PrairieCare – Bielenberg Drive, Saint Paul Reviews and Ratings
What patients and their families say about PrairieCare sits alongside the licensing and accreditation detail on this page. Reading the two together gives a fuller picture of this Saint Paul program than either gives alone.
Not helping those for inpatient that need help that smoke pot once a day and told you they can stop cold turkey because youre worried about a relapse but you do for those who smoke cigarettes and drink once a day is… absolutely unreal! What kind of a facility are you! Shame on you! No wonder why your only a 3 star facility!
This location is pretty good. Staff is kind for the most part. I will say some of them did make me feel dismissed or looked at me funny when I would say things. I would’ve lasted longer in the program if there was less… long breaks in between scheduled group times, which I felt took away some of my experience during process time. Overall me and a few others felt as though we were being dismissed or ignored when trying to process or include themselves during others group discussions. But overall my favorite thing about this location was Barbie and Sarah. Barbie absolutely deserves the world. She was so affirming and kind when I needed it the most. I highly recommend if you are looking for someone to talk to go to Barbie. I hope to see her blossom in this career. Absolutely amazing human being. Sarah is also an amazing staff member, she was very respectful and responsive to any questions or concerns I had. Also a very personable staff member. Thank you to these staff members for making a hard time less hard.
I had a terrible experience with Prairie Care. 1. I received one bill for all the visits in March 2026 for visits dating back to July 2025. While it appears this is not illegal it’s a horrible patient experience to… receive a bill 8 months after a visit. When I called to inquire about it they blamed an IT migration and didn’t apologize for what was clearly a mistake. 2. I changed insurance part way through treatment and since there was no front desk available at the time of the appointment it slipped my mind to provide it. That’s on me. However, any other provider I have seen would’ve called and asked for updated insurance instead of billing me without insurance. 3. The provider was 10-15 mins late for every visit. She would text me (which I also thought was odd) when she was running late but after it happened every single visit it got old and was unprofessional. 4. The provider failed to mention that she doesn’t have the credentials to diagnosis and even threw out diagnoses or said something was a “provisional diagnosis” without clarifying she not able to diagnose. I’m confused and frustrated by my experience because I’ve heard Prairie Care is a reputable place.
I will leave a more detailed review when I am able to fully process and articulate my experience. In the meantime, I will share this - I am absolutely appalled at the pure lack of empathy Sue Buelow showed when I shared… with her that two very close family members had recently passed away. She offered zero condolences, in fact, she breezed over what I said and continued talking about my medications as if I said nothing at all; I was stunned. Please, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Surely, there is someone out there who can both prescribe medication AND show empathy. Sue is clearly not that person and that is both hurtful and harmful.
Thee people never pick up the phone ever. It’s the same thing with the maplewood location. I called multiple times before they closed and nobody answered and I need to get on the nurses line. How hard is it to just pick… up and transfer???? Now I have nothing for tonight. This isn’t a one time thing, I’m always dealing with this at this office.
If attending daily Narcotics Anonymous meetings for the rest of your life sounds exhilarating, I have the doctor for you! Sandra Quinn dangerously overprescribes controlled substances. My niece took her medication AS… PRESCRIBED (she trusted her and wasn’t fully aware of the risks), and now she is addicted to narcotics. She was being given something like 60mg of Xanax every month. She then essentially started treating my daughter like she was drug-seeking, claiming that she no longer felt comfortable treating her after she inevitably became dependent on the pills. Xanax withdrawal is extremely dangerous, yet she was left to fend for herself. I’m just very, very glad she made it out of the detox alive. But, I suppose if you ARE looking for narcotics (I’m not shaming or judging if you are), Sandra is your gal! Just tell her that you have a couple of panic attacks every month and she’ll happily write you a 12 year, daily prescription. This is why we have such a rampant addiction crisis in this country.
Very helpful staff, everyone I interacted with seemed to genuinely care.
Beautiful place that made me feel heard and taken care of. I felt comfortable voicing anything I needed
I am about to graduate out of the IOP program (Track A) tomorrow. I wanted to say that this has been one of the most healing times of my life. The staff are kind, professional, and respectful of where a person is at.… Their dedication to diversity is excellent and I received care above and beyond my expectations. I want to personally thank Jill, Brittany, Kayla, Tira, Sarah, Nick, Eduardo, Dr. Richardson, and Dr. Green. You all worked together to help me and my group process complex feelings, sort out our medicines, and gain management skills for depression, anxiety, and so many things. One of the things that really shook me in the best way was how much they care not only about me and the other patients. I am beyond grateful for the program they designed. It has helped me, my support circle, and my family. I no longer feel ashamed of my mental health and finally feel like I have the tools I need to be successful. Thank you for everything.
If you are in need of a facility that offers dedicated and empathetic mental health care, then this establishment is the ideal choice. Every aspect, from the initial telephone correspondence to the entire staff, all the… way until the culmination of your program, is incredibly valuable and worthwhile.
Shout out to the Woodbury site staff!
Liars when they say 12 weeks for the adult ADBTIOP. I really wanted to remain with the program for the twelve weeks.
Worst place to try and get care. So disorganized. Never got a folder. No skill sheets. Just more depression. Don’t go here if you really want to get better. Prairie care is not the place.
Very supportive and helpful. People there were wonderful.
I greatly enjoyed my experience at Prairie Care, the staff is excellent, but I would have NEVER gone there if I had known they were out of network. During the intake process, I had to provide them with my insurance… information and was assured they were in-network with my provider, this is the ONLY reason I went. The day before I was to complete the PHP program, I began receiving explanation of benefits (EOBs) from my insurance saying that the back half of my program was out of network. When I called my insurance provider, I was told that the claims for the first half of my treatment were done with one site code and then a different, out-of-network, code was used for the back half. When I returned for my last day, I provided this to the staff, received a call from billing assuring me that the treatment was truly in-network and that I had nothing to be concerned about. Two months later, I received a phone call from overseas stating I had a past due balance of a substantial amount. I asked to speak to someone in billing directly, who told me the balance I was told wasn't even my final amount. They, "weren't sure what it would be," but told me to just sign over the checks I had received from my insurance company to call it even. Instead, I requested a final bill. Today, THREE MONTHS after I finished my time at PHP, I received what I hope is my final bill. It is $11,000 more than the bill I received in January, $4,500 more than the checks I received from my insurance provider, and $14,000 more than it would have been if they had not lied when they told me they were in-network. Shame on you, Prairie Care. UPDATE: 4/25/2023 After I posted this review, I received a phone call from Prairie Care offering to lower my bill to the amount my insurance paid me for the service. I signed over my checks and was told I would be provided a statement showing I owed nothing further. Last week, I received a bill from Prairie Care for $6k, which is much more than the difference between my previous "final bill" and the amount I had already given them. When I called, billing didn't know anything about the $6k bill, why I received it, or even when it would have been printed because, "that isn't what you owe." The bill has the same branding and remittance information as every other statement I have received from Prairie Care. When I asked them to please just tell me how much I owed them once and for all, they told me $1k. I told them my long sob story and asked for them to please confirm for me that this is all that I owe because I just can't keep doing this with Prairie Care. I just want one number that makes sense and I want it on paper. That's all. I'm not asking for you to give this to me for free, even though, according to everything you told me, it should have been covered fully by my insurance. I'm literally just asking for a final amount that makes sense and I want it on paper. He sent me to his supervisor and gave me her direct dial information. Last Friday, I left a voice mail for his supervisor and I still haven't heard back. I'm not sure where else to go or what to do. I don't want you in my life anymore, I just want to pay you what I owe you and be done. How can you not even tell me what I owe you?
I have been with Prairiecare for several years now and want to shout out Laura DaBruzzi at the Woodbury clinic for being so fantastic! Highly recommend her for anyone searching for a therapist!
While I’ve only had two sessions with him, Jordan Madden has been a great psychiatrist so far. He’s been present and has asked insightful questions to help me. I was extremely nervous to come to see a psychiatrist at… first, but still hopeful as I’ve been really worn out from trying so many medications with other standard practice providers. Right off the bat after my first session, Jordan had a medication recommendation that has been working well so far, and was kind and affirming of me already being started with a therapist as well. He’s had great answers for my questions, and all around I’m glad I chose Prariecare.
I did an 8 week IOP program there this fall, and I only have great things to say about it. The team of therapists, social workers, and med providers are incredibly welcoming and kind while still remaining professional.… I instantly trusted them, and they made me feel safe. They created an environment that allowed me to heal. The program included group therapy as well as psych education where I learned so many coping skills, perspectives, and emotion regulation techniques that will continue to help me grow throughout my life. And as a bonus they always had a plethora of snacks available.
I'll be honest, I'm really on the fence about this program. I am currently 4 weeks into the adult DBT program after being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. I also have severe PTSD after surviving… Guillain-Barre syndrome twice and subsequently being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, an incredibly rare terminal neuromuscular disease. Clinically my case is complicated. I don't disagree that I really need help right now, but I am not sure this is the place for me. I feel like some of the clinicians severely lack empathy. I do not feel that they are familiar enough with my case or know enough about my conditions in order to effectively help me effectively address my issues. I do not like my psychiatrist at all. She acts like I am not even worth her time. She acts as if she is upset that I'm even there. I'm grateful at least they have not pushed meds on me. Though I do not think my current meds are effective and I want to get off them. I'm really not interested in trying anymore antidepressants. I found something that works for me, though it is not accepted by Western medicine, It's not an idea they would even entertain. I will say that I have received enormous benefit from participating in the groups, hearing other people's stories, sharing with one another being open and vulnerable. These are all things that have helped me to do and I'm grateful for that. I have really mixed feelings. I think they would benefit from having smaller groups that start together at the same time instead of staggering people in like they currently do. I will say that I feel good enough about participating that I willing to keep an open mind and keep working the program. I may end up changing my review later, but so far I feel like my experience hasn't exactly been stellar. More a roller coaster of frustration and confusion, but also there have been positive aspects. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and I will finish the program But I think some of their staff needs to work on their empathy.
Participating in the IOP restored hope in my life. The staff were compassionate and wise, and connecting with others facing similar struggles was life-changing. I would urge anyone struggling with anxiety and depression… to at least investigate the possibilities here.
Excellent experience every time
I would give 4.5 out of 5 if there was that option. But I’d rather round up than down. I felt that the place was professional and was impressed with how often one got to meet with a psychiatrist during the i.o.p.… program. That’s unheard of (in a good way). Also Prairie Care gets you in the door right away which is hugely important because when people are in a bad headspace getting help quickly is usually an obstacle. I want to shout out to two staff members that I think deserve praise. Marta (group therapist) and Allison (receptionist). I always looked forward to seeing them and what they brought to the table, even if my interactions with Alison were just friendly “good mornings,” it makes a difference. One thing I would recommend that personally would have made things a tad bit easier for me (everyone’s different, but personal preference) is to have had a bit more guidance and information the first day, even before joining in with the group. I do highly recommend Prairie care and I wish I’d known places like this existed sooner in my life. If you do decide on prairie care really set it as a priority, and take it all in. If anything comes up that upsets you.. relay that to staff. They’re very professional and supportive. In conclusion Prairie Care got me into a better place and helped me make it through a really dark spot in my life, and the intensive outpatient program helped me feel like I had professionals on board helping me navigate and also group support.
Loved my psychiatrist, but after losing insurance and having a few obstacles in my way, I had to stop taking my meds. Needed advice on withdrawal symptoms and I got a very cold response from the nurse of my… psychiatrist. I need help. I'm screaming for help and I get a cold shoulder. She made an already stressful situation for myself worse when I thought they would be the only ones who could support me. Yeah, I have a wealth of issues and thank you for making it more apparent that Im just not worth the effort.
First of all, Prairie Care is a great facility that saved my life, IOP is worth the time and money, and so is the therapy. However some staff- especially nurse practitioners could try to be more compassionate and… understanding.
