Our experience at Cooley Dickinson Hospital was mixed. We are grateful to the nurses and physicians who helped deliver our baby safely, and several staff members were genuinely kind and supportive. Unfortunately, our… postpartum lactation experience was disappointing. As first-time parents, we strongly support breastfeeding. Our concern was not the encouragement of breastfeeding, but the lack of careful assessment, empathy, and proactive problem-solving when difficulties arose. My wife developed severe nipple pain, swelling, tissue damage, and bleeding, yet we were repeatedly reassured that things were normal and encouraged to continue. Later records documented nipple breakdown, a tight latch, and concerns about our baby's tongue/jaw. When we raised concerns about whether our baby was getting enough milk and asked about supplementation, we felt our concerns were initially dismissed rather than objectively assessed. Only after continued advocacy did we receive formula, pumping support, and a clearer feeding plan. Communication about labor pain management was also confusing. Options were presented as different “levels,” which we understood as steps to progress through sequentially. We later realized that an epidural could have been requested earlier without first exhausting the other options. We are thankful our baby was delivered safely and appreciate the staff who cared for us well. Our concern is that first-time parents depend heavily on professionals to listen carefully, recognize problems, explain options clearly, and act when something is not working. We hope the hospital uses this feedback to improve lactation support, communication, and patient-centered care.
RUDE RUDE !!!!!
10/10 I was born here in 2010 and I have yet to parish to the afterlife so they must be doing something right.
How can you pull out of Blue Cross mid year when it takes so long to get appointments. Now us elderly folks on limited budgets have 3 months 10/1/2026 to 12/31/2026 of lower coverage and higher bills if we need to use… medical services OUTRAGEOUS! Or go elsewhere when our own community hospital won’t help us.
Be sure to shop around in your network for the care you need and you might find that this hospital’s prices are the highest in the area. You can find far better services at more affordable prices if you go with other… providers and specialists in the area. Be an advocate for yourself!
I was sent over to get labs done from a doctor across the street. I’ve never been to the hospital before. I sat with the person to get checked in for labs and was immediately sent away to go call central registration to… update all my info. There’s no one in the whole hospital besides the ED to get registered which was very frustrating and inconvenient.
Good Lord. The amount of ants and flies on the cot my child was put on in the Emergency Room- and her very real pain and physical trauma went fully unaddressed for over three hours. She has had nightmares about this… experience. I had asked not to be taken here because we all know it is an awful place but it was the closest ER. Avoid if possible and pray if you ever need to be in Cooley Dick. It ia the worst facility ive ever seen- go to Greenfield!!
I had to stop using valet here because the manager Luis tried giving my 17 year old daughter his number multiple times but she refused and felt uncomfortable. I asked multiple staff about him and they all say he’s very… flirtatious and doesn’t know how to leave the attractive women alone . Now when my daughter comes and doesn’t use valet he always says something to her to try to use valet again . But she ignores him and he just stands there staring at her walk by , as if he is checking her out . Not once did she say her age , but it’s pretty obvious she’s a young lady .
Both of my daughters were born at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and I can’t say enough wonderful things about The Childbirth Center. The staff is amazing, the delivery and postpartum rooms are great, and the celebratory… meal and nourishment room are sweet touches. I will always be grateful for the care my family received.
I plan on suing this disgusting atrocity of a hospital. I am elderly and disabled with incontinence, hypertension and migraines and they threw me out after discharge from the ER at 11:30 pm, telling me to go sit at the… bus stop! I arrived by ambulance! I contacted Mass General Brigham two days ago to tell them what's going on here and that CDH is making them look bad. STAY AWAY from this pit and go elsewhere!
The Moonlight Tavern is a Hub for All qualified adventurers and kin. Our personal bartender URS manages the energy in the room to ensure it's used as a meeting space for all nature of mythical creatures. Come see our… corner-hound-shapeshifter. Who bites and barks, and plays all day long.
I got roofied back in October and was taken here. The staff was rude, condescending and tried to gaslight me into thinking I had alcohol intoxication when that was simply not the case. They didn’t even drug test me or… do a toxicology and I woke up in the hallway to add insult to injury. Not a safe space for victims. Do better.
You should give Alec from 22 Atwood Street a raise! They fought insurance for me, even staying after their shift to make sure I got my operation approved. Everyone was incredibly kind during my hysterectomy and the time… leading up to it. I never felt embarrassed or scared, they were all gentle and compassionate.,
Tried to kick my uncle out after his car accident because they thought he didn't have insurance (he does) and made him suffer would not even give him something to drink the entire day he was there. Hope they all get… treated the same way he was treated absolutely disgusting.
By far one of the worse male nurses I have ever met. Every time I have gone there… the motto should be take two of these and call me in the morning. They do not diagnose anything. I feel it’s because they don’t see… enough true emergencies like Worcester ma. But the most rudest male nurses I have ever met. They suck the care out of the nurse profession. And look at every case as it’s not an emergency because they can’t figure out what’s wrong with someone. They flat out do not see use of ct scans. Thank goodness I pushed the issue and it made them mad because I found out I had adrenal gland issues, than he had the nerve to say oh but you already know that… covering up for the lack of care…. Um no I didn’t. Oh ok I’ll write it up. It’s bizarre behavior and lack of care. Negligence in my eyes and so many others who wish they could travel further to other hospitals but are stuck with them because they cannot travel
I had an MRI today at Cooley Dick. I have autoimmune arthritis in my back and laying flat on my back is extremely painful. The technician worked hard to make me as comfortable as possible. They were kind competent… efficient. If I need an MRI again I will go to Cooley-Dick
Brand new
I went into the ER at 5pm on a Saturday and was seen right away. I ended up needing emergency surgery. All the staff starting from the second I walked in until I was wheeled out were amazing. Nurses, doctors, surgeons… and phlebotomists were all kind, compassionate, and willing to go the extra mile. I cannot thank this group enough for taking such great care of me in such a horrific situation.
I brought my special needs child to the ER on Friday afternoon for a deep cut on his hand that I believed needed stitches. We waited 14 hours to be seen. By the time we were finally placed in an exam room, my child was… in significant distress—crying, overwhelmed, and scared. I was alone, doing everything I could to comfort him. Instead of staff checking in to offer support or assistance, security was sent in to shut my child up. when I later popped my head out of my room to ask for help with the tv remote the nurse at the desk wouldn't even glance in my direction and with a stone face said "someone will be with you". Two hours later when the doctor finally came in, I was told that despite the depth of the cut, they would not stitch it because my child was frightened and uncooperative. I was told, “all cuts will eventually heal on their own— wounds don't require stitches.” The wound was treated or even examined, and we were sent home without care. By Monday, the bleeding had stopped, and based on the doctor’s lack of concern, I believed the injury must not have been serious. Unfortunately, the wound healed incorrectly, and my child’s finger is now permanently bent. This experience was not only dismissive but resulted in lasting harm. I expected basic medical care, compassion, and appropriate support for a child with special needs—and received none.
I was scheduled for a colonoscopy. I took half the nulytely/golytely the day before the procedure and the remainder the day of the procedure. Two hours before the colonoscopy they called and canceled my procedure.
Making people with EDS sit in your waiting room and not on a stretcher causes them spinal cord injuries!! Forseeability includes “should have known”.
Courtney MA was AMAZING! I am terrified of needles but she helped to make me feel so much more safe. I didn’t even notice when she gave me the vaccines. I really hope that I have her next time! - Ella
