If you are comparing treatment programs in Havre de Grace, the reviews of Upper Bay Counseling and Support Servs in this section are worth a few minutes. If you have already been a patient there, your review is worth a few minutes to someone else.
Haven't updated their information with insurance companies. I'm receiving referrals to their office and they do not accept the insurance. Complete waste of time and days of processing.
My review was hidden. This place is quite possibly one of the worse facilities I have ever been to. Staff is ancient, and runs off of a play book from 1970s due to their only prescriber being 300 years old.
So, if you pay cash, they'll see you. If you want you use insurance, nahhh.
Last therapist, who was the head one, insulted, screamed at me, and told me I would be just like my mentally ill family before she retired. Corporate I think was not managing things right since the pandemic so she… redirected her nastiness on me - and then she retired. Had to hide things from her since I couldn't trust her. Then my mental health collapsed after half a year of disasters from this place. Was good in 2019 and prior, now is probably worse than no therapy.
Dr. Scoville has been taking care of me for years. He's a great experienced doctor. My therapist Susan is without question the best I've ever met. I plan to go very far & achieve so much w her!
would give ZERO stars if i could. i’ve been attending upper bay since i was 14, i am now almost 20. i have switched therapists 4 times in my time of being here because they all leave to go to other practices. why are so… many therapists leaving? as soon as i would get comfortable with someone - they would switch me. my last therapist would never return my calls. i called her 2 times a week for 3 months with no response. finally i reached out to ROBERT WILSON who is a joke. he first couldn’t find my information in his system - then when he finally did HE NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. I HAD TO CALL HIM A WHOLE WEEK LATER. he claimed i never reached out to my therapist and that it was my fault? however, i have an MMCC and NEED to see a therapist in order to renew my card so i TRIED to keep in touch but never heard an answer from said therapist. If i had business practices like this, i wouldn’t have any customers. that’s why their patients HATE it here and told me to stay away before i even started. if you guys need serious help i recommend staying away from upper bay. they do not care about you or how you’re feeling.
I started going to Upper Bay a few years ago and I recommend for people to stay away from here. They have proven to be incredibly unreliable on actually showing up to appointments and responding to patients, and they… have an issue with confidentiality. The first year I started going there to help with my anxiety I had a great therapist and I can say that year was one of the best years of my life. I started feeling really great mentally and she was a great help. There was one issue I had during this time, and it was the lack of patient confidentiality. Since I'm still in high school and get taken out of class to go to meetings, my therapist has to sign a pass so I can go back to class afterwards. The pass says that it's from Upper Bay therapy. I've had multiple teachers talk to me about the fact I go to therapy who weren't supposed to know without me personally telling them. This wasn't an issue with my therapist, it's an issue with Upper Bay itself for the passes they provided her. A month before Covid happened, my therapist stopped calling me for our weekly meetings. It was odd, but I figured she might've just been busy with other patients and waited. After schools closed we never set up another meeting (I never reached out, so that part was my fault) and my case got closed. In September during the beginning of the school year, my Mom called Upper Bay asking for an intake so I could get back into therapy. They gave us a day to come for it and when we got there they told us that the psychiatrist that handled intakes was on a vacation that week and they weren't doing them that day. We ended up having to reschedule the intake two more times after that and finally got one. The woman that did the intake was really nice, and she even tried to get me back with my old therapist. I don't think she worked there anymore so it didn't work, but it was a nice gesture. We were told we'd get a call to set up my first therapy appointment in one or two weeks. Three weeks later we called back because no one contacted us and they told us that they would fix it. The next day we got a call from the person who was supposed to be my new therapist and we set up a time for the meeting. That day, I gave her my email and got no response. Half an hour later I emailed again asking if we were still having a meeting and got no answer. My mom messaged her and provided her my email in case she didn't see it, but we still got no response. We called and texted her a few times after that and eventually my Mom called the manager after two more weeks of no response from her. The manager said that they would talk to my therapist and make sure she would get back to us and after that we still weren't contacted by anyone. We kept messaging my therapist multiple times over the next few months and still had no response. When we called Upper Bay itself we stopped getting an answer. At that point, it had been 9 months since I was supposed to start seeing my therapist and we'd given up on getting a call and tried to find somewhere else. Unfortunately, when we tried every other counseling service in my area they either didn't answer or didn't accept children. That wasn't the fault of Upper Bay, but it has made me wish they would've just gotten back to me so getting a therapist wouldn't be such a hassle. I've been without a therapist for almost two years and my mental health has been getting much worse since then. This morning, we got a letter saying they closed my case because we haven't had an appointment, claiming we'd never answered them when they contacted us. My mom checked her calling history and saw that they never called back or even left a voicemail. The only emails between me and my therapist were from when I was trying to contact her last year. In other words, they never tried to contact us. When I actually had a therapist, she was amazing and their services really helped. If I left a review back then, I would've given this place five stars. The main problem I have with them is how much of a struggle it is to actually start getting help from them.
This place is a crock do not come here they closed my case then said they no longer can take me cause they can't accept medicare I understand that but don't make excuses the Drs don't listen at all and the therapists… keep changing
Dr. Aamir was my psychiatrist when she was at Union Memorial. I am currently having problems and I wanted to talk with her about my medications -- that she originally prescribed. The receptionist refused to make an… appointment unless I first enrolled in their counseling program. This is a very poor way to practice medicine. They just want my money. I would not recommend using their services.
Great therapist and psychiatrist!
i went to a therapist there named mike and he is amazing. he was very helping and made me feel confident. he made me feel safe and he was an amazing and wonderful human. if i could see him still i would be so happy but… i cant anymore. if you are looking for a good person to go to and are not sure who to see please go to mike. you will not regret it at all!
The staff really care and they don't try to control everything you do they work with you instead of trying to force you into being someone you aren't.They are very accepting of diversity and differences of culture. They… are well equipped to handle many types of mental illness and psychiatric injuries like PTSD and dissociative disorders.
