Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Is Peak Health the same as WVU Medicine?

No, Peak Health is a separate health plan company, although WVU Medicine's parent, WVU Health System, founded it and remains the lead owner alongside Marshall Health Network and Valley Health. Peak administers WVU Medicine employee benefits, and its provider network is built around WVU Medicine and partner hospitals and clinics.

A national wrap network from First Health, an Aetna company, extends member access to providers well beyond the WVU Medicine and partner health systems.

Peak Health is a provider-owned health plan and third-party administrator based in Morgantown, West Virginia, founded by WVU Health System and co-owned with Marshall Health Network and Valley Health. For anyone arranging addiction treatment, the first thing to settle is which Peak product the card describes, because the insurer side and the administrator side run on different rulebooks.

Peak Health Insurance Corporation is licensed in West Virginia as an accident and sickness insurer, NAIC 17441, and sells the Peak Advantage Medicare Advantage PPO plans, Vista and Summit, under contract H8947, along with the Peak Plus dual-eligible plan. Peak Health, LLC is licensed as a third-party administrator in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Kentucky and runs self-funded employer plans. The network behind both is built on WVU Medicine and the partner health systems, with national access through the First Health Complementary network, an Aetna company.

This guide covers what each Peak line pays toward substance use treatment, where the published figures stop and a call to Member Service begins, which services carry prior authorization, what out-of-network care costs, how addiction medication sits on the 2026 formulary, and how to work out whether a program holds a Peak contract.
