Overall I had a very good experience with this place; the staff was friendly, professional, and totally competent. It wasn’t an unpleasant place to return to on a regular basis, either. My main issue (and it seems to… still be the policy there) was their use of a “color line” to manage callbacks - which is when they call a patient with takehomes back to the clinic to make sure they’re taking their doses correctly and not diverting them. They would do monthly callbacks for everyone with a week or more of takehomes, and you were assigned a color and expected to call a hotline each and every single weekday morning - if your color happened to be called; you were expected to make it to the clinic before closing time, and have your bottles checked. Excuses were not generally tolerated, and as the color line would be updated between 5 and 6AM every morning and the clinic would close at noon, you had VERY little notice. You could go to the clinic in downtown Denver that stated open until 8PM, but this was hugely inconvenient, expensive, stressful and time-consuming to pull off - even moreso than a normal callback. This was very difficult for me to deal with personally - I have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and I would practically be so worried that I felt like I was going to throw up when I had to call that hotline every morning - and I’d regularly lose sleep stressing out over what I was going to do if my color got called the next day if I maybe had to be at work early, or had promised to give a friend of mine a ride to the airport - or had literally any obligation whatsoever. It was never-ending stress too, because you had to deal with it every single day. I’ve never been on probation myself, but apparently this is how that’s managed for check-ins, which makes me dislike this “color line” scheme even more - addicts really don’t deserve to be treated like criminals when they’re voluntarily in recovery,; at least not in my opinion. I found it easier to just refuse weekly takehomes, and pick up bottles twice a week rather than deal with this dreadful color line. So yeah - this is a fine clinic in many respects, but I truly wish they would change this particular policy. For the past year I’ve been at a clinic that does quarterly callbacks instead of monthly, and actually *calls* you the night before - so you can live your life without having to call a hotline every single morning that may totally screw your entire day up at extremely short notice. I didn’t realize just how much the color line had been interfering with my life and amusing me stress until it was gone.

I am forever grateful for Denver Recovery Group/ Boulder and more specifically Trish. She has literally gone above and beyond to get me exactly where I need to be and want to be to start living and no longer just… exsisting. I recently relocated and had to change clinics and being able to see the difference in the clinics are crazy. I never felt like a number or just another client at DRG, I always felt important and heard. Thank you Trish, and DRG for helping to support me as I found many reasons to want to live a better and clean lifestyle. 🙏🏽

Throughout the intake process at the Boulder office, I was adamant about not using my health insurance so as to maintain complete anonymity. I was promised that this would not be an issue. On the intake paperwork I did… not put my SSN down. The front desk person asked that I write it on a sticky note if I didn't want it on any official paperwork. She said that my SSN would only be used to identify me at clinics. I let them know that I wanted to do self-pay throughout the intake process because this was of utmost importance to me. I advised both the doctor and the counselor that I would be paying out of pocket and they let me know that this wouldn't be an issue. Today, I come home to find a letter from my insurance company approving my treatment at DRG in the mail. I feel completely betrayed, lied to, violated, let down, and enraged to put it mildly, and believe that this is a HIPAA violation. I would suggest that NO ONE trust any matter of anonymity with DRG. DRG has completely failed me and will be filing a grievance tomorrow morning. I hope someone from DRG reads these reviews and follows up with me. I absolutely cannot believe they dropped the ball like this.

This place is the best, most professional, effective, efficient, organized, case specific, helpful staff, intelligent doctors, who are also great with their “bedside manner,” and the therapists are insightful, and will… absolutely match your effort, and energy. This is your journey and it’s hard work to be successful, but you can do it if you put forward the effort, and allow them to help you set, monitor, reach, exceed your goals, you can be part of the ever growing family that they are creating at DRG-West in Boulder. Semi tangentially, every time I’ve had to be a guest at the Colfax office, the people there were super duper nice to me, and it was always quick and easy. “B-1 at the front desk in Boulder is amazing, always, always always has a beautiful smiling face to greet you and sign you in. Then B-2, is a real “stickler,” for following the rules/protocols every time, so don’t try anything with her, but she is of course nice about making sure you are staying “in line.” D&T the counselors are both whip smart, professional and great listeners. I digress. I love this place—Enugu said

Over the years and through my addiction I've been to more than 10 clinics across the country. This place is great! They actually CARED about us! Typically this doesn't happen at a MMT clinic. Definitely would never… happen at the other clinic out in longmont.

Most of the staff is great. Been going for 3.5 years and as long as you follow the rules then you should have a decent to good experience. Does not feel super scummy. Can be a high-ish staff turnover but most are great.… It is a nice, environment, they have had multiple "extra" things over the years (donation closet, acupuncture, etc). There are a couple of really great counselors there...jenna & shayna are awesome.

This place saved me when I needed it - 5 years ago. However - many of the staff are bad at communicating. They’ll start implementing a rule, but don’t discuss with patients beforehand. We end up getting blindsided -… with a negative consequences against us

As a new patient, I was nervous to start methadone treatment. But the staff at DRG West is very knowledgeable and come from a place of understanding. I believe a lot of their staff are actually recovered addicts… themselves. Never have I felt judged by anyone here, and I can tell they truly just want to help me stay sober.
