Greeting is big to me. When nurses walk in to the riom they didint say hello. They were very informative however more hospitality could be nice. It's also very cold in here. Overall im glad for their work. My child… returned to me very happy he attended here. Thanks for your hard work, to all staff.

I was unfortunately a patient here about 10 years ago. My first visit here was for 10 days When I first showed up, I thought I would get help. I obviously didn't because I was later send to another facility not long… after. But this place is basically high school,(speaking of school, the school work yall gice us, even tho ones that were 9th and 10th grade at both times i went, its grade school work. We dont learn anything but stuff we already knew) with build in therapist that do not go in depth. ALSO while I there, there a teenage trans girl (maybe 13-15) there (identifying as female while having a punishment and testicles) and they allowed him to sleep on the female side, and bunker with a 10 YEARD OLD!!! Who is later heard from multiple other girls, including the poor victim herself, that he was able to violate her with his hand against her will. I was there for 10 days I never once seen a police officer nor was any girls every questioned about the incident. But she did report it to the staff, her rape went UNREPORTED IN A MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF YOIR STAFF!!!! AND YOU ALLOWED A MAN TO SLEEP IN A GIRLS ROOM!!! THERE ARE SEPERATE SIDES FOR A REASON!!!!

My daughter was recently admitted to Valley because of a suicide attempt. During the intake process we were told that we could come get our daughter at any time. My daughter was in the facility for 5 days. The facility… did not do anything for her in that time. She felt worse than she did when she was admitted. The therapist that was assigned to my daughter set up an over the phone appointment with us as a family therapy session. The day came for the appointment and we didn't receive a call at or even close to the set time. We called and left a message. She still didn't call. We finally got ahold of the Therapist and she she forgot. My daughter said she had only talked to the therapist 1 time while she was there. But the therapist told us she had talked to my daughter a couple times. Then in the very next sentence she claimed to have talked to my daughter several times. When I confronted her about it, she quickly tried to change the subject. I told the therapist that it was obvious that my daughter wasn't getting the help she needed and that we would be picking her up later that day. She said ok then cut the meeting short. We picked my daughter up that day which was day 5. Our insurance only approved my daughter to stay for 5 days so we really weren't picking her up early. The facility contacted DHS stating that we pulled our child early from the program against their recommendations. So then we had DHS and The local police show up at our door. As if our family wasn't dealing with enough. Of course it was a open and shut case because there were no signs of abuse or neglect. The facility had also pulled my daughter out of her online school. We had to get her registered again to get her back on the roster so that she could continue her education. The facility told us at intake they needed to contact the school to let them know our daughter was in their care. This would excuse her from the days she had missed. Instead , she was pulled from the school. This also happened on the 5th day. Valley Behavioral Health is an absolute waste of a perfectly good building. Reading alot of the other reviews, there seems to be a trend of creating more issues than they are fixing. This is a Toxic facility that is more interested in collecting the insurance money than they are helping people. I wish I could give a negative star review but unfortunately I have to give at least 1 star to even write this review. If you are an adult seeking help for yourself. I strongly urge you to find a better facility. And If you are seeking help for your child, Please, Please dont make the mistake we did. There are much better facilities that truly want to help your child. Closer does not mean better. I hope and pray that you find the help you need for yourself or for your child. BUT THIS IS NOT THE PLACE.!!!!

The nursing staff is fabulous. I wish I could leave 5 stars. Billing is terrible. I was told that my insurance would pay $890 and that needed paid before treatment. Months later they sent a bill of almost $2000. I… called to see what was going on with that. They said that the $890 was just an estimate and that I owed the remaining balance. I made a payment agreement for a direct payments out of my banking account for the 1st of every month, because that is our payday. No payments were missed. They still sent it to Frost-Arnett creditors even though they made the payment agreement! I paid off the remaining balance and almost a month later the creditors are still calling and mailing collection notices! 1 week of care costing out of pocket with good insurance is still almost $3000! My granddaughter said they kept her drugged the whole time and doesn't remember much except for having to eat with her hands and that floor was more comfortable than the mattress.

They always forget clothes or add ones you didn't bring your child with. First time my child went there he fell going to the bathroom and two of his front teeth were barely hanging and it was still attached to his gums… so he was bleeding pretty bad had to go er. They are the worst place to go to I wish they would honestly have another place in fort smith.

Friends kid was here for psychotic tendencies like beating their animals when mad, and trying to light himself and the house on fire with lighter fluid everywhere because he was bored. He snuck a lighter in his pocket… before being admitted, they never checked him and tried to light himself on fire in the facility, they think he's ok to leave after two days

I thought to leave a review, I was there years ago. Maybe like 2? But I'll let you know it was the worst. They let kids get into a LOT of fights, I was in the unit and these two guy were sitting up a fight, I went to… grab paper from the nurse station, and they just started going at it. They were hitting each other and I was standing in the middle, getting hit too. It took them an hour to ever check on me, I had a concussion while the other guys just had VERY small bruises, (very faint ones), I almost died. if you really care about your kid and want the best for them, keep them FAR from this place. (They give you a bunch of bs meds too that you do not need)

ummm.. im sure they deleted my review. i was sent here on my 11th birthday, 2024, for suicidal ideation and self harm, only to be treated worse, staff members will push your boundaries. theyre psychically, sexually, and… verbally abusive, im calling out ms amber, ms savannah and mr jacob. i hope these people never have a chance to work in healthcare again, especially with kids. ms savanna put me in a seclusion room because i said i felt like i was being touched in my sleep by another staff member i cannot remember of. ms rhi stole my things from storage, they were little pusheen stickers ive had, i noticed because the 2nd time i got back, i saw my stickers on her water bottle. and found them in the staffs personal desk. its immature and so dumb how these grown adults are working in children healthcare and they just steal their things!! my mum bought me this and it just gets stolen.. sure its just stickers but they meant alot to me the 2nd time i was here, they discharged me saying they would test me for the flu, never did and just basically had me pack my things and leave. i was running 106. the food is horrible, the cleanliness is awful and the behavior is disgusting and inhumane. please stop treating the little kids and adults in here like garbage! these people need help and all you care about is getting your paycheck. id be more than happy to file a lawsuit. so much more has happened that what i just wrote down.

Horrible place. I went around the beginning of the year at 2 am and got to the back at 5 am. Two hours later I was woken up for blood and another hour later I was woken up to get out of bed. When I refused due to the… less than 3 hours of sleep the staff member, Brian, mumbled about how annoying and how much of an inconvenience it was as he walked away. When I had finally gotten some sleep and left my room he refused to help me and kept pushing me off to other staff. Eventually he stopped acknowledging me at all. At one point he accused the patients of stealing his vape, searched us, and refused to let us go outside when he had previously told us he would. He had apparently left it in his car the whole time (which is where it’s supposed to be) and when he realized he still refused to let us go outside or even apologize. The staff had to move me to another unit because I was refusing to come out of my room due to his hostility.

I wanted to share my experience here as there are a lot of negative reviews. I was here for a week and I actually enjoyed it here. The nurses are really nice and the food is great. I would make a few changes though.… Like better bedding and more blankets. Otherwise, I was treated wirh respect and fairness and learned a lot. Thank you for all the help!

Been here on like September 15. This was not a pleasant experience. Sure I met new kids and all that but the food was horrible, the staff didn't really care besides some people like the tall black haired guy. I forgot… my name and he was kind and respectful. Then their was this woman who would come into our unit every once in a while to do an activity. I had a mental breakdown on my 2nd day and she came and helped me figure and sort things out. Same with the teachers and this one guy who was online there during nighttime shifts. The experience was genuinely not good to average at most. The environment wasn't comfortable and it was just mild. However, the only guy that was at daytime shifts that I could actually see was a top tier dude. He was nice, he responded to situations quickly. When a fight broke out. He would literally jump over the desk just to get to it. It was such a weird experience that I remember mostly everything. I think it needs a renovation though. I sure did make some good memories in the magnolia unit.

Was looking for a place to refer somebody to for mental health services, however after reading all of the negative reviews (1.9) I don’t believe I would recommend anybody to this place. When this many people complain… about the same issue and abuse, it’s serious problem. The office a long-term care will be contacted and department of health needs to look into this.. it’s not just one or two reviews. It’s every review about this place when this place was Harborview years ago it was a great place to count on for mental health services.

Years ago, I was sent to this facility after calling a suicide hotline. I wasn’t sure if I was suicidal — I just knew I was in a dark place, deeply depressed, and needed someone to talk to. I will never do that again.… What followed was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. They lied to me about what would happen and had me taken to a hospital, where things quickly spiraled. I was locked in a room, unable to contact my friends or family, and my phone was taken away. In the middle of the night — around 12:30 AM — I was transferred against my will to this facility about 45 minutes from my home. I wasn’t allowed to call work or even tell my family what was happening. When I arrived, I was processed immediately. They kept trying to take my blood even though I repeatedly explained that I have a severe fear of needles. They continued poking me until I broke down crying, and only then did they stop. I was then put in a room with a thin mattress, barely any bedding, and limited toiletries. It felt more like a jail than a place for healing. The staff were rude, the doctors dismissive and dishonest. They didn’t listen, didn’t care, and didn’t treat patients with compassion or respect. I witnessed teenagers there who were forced to stay by their parents — they were miserable and terrified. The food was nearly inedible, and the overall environment was bleak and dehumanizing. It’s been years since that experience, and while my life has improved dramatically, I still have flashbacks of that place — especially the blonde doctor who refused to let me leave. I’ve never sought therapy or professional mental health support again because of what happened there. This facility destroyed my trust in the mental health system. This place needs to be investigated. It does not feel like a mental health facility; it feels like a prison. I left there in worse shape than when I arrived. No one seeking help should ever be treated the way I was.

I absolutely hated it there, most of the staff just ignore you and they do nothing to help. The first few days I was there I didn't eat anything at all and didn't care to make my daily phone call, (they only give you… like 7 minutes to talk anyway.) I feel like they should sort which unit, or whatever it's called, based on behavior instead of age.

I am writing to formally document serious concerns regarding my recent inpatient stay at Valley Behavioral Health following a medical crisis caused by adverse drug interactions. While I am grateful for the detox… process, my overall experience reflects a need for urgent audit and reform. I was admitted in neurological distress due to complex conditions including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, POTS, gastroparesis, and autism. I was immediately placed on an ankle monitor, given an antipsychotic that worsened my condition, and issued inaccurate discharge papers, including a false diagnosis of dementia. None of my five existing specialists were included in discharge planning despite multiple requests. As an autistic patient, I was not provided with learning accommodations or accessible communication tools—a violation of basic disability rights. I had to train staff in trauma-informed care during a meltdown. I was allowed only two phone calls in several days, despite needing contact with my husband and doctors. The facility was critically understaffed, with one tech for the unit over multiple days. I was told by a nurse I “shouldn’t be on the phone all day” and received resistance from a social worker for simply trying to advocate for myself. After discharge, I was transferred to PCH with no coordinated handoff, no food accommodations, and no support for transportation or follow-up appointments. I am formally requesting: A full audit of my patient records and discharge summary A review by the Arkansas Department of Health regarding staffing, accommodations, and discharge planning Mandatory trauma-informed and neurodivergent care training for all staff Improved communication protocols for patients with complex medical and neurological needs As Director of NAMI River Valley, I advocate for mental health reform across Arkansas. My experience, sadly, is not unique—but it must not continue. Sincerely, Becca Clark Director, NAMI River Valley Miss Arkansas Petite USA 2025
