About Washburn House – Worcester

Washburn House is an adult addiction treatment center at 1183 Main Street in Worcester, Massachusetts, open around the clock and licensed by the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Addiction Services. It is a private for-profit site within Promises Behavioral Health, registered as Aloria of Worcester, LLC and also trading as Promises Path – Worcester, and the program dates its founding to 1896.

One payer fact shapes who this place is for. The only coverage the program states is Medicaid and Medicaid managed care plans, which makes it one of the few medically monitored detox and extended-care options in central Massachusetts genuinely open to an adult without private insurance. Private insurance and self-pay are not addressed in its published payer information, so anyone outside Medicaid should ask before travelling.

Men and women are both admitted, with gender-specific programming running inside a mixed-gender building rather than on separate sites, so ask how group work and living space are arranged if that matters to you or the person you are calling for. Alongside addiction, depression, anxiety and trauma are treated as co-occurring conditions. Andrea Dayotas, a licensed mental health counselor and alcohol and drug counselor, is executive director.

Washburn House Detox and Rehab Services

The sequence runs on one site: medically monitored detox, clinical stabilization, inpatient rehabilitation, day and half-day treatment, extended care of ninety days or more, and outpatient care. That continuity is the practical argument for the place, since someone can finish withdrawal management and move into longer residential treatment without facing a fresh intake elsewhere at the point they are most likely to walk away.

The substances named are wide-ranging: alcohol, opioids including heroin, fentanyl, morphine and prescription painkillers, stimulants including methamphetamine and cocaine, benzodiazepines such as Xanax, ecstasy and polysubstance use. Vivitrol is the one medication named, so ask about buprenorphine or methadone if an opioid is involved. Therapy covers CBT, DBT, trauma therapy, group work, twelve-step work and experiential classes including yoga and music.

Clinical leadership is staffed out in a way that matches the levels on offer: a clinical director who is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor, a director of nursing, a clinical stabilization program director, an outpatient program director and an admissions director. Aftercare continues through the Rooted alumni program. Bed numbers are not published, so confirm a bed is open before arranging transport into Worcester.

Washburn House Address, Location and Contact Information

The program publishes its address as 1183 Main Street, Worcester, Massachusetts 01603, in Worcester County, an urban location on one of the city’s main routes. Check the street number on arrival: federal provider records still list practice locations at 1329 and 1398 Main Street under the same legal entity, so a map search on the name alone can send a caller to the wrong building on the same street.

Boston is 39 miles east and Barre 18 miles north-west, which puts the site within reach of both the city and the rural center of the state. The main line is +1 508 552 2376 and admissions has a separate number, +1 508 834 8599; because the site is open 24 hours a day, an overnight call will be answered. Details are published at washburnhouse.com.

How Much Does Treatment at Washburn House Cost?

Washburn House publishes no prices, and for most of its intake it would not need to: the program states that it accepts Medicaid and Medicaid managed care plans, which for an eligible adult usually means little or nothing out of pocket across detox and residential care. No individual managed care organization is named, so check that your specific plan sits inside the accepted set before admission.

What is missing from the payer information matters just as much. Private insurance and self-pay are not mentioned in the statement the program publishes, and Medicare is not mentioned at all, so do not assume a commercial policy or a cash payment will be taken here. Staff will check coverage by online form or on 508-552-2376 and say they aim to keep out-of-pocket costs down.

Statewide private-pay ranges in Massachusetts run roughly $8,000 to $27,000 a month for medical detox, $8,000 to $35,000 for residential care and $1,500 to $6,000 for outpatient treatment. Those are state-level figures for people paying privately rather than this program’s charges, and they are worth knowing mainly as a measure of what Medicaid coverage at a site like this is worth to a household.

Washburn House Reviews

No reviews have been left for Washburn House on RehabSeekers yet. The listing draws on state licensing and federal provider records: licensing by the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Addiction Services, NPI 1144769167, and a legal entity of Aloria of Worcester, LLC, which also holds the names Washburn House and Promises Path – Worcester and sits within the Promises Behavioral Health group of providers.

On accreditation, a Joint Commission badge appears on the program’s own site, but that is the provider’s claim rather than an entry on an accreditation register, and the program does not appear on CARF’s register. No state license number is published, and the 1896 founding date comes from the program itself. If you have been treated here, a first-hand account would help someone weighing a Medicaid admission.

My experience at The Washburn House in Worcester is something I will always be grateful for. ❤️ Going through detox and CSS was not an easy journey, but the staff were there for me during some of the hardest moments.… Their kindness, patience, support, and encouragement helped me feel that I was not alone. They treated me with compassion and respect and helped me take things one day at a time. I truly appreciate every staff member who took the time to listen, encourage me, and believe in me when I was struggling to believe in myself. The support I received gave me the strength and hope to keep moving forward in my recovery. I know recovery is a journey, and I still have work to do, but I am leaving with lessons, memories, and gratitude that I will carry with me. Thank you to everyone at The Washburn House for being part of my journey and for helping me see that a better life is possible. From the bottom of my heart, **thank you for everything.** ❤️

The Washburn House program from the ATS (Detox) to the CSS program was incredible. I honestly will not be able to put into words how much this Program helped me so much in many different ways. The food, I did not have a… bad meal in the 28 days I spent there. The camaraderie between most of the gentlemen and some women was amazing. Also, the staff. I could write a book on how helpful, thoughtful, caring, supportive, and genuinely there to help the clients in any way they could. So I wanted to share the first names of the staff members that made an impact on me. In no particular order: Jess, Kara, Cheryl, John, Cesar, David, Nick, Andramada, Chris, Matt, Ryan, June, Ronnie, Mark, Dave, Angel, Kristal, J, Peter, Mike, Lucia, Ronnell, Nicole. I just graduated there on 9/1/2026. I really hope someday I could possibly do a commitment, or anything to give back to this community of great people. Thank you so much! DD

I was very happy with the overall experience that I had at Washburn. The staff members from what I could see were also in recovery. Meaning that they know and understand where we are as clients. I believe the overall… experience was positive and that has a lot to do with the staff being in recovery. I would recommend Washburn to anyone who would be in need of detox/recovery and just overall help.
