I emailed asking about services. Received a cold response not addressing my question and denying any assistance. I asked further, and after 5 emails, I was told only members receive help. So, how do I become a member? 7… emails later I got an intake call number… After calling, I was told that I needed a case manager to receive help, and I was transferred. Another JCS representative answered, and said she would get back to me. Finally, days later, I was called. She said “we don’t offer services you’re looking for”. When I questioned how they could possibly know that without a FULL evaluation by a - case specialist- , I was told, “we also have a state residency requirement of at least 6 months to join”. She then referred me 311. No resource provided was helpful. I find the same experience with most services I call in Baltimore. Especially Jewish services. You would think as a lifetime member of the community, I could find a single agency willing to assist me without begging a community leader to call on my behalf. No, I cannot. People intentionally make it difficult for the disabled to receive help. Organizations goal is to service the least amount of people as possible. Disabled people are left to die.
good 😊
These people completely wasted my time. They called me in for an interview, had me do a house walkthrough, met the residents and all.. just to email me out of nowhere saying they weren’t moving forward with the process.… The person that did my interview process was rude and lacked communication. When I asked her, Sierra Harper, for an explanation as to why, she just ignored my email. I will never understand why, but they will never get the opportunity to disrupt my life again.
My experience with Jewish Community Services was phenomenal. I utilized their career services as I embarked on a sudden and stressful job search process. The staff, particularly Karen Hammer, was professional and… extraordinarily helpful in finding potential jobs and navigating the entire job process with me, from the submission of cover letters/resumes to interviewing. Karen's steadfast dedication, calm composure and eye towards detail helped my job search process immensely.
Horrible experience I'm still at an 🫢 the way I have been treated from the staff it's so sad that we try and push ourselves everyday when dealing with mental health and you have absolutely NO support I see why ppl are… walking around unstable/suicidal etc. Karma is real✌️.
A try will convince you
The JCS staff are committed to excellence in all aspects of service, ranging from in-home care, to mental health care, to career guidance. The outstanding services provided are available to all members of the community,… Jewish and non-Jewish.
Horrible customer service. Don’t talk to the guy Steve Land about anything involving rental assistance. He takes weeks to contact back and ask the same questions once he does contact back just to say he can’t help. Wish… I could leave 0 stars.
This was a very valuable Mental Health training for professionals and laypersons. Our community needs the support of trained people as an aid in avoiding crisis situations with safety always in mind.
I went to a professional development class at JCS for social workers today. Howard Resnick was the teacher and I thought he was wonderful!
I used JCS when I still had my old name between 2011 and 2012. It was a waste of time. They weren't very helpful. My old JCS counselor was Tovah Jaffee. She kept trying to offer me a server position at North Oaks most… likely because of my disability. And the fact not too many places would hire me. This is despite the fact that this place is not on a bus line. It also got to the point where she began to make mostly negative remarks about my mannerisms in coaching class. Based on what different instructors said. I should've never stayed with them for nearly a year. Especially when her assistant Gerschon told me how hard it would be to get a job the first day I met with them. My old DORS counselor and my father were there too. If I could turn back time, I would've never stayed with them for almost a year. I was 18/19 at the time, but was treated like a 4 year old. 😒
I worked with JCS on several occasions and it was a complete waste of time. I wish I could give them minus zero.
JCS Baltimore is filled with caring, hard-working people who are willing to go the extra mile to help people with career, education, family, and financial issues. They are compassionate and knowledgeable. In Owings… Mills, they're open on Sundays. So, so grateful that JCS exists for anyone who cares to use their services. Can they work miracles? No...but they come close!
I loved doing the WOWI job assessment and learned a lot about my career options. The coach gave me a great analysis. The Career Center is awesome!
