About DCCCA Inc – Lawrence (3015 West 31st Street)

DCCCA Inc operates from 3015 West 31st Street in Lawrence. The site sits in Douglas County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Oskaloosa and Ottawa. Kansas draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.

Detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Detox and Rehab Services at DCCCA Inc

Withdrawal management covers alcohol, benzodiazepine, cocaine, methamphetamine and opioid dependence and is handled on site rather than referred elsewhere. Someone starting in detox can move into residential care without changing provider or repeating an intake. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Residential runs both short and long term, so the question at intake is which length the assessment points toward. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Waiting times move with capacity, and what was true last month may not hold this week.

DCCCA Inc Address, Location and Contact Information

The address is 3015 West 31st Street, Lawrence, KS 66047, in Douglas County. The catchment reaches Oskaloosa and Ottawa. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.

Telehealth appointments cover some contact where travel is difficult, which removes part of the journey for people further out. Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

Walking into rehab was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. I expected cold halls, awkward silence, and feeling completely alone. Instead, I found people who slowly helped stitch pieces of me back together,… sometimes gently, sometimes with tough love, and sometimes while laughing so hard I forgot where I even was for a minute. This place was equal parts therapy, life lessons, emotional damage repair shop, and accidental comedy show. The staff somehow mastered the art of being strict enough to keep us alive while still making us feel deeply cared for. That takes a special kind of magic. To the staff: thank you for seeing people instead of problems. Thank you for the hard conversations, the warm smiles, the accountability, the comfort, and the moments that made us feel human again. To the women there with me: you were some of the strongest people I’ve ever met. Recovery is not pretty every day, but neither is becoming a butterfly, and somehow we were all learning how to grow wings in there. Sobriety isn’t the end of life, it’s the beginning of finally getting to live it. Thank you for helping me find pieces of myself again. I walked in terrified, and I walked out hopeful. That is something I will never forget ✨

First Step at Lakeview is an amazing place to go. The staff is absolutely amazing, you have Ashley Brett and Jan who go above and beyond what they need to to make us feel comfortable and at home. My experience was… personable because of them and I really can't thank them enough.

My name is Bernarda Galeano. I am a drug addict. Drug addiction has destroyed my life. Six of my children are currently in state custody, and I am pregnant. I need rehabilitation to get my children back and, more… importantly, to rebuild my life. I would love to be a part of your program and be accepted. I want to be part of society again.

Treated my girlfriend with disrespect as soon as she showed up and continue to tell her she can leave and they’re not gonna try to get her to stay.

I was there in 201--2015.. I absolutely loved it there. The groups the staff. They made recovery fun. I'm currently 7 years clean and now I work at a treatment facility also. ❤️

I went to first step for 28 days and graduated. The staff is wonderful. The classes taught me so many coping skills and lots of therapy which was my favorite class at first step. Food was delicious. They helped me get… into an Oxford house right after I left and I am still sober to this day!

First step literally saved my life on more than one occasion. I read these other reviews that sadly give them a 1 star making there rating very low. Unfortunately not everyone is ready for recovery and it sounds like… these were the ppl who were not quite there yet. You can not blame a facility for your daughter not staying in the program. She chose that path, not First step. Yes there are women fresh out of jail, everyone deserves a chance at recovery. Stating that made for a hostile environment is ridiculous. I have been in recovery for years. And was a chronic relapser. I had been to other treatment facilities. 7 others to be exact and could never make It past 60 to 90 days. I came to first step and managed to get 18 months before my own stupidity caused a short relapse. I then went back to first step with no judgements from any of them and now have over 2 years clean sober with a better life than I could imagine and a recovery that is string with the tools I needed to gain from treatment. I recommend first step to any woman struggling with addiction.

When you work the program you get what you put into it. I felt very restricted and confined at first with the way the RULES were set up. In time that changed COMPLETELY. While we are coming off drugs we tend to make… EVERY REASON to escape the facility or run away from our recovery (same thing we did using drugs escaping reality) but this team of ppl are truly a blessing to me. Without the push from the techs to stay and work this program I would be in a WHOLE DIFFERENT mind set living life very chaotic and unmanageable. It works if you work it!!!

This facility and its staff gave me an opportunity to heal and recover, work on getting custody of my son and learn/work through the traumas I went through in my life and in my addiction. I am very thankful to have been… able to take advantage of this program, also which made it possible to enter back in to the work force and maintain stability. Thank you first step, I have 3 years of being clean and many more to come
