Chrysalis House Inc – Crownsville Detox and Rehab Services
What Chrysalis House Inc – Crownsville offers, on record, is residential treatment, intensive outpatient and sober living. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.
Both conditions are treated in parallel, which is what the research supports. Housing support is listed for the months following a more intensive stage. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

Chrysalis House Inc – Crownsville Reviews and Ratings
Reviews for Chrysalis House Inc are drawn from around the web and from RehabSeekers itself, where patients, loved ones, healthcare workers and referring professionals can share their experience of the Crownsville program.
I will rate Chrysalis House based on when I was there and when it was being ran by different staff and Mrs Carisaa was there. Other than that I can not speak for the program after Mrs. Carissa left. When I was there it… was tough but it is what i needed. I have never been to a program that actually cared and literally internally got to me dug up some buried issues and I worked on them. Mrs. MELVINA was my counselor, she was amazing. Most of the staff had went through addiction. Mrs Denise was amazzziiinnggg i never felt uncomfortable, leaving my son with them during the day. The whole staff at that time was amazing. Yes, it was very strict, but they did it in a loving way because they did not want us to die. I know countless women That graduated the Chrysalis House and are still clean. I have ten fifteen, close lifelong friends that I had met at Chrysalis and that are still clean to this day. I have never went to a treatment that had this much success. Like I said, I cannot speak for the new staff, but it sounds like it is still a great program. While I was there and before I left, they were building on the new addition which was beautiful. It was finished before I left but was not open yet. A woman and children's program is needed and I hope that this one is ran as good as it was when I was there.I'm sure it is. I felt so safe with my children. I'll forever be grateful for Mrs. Carissa and all the staff.
They are control freaks here they charge patients money for pharmacy copays and if you dont pay it thet take away your privileges no cigarettes no packages that family sends there very selfish with this!!!
I give this place 2 stars I would they are the worst my aunt sent ma a amazon package with diamond paintings and they told me i had to pay them $3 for pharmacy copay or i wouldnt be allowed to accept my package I wasnt… working had no money! I had to ask someone for money they are horrible here and you cant have a cigarette break if you dont pay pharmacy copay! On top of this is i was told I had to buy a stamp and envelope to write my family!! Do not come here its the worst residential treatment facility ive ever been too!!! I seen the post on fb this lady wrote and came to also share my experience thank you for allowing me to share!!! There was a few staff members that was really nice and caring and encouraging and I thank you I learned alot in order to stay clean i seen the owners response on another post saying they do not engage in pharmacy copays please ask all the patients because they 10000000% do and the staff there abuse there authority and I believe they scammed us for the copays our insurance is suppose to cover everything while we're in a facility
I was someone who stayed here for so time almost a year. I know you can't please everyone but they did try to. Most of the residential staff was wonderful very attentive to the clients needs. The two that I felt that… went beyond their job was Simone and Melissa I felt very safe and comfortable w them and they are some of the most compassionate, caring staff I have come across I truly believe they are at their job not only for a paycheck but to help. Thank you to all the residential staff. The clinical team here is beyond amazing I am actually lost for words how much the team does. They are all very passionate about their job and they make u feel welcomed and safe . I honestly believe if you are willing to chose recovery Chrysalis House will and can help 💯
From the moment I got on the phone with them, I felt like someone actually heard me . They didn’t push me or judge me—just straight up helped me figure out what I needed. The place had a super chill energy, kind of like… a breath of fresh air after all the chaos I’d been through .What hit different was the way they blended structure with real understanding. It wasn’t just "do this, follow that"—they actually asked what worked for me. Big win. I got my head clear, my heart a little lighter, and finally feel like I’m not stuck anymore 🎧.
MD Rehab Specialists got me right from the jump, no BS. They kept it real and didn’t sugarcoat the struggle but also showed mad respect for where I was at. The crew there made me feel like I wasn’t just another… number—they actually cared. The vibe was chill but focused, with counselors who spoke my language and didn’t act like they were above me. They helped me see that change was possible and had my back every step of the way. If you want a place that keeps it 100 and helps you get your life back, this is it.
MD Rehab Specialists is where you go when you’re sick of the cycle and ready to flip the script. These folks don’t just slap a band-aid on the problem — they dig deep and help you figure out why things got so heavy in… the first place. From detox to full-on recovery plans, they’ve got your back every step of the way. Real talk, real care, and a team that doesn’t treat you like a screw-up.The setup’s clean, the vibe’s chill, and the help? Next level. Whether you’re just starting out or need a second (or third) shot, MD Rehab’s all about helping you stay up once you get up. No lectures, no guilt trips — just the support you need to get right and stay right.
MD Rehab Specialists made me feel like I wasn’t just another person in the system. From the first conversation, they treated me with respect and didn’t rush anything. Detox was handled with care, and they explained… everything in a way that didn’t feel overwhelming. They were there through the rough parts, and that steady support really helped me stay grounded. What stood out most was how personal everything felt. They took time to understand what I needed—not just what worked for everyone else. If you’re ready to start fresh and want a team that shows up with real care and no judgment, this place is a solid choice.
The place itself is good especially during the holidays if your in residential treatment. Once in IOP upstairs it is awful service
I really late my time at the Chrysalis House. The classes were very helpful, they helped me learn how to live life when I got out of there. My counselor was awesome, she helped me a lot. The other staff members were… professional and nice and also helped out a lot. They have a lot of donations for people that needed things coming into the place. Once I moved up in levels I got to go out on passes with family and friends. They helped me get on the right path and help me do the right thing when I left that is the first rehab I've ever graduated from is successfully completed it
I’d never send anyone there not even my worst enemy. I was a detainee, I was pregnant, and had a very rough story to tell in which I DID NOT WANT TO SHARE but oh get vulnerable it’s a part of recovery. Well I managed to… make it to level 4 in merely 4months. The day before I had my little Liam and I had never been written up on contract NOTHING. I was with my son for about 4-5months and another client used my charges/case against me and made a FALSE accusation, they pulled me in the conference room with all the crooked administrators and unbeknownst to me they already called my county jail I was a inmate at and had them on thier way to get me and tried to swade me to admit to the allegations and I refused there was no proof heresay instead I was shackled and handcuffed as they held my baby. Me hyperventilating crying begging them not to do this. My mom came and got my son and promptly told them you have no idea what you just did to my daughter. If it wasn’t for that hell hole nightmare of a place and thier false bullshit I would have never seen jail time. 15momths away from my oldest son and my new baby and my mom died while I was in prison. I won’t ever trust this place or any other place I came in with PTSD left with complex PTSD acute trauma Illness. I was there Oct 2021-may 2022 and I know it’s under new management just can’t trust it. But I have my little one with me and thriving and still clean and sober.
Chrysalis house saved my life !!! Hands down I would send women here before anywhere it helped me be a mother to my children who are thankful to chrysalis house for helping their mom
Luke 12:2
Alright I left Chrysalis House in October 2023. T!!! I miss you!!! Melissa if your still they're your thee best Aysa you're a hardworker and Symone thank you for everything. Ms. Susan if your still there your horrible… still to this day because I did the time required and indured the 4 months while I watched so many other ppl skate. My problem is I did what was asked of me about because you knew I needed something you held it over my head so I basically left a domestic violence situation being controlled just for you to up and do the same thing it wasnt fair and may god handle u the way he may decide. My problems only God and time can heal. I've also watch this program call cps on a mom trying her best for her child because he had some behavior issues. They didn't care they called cps. Not thinking what that would do for her recovery or her mental state not even caring about her child mental state or trauma smh. I've watched ppl bring drugs onto the facility during visits while staff is hounding certain clients and there visit trying to prevent hook ups they in the other room giving the other one drugs and liqour. Why not watch them alot more carefully. The therapist Eboni was a total waste I've never seen a therapist with so much opinionsto have about someone they saw once every month or 2. Other than that I love all the people I met the woman I have created a bound with if it wasn't for yall I would've never made it as far as I did so to chrysalis house go to hell but the clients and certain staff like the ones I named yall deserve all the praise.
I was there I had to babysit babies. Go to two AA meetings a day. I was in drugs court n was sent there for a year. We had to cook clean up, go to classes, only go home fir 4 hours a week. They had a van to pick u n if… u didn’t have a person to come to pick u up u were stuck there U had to wash cars, unloading trucks n trailers get on social services. It was so horrible.
This placed saved my life. Not gonna lie the teaching is a little rough but they helped me mold myself in who I am today. Mrs. Caressa loved me when I didn't know how to love myself. She was extremely hard on me. But I… needed it. Because it helped me understand myself. I would recommend this place to all women. And you can't blame staff for anything because your the one that got yourself there. You are the reason your in recovery. So I feel you have to keep a open mind. If You can survive there then you can survive the real world. I'm so thankful for this place. This place wasn't easy on me. But i know I will remain clean because of the knowli knowledge ave obtained while be there.. i have over a year and month clean.
I am aware this program is not easy to complete. However, this program allowed me the time to learn how to be a law abiding citizen and a good clear headed mother to my son. The relationship I have with my child now is… unbreakable and I enjoy the freedom I experience on a daily basis.
Do NOT go here. I would not recommend chrysalis house. They abuse privalages and have stated false claims against multiple patients and had them removed from the home and threatened their well being. Not only this but… insurance fraud. They told my insurance I was funded as a mother and child the entire stay. For four months !! They also say they will be there for you for support in court which never happened. Staff leaves and people are fired on a regular basis. I had covid pnumoia and was quarantined into a side of the house where medication was not given and at times they forgot to feed me. The ambulance was called three times and I had to BEG them to call. Unrealistic goals for their occupants. If you're looking for boot camp they just break you down and make you share personal Information where other people use it against you.
Chrysalis House saved my life and got my son in my custody. I would recommend this program to anyone who needs help. I'm grateful for have had them in my there for me 💜
By far the WORST treatment facility I have been in and I have been in several. My first two days there, at least FOUR staff members remarked about the program "At least it's not jail". Is this the best you can say about… your program? I've personally never been to jail. Maybe that should be their new slogan. The staff are constantly screaming at clients for no reason. If you attempt to file a complaint or grievance in the boxes provided, you are publicly called ungrateful and threatened with discharge. Smoke breaks are awful. They take your cigarettes during admissions and often make you wait 4-6 hours for a smoke break. I begged for Nicorette to help with the withdraw and was repeatedly denied. How can a treatment center not understand withdraw from one of the most addictive substances on earth? To make matters worse, often after you wait for the posted smoke break time, they either change it or make you jump through hoops for a cigarette. I was told my medication was accepted there. Upon arrival I was told one med was ok and one was not. I agreed to this but was told a week later that neither was ok so I informed staff I would have to find a different program. They begged me to stay so I agreed to try different meds, but I warned them I would likely be exhausted and tearful for several days. They promised to support me during this process, however after ONE day in bed they called a crisis unit and attempted to have me sent to a homeless shelter. The Board of Health are currently investigating them for the mistreatment I endured. I honestly felt traumatized by the time I left, with PTSD symptoms returning and frequent anxiety attacks for several days. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. I hope I never see another butterfly as long as I live.
My sister has been there for almost 6 months. We have done the two family sessions that we were asked to do. We live almost 2 hours away from the house. Last weekend my sister was to have a pass to come home and visit… us in Pennsylvania. She didn’t get to. This weekend I want to go get her on a pass and I still don’t know if she’s allowed to come out . I don’t want to leave to go get her because it’s such a long drive but I do want to see her and bring her to see her mother. I have called and been disrespected. I know they can’t confirm or deny if she is there but I don’t know how to resolve this problem with the house. My sister has been treated badly and I think it’s because of her age. She’s older than most of the residence and doesn’t have any young children. She has a hard time getting passes to go out. She has done everything they’ve asked her to do and is living in the sober living part. We would like to see her. She’s only had two day passes since she’s been there And we would like her to have a weekend pass. I’m not sure what we have to do to resolve this problem. My sister and I are both frustrated along with our mother. We are not addicts and will supervise my sister’s visit. She has been doing well since she’s been there and I really think the program has helped her a lot. And I believe she will stay clean when she leaves there. It’s just not fair the way they treat her.
My mother is going here currently and she is doin so much better and is full of life the staff is amazing and form real relationships with the women and actually want to help them get clean and stay clean
I was in 2017 and i not only learned alot about addiction and how to live again but i learned how to have fun again. I am forever grateful to everyone at Crysalis house.
It helped my Mom encourage other people to live their best lives. The program is great. It's a long term program. I'm the Mom and I was there For 8 months. Now we live in supportive housing free for a year. The people… that work there are awesome. They help women reunite with there children.I gained custody back for my daughter and will be celebrating a year clean in February.
The Chrysalis House SAVED MY LIFE!! They provide safe shelter to addicted broken single woman and ones with children. We become a big family with lots of love & support. The staff gave their TIME, LOVE & DEDICATION.… Sure at times tough love was dished out ....but it is for good reasons!!!! I learned how to take suggestions and was taught different tools on how to live life clean and sober. After graduating the program i attend their IOP (Intensive Out-patient Program) Mon. Wed. Thurs & Fri from 9-11:15. I am GRATEFUL and BLESSED
The Chrysalis House is not perfect, no recovery center is.. If you use the tools taught from them and put your recovery first you can live a happy life alcohol and drug free.. I am very grateful for the time I spent at… Chrysalis House.
my daughters mother was here with our daughter and they stole her money and her phone as she left. they constantly didn't give her my mesg.s about the baby and barely let us see her as we exchanged the baby. they… treated her very rudely once they knew they had her money. staff lies to our family and blames us for her being there. daycare there is disgusting and unfair to the kids. this is not a place for mothers to be with their kids and try to stay clean, they make it impossible by the way they treat the clients. once she decided to leave the house they made her and the baby wait outside as it is hot and she was sick cuz they wouldn't give her the meds she had there. they play games and its very unprofessional...from a dads point of view...
