tuesday and the staff were amazing. The security guards, secretary, Dr. Robbins and Dr. Shafiei, RN McKenna and RN Sam, transport, and techs were all professional and kind. They listened to me, kept… me informed of what was going on, shared some laughs, and helped me go from 7/10 pain to 0. I hope to never need to go back to the ER ever but if I do, I'd be happy to return here.

i was thinking about moving to this area but after reading the reviews about this hospital i would rather be in an area where the hospital is a good one and has better reviews....after all we will all have to use a… hospital at one time or another

So here I am in the cardiac unit at UPMC expecting to have open heart surgery today THAT WAS NEVER SCHEDULED. None of the nurses over the past three days didn't know it wasn't scheduled for today. I was prepped. I… stopped eating after midnight. Found out around 6:30 this morning it was never scheduled and the Lana person who supposedly talked to me for 75 minutes, I have zero idea of who that even is. So a big one star from me. The cardiac nurses have been wonderful. But whoever Lana is, she gets a big zero.

I'm extremely disappointed by the way my sons concern was handled when he called UPMC last night regarding a possible rabies exposure. He called because he was genuinely scared and unsure whether he needed to go to the… hospital. Instead of receiving reassurance, guidance, or even basic compassion, the women on the phone responded, "That's a terrible way to go out". Her comment was completely inappropriate and deeply upsetting, especially given the seriousness of the concern and the fact that he was already very anxious. When someone calls the hospital with a potentially serious health concern, they should be met with professionalism, empathy and helpful information. I hope UPMC takes this complaint seriously and provides additional training on how staff should communicate with patients who are scared or uncertain about a potentially dangerous exposure.

An abusive hospital, who doesn’t care about their patients who have brain bleeding a broken spine and multiple neck fractures. They told me I had bleeding of the brain that my spine was broken and my neck had multiple… fractures. I was scared and asked for medicine and asked for someone to calm me down a Hispanic woman with brown hair, came and threatened me cussed me out told me to sit down. They basically told me I was going to die and then kicked me out of the hospital. They are a bunch of sadist evil people and they’re also stupid. they got Got my chart mixed up with somebody else else’s waited eight hours. Avoid this hospital at all cost. No wonder more people die from misdiagnosis and cancer than anywhere else in the state of Maryland. Shame on this hospital. I’m gonna file a lawsuit. I have a lawyer on retainer I’m calling prosecutions office to file charges against this woman She kicked me out of the hospital because I had questions over my diagnosis and she told me she didn’t care if I walked out of the hospital and died on the road I had on my brain and a broken spine from a car accident. She told me that she hope I died driving back on my way home. And her security guard escort, my pregnant wife, who is pregnant with twins off the property, very abusive staff who hate their job and they want their patience to die

Had my 13 y/o transported to this facility staff person in room the whole time never said one word to me or my child not once asked me if I wanted a drink or anything she sorta sat there like a bump on a log. Time for… discharge here they lost her clothes. Here to find out her clothes where given to someone else. You do not take a patient's personal belongings and put them in a paper bag and put them in a locker that any Tom, Dick or Harry can have access to personal belongings. Most hospitals let you hold on to their belongings not this place. I will never go back to this facility ever again. This is the Emergency Department

Excellent service from all the medical staff and nurses. Despite not knowing the language, all the staff communicated with me through an online translator, making the service easier and more efficient.

I dreaded having to go to the emergency room, but it was wonderful! Even on a Saturday afternoon. Everyone was kind and helpful - from the ladies who checked me in to the nurses and the doctor. One of the ladies who… checked me in even came out as I was leaving to go home and asked me how I was doing and if the doctor had figured out what was wrong. I really didn't expect that they would have a doctor on staff as I have been in emergency rooms that only have PAs, but they had 3 doctors seeing to emergency room patients. The doctor even picked up on something that one of my specialists hadn't. If you can get Dr. Bingaman, do so. I was really impressed.

I haven't ever heard anything good about this hospital but I must disagree. I recently broke my hip and that's where my journey began. From the time EMS in Frostburg arrived I received great care. Yes once I arrived at… the hospital things slowed down and I spent my first night in the ER on one of those beds in the hallway. It's not their fault they were so busy. Everyone in the ER were Great. Then I was moved to the 5th floor in an observation room and once again everyone was great. So I wanted to make sure that people know everything that I heard about this hospital was completely wrong. So I wanted to tell each and every person that I dealt with from the EMS personnel to the doctor's, Nurse's and CNA'S they were great and I had a splendid stay.

BEWARE. I travelled to Cumberland, MD and was overcome with flu-like symptoms. Since I was 6 hours from home, I was hoping to start tamiflu to make things as easy on me as possible. When searching for an 'urgent care'… facility, UPMC came up as the top option in the Cumberland area. That's the issue though - they look like an urgent care facility, they are similar to every other urgent care facility I've been in.....BUT they'll submit charges to your insurance as a 'hospital.' That allows them to charge $521.26 for 45 min of your time and complete an influenza and C19 test. Since they bill as a 'hospital,' most insurance policies don't cover as much (I have $35 copays at normal urgent care facilities) and you are on the hook for $372.80 AFTER your copay and insurance contribution. All because they bill as a hospital, even though they are obviously an urgent care facility...with no patient rooms found inside their facility which is located inside of a shopping center. Wish I could rate as no stars. Very deceptive...but at least they are making their money.

I genuinely have never felt like I was going to die before I came here. I came for throwing up blood, sat and waited for 10 hours, and was sent home with no conclusion. Had a panic attack and staff were extremely rude.

I was seen by Dr. Syed Pasha, MD in Gastro. He was absolutely fantastic. He was knowledgeable and listened to me. I felt in no way dismissed. I have had a very negative experience with UMPC Pulmonology and was not… looking forward to this appointment. He didn’t care that I recorded our conversation as he recorded it as well for their system and his notes. I’m grateful I took the chance and came back to UMPC. He referred me to a more specialized Gasto specialist to help figure out a plan for my issues, as well as scheduled a follow up to see me again personally to check my progress. He also made referral to another specialist that would be able to talk through surgical opinions since I may have to wait a while for the gastro specialist as there is only one in MD that could help me. He made me feel seen after experiencing dismissal from past providers while feeling so unwell. Dr. Syed Pasha seems to genuinely care about his patients well being.

Absolute worst experience of my life. I have never sat in an emergency room waiting room for 4 hours before, before I came to this hospital. And the lady working the registration desk was rude when told that an elderly… gentleman could not breathe. Also the waiting room is filthy. 10/10 would NOT recommend.

Dr. Andrea J. Chamczuk has the worst bed side manner I’ve ever seen. Very sarcastic, offensive when questioned and lack of knowledge of the patient’s needs for pain treatment. Records needed for further treatment were… not sent and the follow up doctors could not believe what took place. There was no follow up from the doctor after discharge. Not surprised at all. My brother has endured a great deal of financial burden for repeated treatment. A letter was sent that stated they found sufficient care was given and sorry we felt that way. Just a cover up from upper management. We have documented detailed events that took place to prove these statements. I can only pray that other patients don’t have to go through this same experience. She should not be in the medical profession. I will be looking into this further. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED

Probably the worst experience I have ever witnessed. Under educated, under staffed, I now have seen first handed what people are talking about with this entire health system. I will drive to Morgantown or Winchester… before I ever step back into this hospital. Unbelievable ! It will not be necessary for any response to this post, you said all you needed to say in my visit. Again unbelievable.

disgusted wirh the care even the acknowledgement of the over night receptionist. To leave a lady sitting in the lobby for several hours. N she was asking for help for over 20 mins. Because she had to go to the bathroom… n was ignored n given attitude when other people tried to approach them.in regards where she add a accident in the lobby around now it put e trying in the air of feces n shes embarrassed. But the staff got mad about it . No wonder keyser is so much better they actually care and pay attention. You need to train your staff. Better hospitality and bedside manner. Your side conversations about dogs can wait. Put patients first

I would give negative stars if I could. So my dad was admitted to this so called “hospital” and needed an MRI. They are not doing it because he has a VNS for his seizures that needs to be turned off first. Well, no… doctor or member of the medical staff knows how to do this simple task, that techs can do at any other hospital. So the lack of results from not obtaining an MRI is affecting his diagnosis and treatment. They said he would need to be transferred to Winchester just to get the MRI. This is a LAWSUIT waiting to happen. This has been an on going issue before and of course they never trained any one. This place is so extremely incompetent, but everyone knows that! I’m seriously considering taking legal action and hopefully maybe then they will learn and grow. Worst “hospital” ever, if you can even call it that.

Two weeks ago on a Friday I was taken to the ER by my husband in the back of my suburban. I could not sit or stand without being in horrible pain from my back and sciatic pain in my left leg. When we got there they… bought a bed out to the car to get me out to take me inside! Very little wait and they took me right back to a room! Dr Shafiei was the provider on duty when I went in. He was so caring and listen to everything going on with me. I had already had an MRI days before and so he checked my reports from that and talked to me about what was likely what I was going to need. There was a neurosurgeon that came to talk to me about surgery and unfortunately her reviews as well as anything I could find on her was not making me feel comfortable with her during my surgery. So I came home to reach out to other neurosurgeons to see where I could go and who I could see about surgery that I felt was more qualified. The nurses and Dr Shafiei were wonderful, and I would have stayed and had surgery if I felt more comfortable about the neurosurgeon. Overall the care was amazing! I just was not comfortable with a doctor that doesn’t stand out as absolutely amazing and she was super nice, I just felt that I should have someone that has done more surgeries and had a lot more reviews from patients If she was a really great doctor. You can only go by the information that you can find and no offense to her, she just didn’t stand out to me.

My best advice would be to go to another hospital. You don't want to be here. If you get worse (likely) you'll have a hard time getting transferred and may end up at another UPMC. Low standards for behavior and skills… and if you say anything they turn things around to make it look like you're the problem.

That place has absolutely gone downhill... 100 percent. Was there 3 plus hours... mind you my condition is not life threatening so I was trying to be mindful of how busy they were. They placed me in the back which I… laid there for hours not a single person came in except to tell me they were moving me up front. Then they put me up front in a psych room!! AGAIN!. Was completely ignored again. I totally understand how busy it gets but not one nurse, doctor, cna walked in to check on me or let me know what's going on. I'm heading to potomac Valley now because they do not mess around and stay on top of things. I have an infected cyst... sorry for the tmi. But my Tylenol was beginning to wear off after waiting that long. Guys.. DON'T GO THERE... IT'S BAD REALLY BAD. Never again

All they do is just sit around and you wait for 2 hours in the emergency department, then you finally get someone who takes an additional 2 hours for a simple shot you’re better off driving to a urgent care instead of… here.

I have been to the ER with my husband and had long wait like other commenters. In addition, his medical records have been mixed with another patient’s, we have been billed for services not received, other patients… results left on our answering machine, lab neglected to draw tubes for all ordered tests, ….I have been to UPMC in Pittsburgh for specialty care, which was excellent, but here things are only worse. Seriously considering going to WVU for his care now
