My mother had surgery yesterday and spent the night to recover. Spoke to the doctor at 7:30am, it’s now 2:30 and we still do not have discharge paperwork. Why are we waiting 7 hours for discharge paperwork? On a high… turnover floor you should have staff enough to manage the patients incoming and outgoing. There is a wait to get into a room and a longer wait to get out. There needs to be some organizational changes to manage effectively. It is very apparent that that is not happening on the 5th floor. Who is responsible for managing the flow of patients in and out of the floor? This is not an indictment of the e nursing staff - it is pointing out a clear failure of management.
Went to the ER on Sunday,9/6 at 11:45 am. Had hit my head late Saturday and was not feeling well. When I registered, the person at the desk never asked what I was there for? Just told me to take a seat. The ER was… dirty, bathroom filthy and the door to the bathroom didn’t lock. After 1 hour I was called in for the nurse to take my vitals and was told they will schedule a CT. Meanwhile countless people came in and were asked in front of the entire room about their health issues. What happened to privacy? I left with my husband at 2:45 and was never seen by anyone there. I had a bad headache and couldn’t wait any longer in that mayhem. Called Customer Complaint center on Tuesday to make sure the insurance company wouldn’t be billed and spoke to Ellie the alleged customer advocate who assured me she would get back to me by EOD Tuesday. Never hear back from her. Called on Friday to follow up.. no call back. By the way, went to St. Luke’s Warren ER and was seen, diagnosed and discharged within 90 minutes. Professional team and most importantly clean!
Such bad experience……
Excellent care from the emergency dept to the surgery room to recovery and then inpatient hospital stay. My nurses were great! They were so caring and helpful. And the doctors took the time to explain and answer my… concerns. Highly recommend this hospital!
Nobody Answers the phone and nobody returns calls when messages are left. This new interim president, Kristy Alfano apparently isn't making things happen. I guess that's why they are planning on being acquired by a new… healthcare company.
Worst care I've ever received. The attending ER physician did not listen to my concerns, forced antibiotics on me without a proof of infection, didn't get appropriate comprehensive tests (tv ultrasound), and refused to… treat my chief complaint. When I pointed out his pain suggestion causes higher chance of GI bleeds per google, which I've had a history of, he denied it (I'll trust google here, thanks). This interaction is what finally pushed me to go to direct primary care at $1k/month. If I'm going to have to waste $5K on one useless ER visit, I should at least get valuable care. Our entire healthcare system is worse off because of the poor care that these types of physicians provide.
It would take a book to express the experience we have had with both my 92 year old father last year being diagnosed with dementia when all he had was an infection from a bad tooth that they refused to treat with… antibiotics. Ended up getting antibiotics at the rehab after a week on the 5th floor. He was home in 4 days and totally fine. Now my mother is there and what a fiasco. Started out with her having pain from a kidney stone. Its now a month later and she still has a kidney stone that was never addressed. Some doctor thought it was a good idea to put in a stint in the heart of an 89 year old woman that was not suffering from a heart condition at the time. Long story shorter, the botched the procedure by nicking an artery causing internal bleeding, moved her to the icu where she crashed. She survived because shes tough as nails but has now been in the hospital for a week and a half for a procedure that should never have happened. Id give the whole place a zero if I could. Healthcare is driven by $$ and not by taking care of the customer. Thats very obvious here.
This is the third time I have brought my parents here for an emergency room visit in the last year. I feel I have a pretty good perspective. Go somewhere else. My mother is currently in the ER. The alarm has been going… for 30 minutes and no one has checked to see why. We got in here seven hours ago and no one has read the CT scan to determine if anything is broken. I gave this place an extra star because the transport technician guy was quite nice.
Rebecca, nurse in radiology, was everything a patient hopes for. She was informative, friendly, efficient, and gentle!
Worst place. Don't go
I would overall give a 3-4 rating based on overall EXCELLENT ER and and good admitted patient experience as there are some really great doctors, nurses and staff but the bad apples can quickly turn the overall positive… experiences into one negative one. My experience was very good until the phlebotomist (technician drawing blood) came through. Let me preface what I am about to say with that I have had my blood drawn many many times and never have had a terrible experience before……. a bit painful at times yes but expected and tolerable. Not to digress but I have great veins. Back to the incident that sealed the fate of this rating because if a hospital has someone working inflicting this much pain, concern for patient care is clearly not valued. The first time she took the blood it was more painful than I have ever experienced before but I gritted my teeth and thought it was a one off experience. She took the blood of my roommate (sweet little old lady with the cutest voice) who cried out in pain which made me wonder if it wasn't a one off. The next morning to my horror she came in to draw blood and I tried to remain positive and very pleasant hoping she would be better than the last time. I never have experienced something so painful. I held my arm for the next 20-25 min expecting the pain to wane with no success so called a nurse for Motrin and ice pack. At that moment i had the resolve to either insist that she couldn’t touch my arm again or walk out and go to a different hospital. I thought of the little old lady and all of the other patients she was inflicting horrors onto and decided to complain to hopefully prevent further pain, fear and vulnerability. After complaining about the pain my nurse Brittany was rather unprofessional by asking questions like can I swallow and was I living at a facility or care home when I am very healthy and able to run jog and cycle 5-6 times a week. As patients we expect pain, discomfort from our sickness/injury/disease/procedures but not from incompetency and lack of compassion and empathy. I see why the hospital has such low ratings. It is interesting that no one from the hospital seems to be reading their google reviews and replying.
If you were going on vacation, would you book a hotel if it had 2.8 stars? If you were going out to eat at a restaurant, and it had 2.8 stars, would you eat there? At the time of this review, this hospital has 2.8… stars. The only reason they probably get 2.8 stars (and not much, much less) is because the doctors do know what they are doing, and there are a couple of superstar, A-team nurses (Sophia, Ce-Ce, and a couple of others) that hold the place together from being a complete mess. Asked the doctor to have the head nurse "Jess" contact me. The doctor said she put it in the notes after I requested it. I had questions regarding informed consent with training nurses. Never got a call from Jess. That's ok, next stop is NJ Department of Health and Joint Commission. If Jess doesn't want to talk to me, I have a feeling they will. Also after my mom got back from imaging and back to her holding area in the emergency room, she was never hooked back up to the oxygen in the room or her vitals. After an hour of no one coming back, I spoke to Sara who said "she was busy with 5 other people at the moment". She never came back. After another hour an half of still no one coming, I spoke to another nurse (Olivia) who came in the room and said "I don't like what I'm seeing here", hooked her up to vitals, and saw my mom's oxygen had dropped to 80, as the tank she was on when they wheeled her in from imaging (almost 3 hours earlier) had run out. Thank you Olivia for correcting the problem Sara didn't have time to resolve.
My husband was on five north a month ago and the staff was wonderful, but I want to add a special thank you to Blaze the nurse from the morning shift. He made sure he remembered and sent messages to the doctor about my… concerns and information that the doctors weren't fully aware of. He was always on time with my husband's medications, while being a personable, easy to get along with nurse. It always makes you feel good, when a nurse listens to your concerns and gets answers as quickly as possible. Thank you again, and I would like to nominate Blaze for the Daisy award too.
Had such a great experience this morning with my 12 year old daughter. Every staff member we came in contact with was fabulous- From our check-in staff to the person who pushed her bed into the ct scan room (Glen), to… the doctors and nurses (Shannon was one of our nurses). They were professional and so nice. The hospital itself was clean and accommodating. We were in a room within 10 minutes. Great experience.
I delivered here and had a very good experience. Aside from short contact with 2 bad nurses whose names I can’t remember, everyone was great. Not perfect of coarse but I felt very well cared for and I went home from the… nicu with a healthy baby so I am happy
I took my daughter here in the middle of the night because she was having extreme stomach and chest pain (this has happened to her about 5 times before but this was the worst time). They only ran bloodwork and gave her… an IV bag. The doctor wouldn’t even do an ultrasound because he said it would expose her to radiation… which is really weird he said that because ultrasounds don’t use radiation they use sound waves. They discharged her. And later that week we found out she had multiple gallstones and she had to have her gallbladder removed immediately. I’m very disappointed in the misinformation, negligence, and pure ignorance. i’ve only had negitive experiences at this er.
My mom had a hip replacement surgery at this hospital yesterday. She stayed one night on the 5th floor in the Orthopedic department. I stayed with her as well. The nurses we met there were such wonderful people—my… English is not good enough to describe them. I want to thank all the staff again, especially Stephanie, Parker, Sara, and many others, for their care, kindness, and friendly smiles. Nadir Saribacak
If ZERO was an option. Do better. No excuses. Medical Care and Science back 150 years. 'Nuff said.
ER visit back in January… - they took my blood pressure during intake, over my sweatshirt AND winter jacket sleeves… not sure how accurate that is as a vital take. - I was dismissed and was told nothing was wrong.. just… to find out there WAS something wrong the next week under different (better) care. I thought I was hemorrhaging for a good 12 hours bc of the amount of blood loss and other woozy feelings.. and of course it had stopped while being there. Not only did they dismiss me because of it stopping.. their radiology department failed to see what my OB/GYN did immediately. - also.. Just a suggestion.. Maybe listen to your patients when they swear up and down they’re not pregnant, and stop treating every bleeding woman as a miscarriage case…. Oh wait? It costs about $450 to confirm we’re not lying about not being pregnant with a blood test. - The only reason they got a second star is the absolutely, incredible, nurse who advocated for me and comforted me.
Absolutely horrible, do not come here if you have an emergency, especially a physch emergency. About a year and a half ago I was put here in ER for physch reasons. They did not follow protocol at all, I waited for over… a day in that ER with absolutely ZERO treatment, just sitting there in a dirty room. Eventually they had a physchiatrist talk to me a day later, that was pretty much the only treatment I actually got. The room was incredibly dirty and disgusting. Basically instead of getting treatment like I was supposed to, I was stuck in a disgusting room with zero treatment for over a day before I was finally able to get the heck out of there. Do not go here under any circumstances, you will receive ZERO TREATMENT!!
I would give zero stars. This ER hospital and floor staff are the worst by far. I came here for an emergency and every person I came in contact with said something else. They are so unprofessional. For example. Putting… a blood pressure cuff directly over my IV needle where do these people learn this stuff. ER said things that the floor staff said something totally different. They let their phones ring off the hook and let them ring and ring without answering. The prescriptions were so fowled up that I had to continuously tell my pharmacy I couldn't take them. They had me fast for over 34 hours claiming I was going to have one of two procedures the following day which never happened. They told me I had an infection in the er but then in patient they said no infection. They did cat scan saying my condition was not like former time I was in hospital and changed that story too giving me prescriptions I couldn't take with side effects of things I went in there for. I lost track of how many stories were told to me that kept changing. I got released knowing nothing. Then idiots don't even take patient down to the lobby in a wheelchair making us walk. And don't say this is normal practice cos two years prior the same exact thing happened. My release papers were even wrong. One thing they stated was that I had to quit smoking. I NEVER SMOKED. !!!!!!! I went to my PCP for followup which was only a glorified office visit. Btw getting another bill for. Then today Thursday someone from gastroenterologist office said that orders were made for a procedure that not once was mentioned between ER to floor to Drs office no one mentioned before. Then that staff while I was on the phone was WHISPERING back and forth and I called them out on it. By that time I have had enough of this BS. They kept on talking. I could NOT get them to shut up long enough to listen. The girl talked so fast I told her to slow down and it was like she was deaf or something. Quite frankly I don't care that I lost my temper. Everyone from ER to floor 2 to discharge needs to do their jobs. Only one that I can say was nice was the lady in the bed next to me. This hospital is by far the worst EVER. !!!!!!
I should give a zero or negative star: I called 3 time trying to find out about my mother, First time person answering was rude but said someone would call me, 2 hours went by and no response. So I called again, second… time the nurse (very nice) said my mom was going through some test and to call back in an hour. I called back in an 90 min and the same rude first person answered and said, someone would call me, I tried to ask if there was a phone so I could talk with my mom and she screeched "THIS IS AN ER, NO" I tried to ask "Can someone at least let my mom know I have been calling", But before I could get out "Can someone" she hung up on me.
I was in the ER on Thursday 2/19 (around 6:30om) for chest pains and shortness of breath. As soon as I checked in I was immediately brought to triage. They moved me so quickly because of my symptoms and I was so happy… about that, as I was terrified and not feeling well at all. The nurse that took my blood and did my EKG was absolutely AMAZING. I wish I got her name, so that’s why I put the time and date in hopes that this can be forwarded to her. She made me laugh and made me feel comforted even while I was scared. My nurses name was Dylan and he was phenomenal as well. Very kind, constantly asked if I needed anything, talked me through every step, and listened to all of my concerns. I hope this review reaches him as well. This was the most cared for and most heard I have ever felt in a hospital. Both doctors that saw me were amazing as well! Explained everything in detail and made sure that I was comfortable. I know one doctors name was Dr Yoon, the other started with an S. Keely, my ultrasound tech was absolutely wonderful as well!! The ultrasound was uncomfortable but she made sure I was okay during the whole process and talked to me as if I was a friend, not just a random person. I’d love if this message could be passed along to all of them. Hospitals are scary, and what I was dealing with was scary, but I truly felt cared for and felt like my issues mattered. The doctor that took over for Dr. S who discharged me fully listened to my concerns and agreed with me about everything after being dismissed for YEARS by other doctors. I finally felt like I had some answers. The ONLY complaint I have is my IV bag was empty and I needed to use the bathroom but I couldn’t bc I was hooked up. My mom kindly asked her if she could come in & unhook the IV, and she said she’d be right there. Two hours later, she still never came and we could see her right through my door of my room talking and laughing with other coworkers. The transport guy that brought me to my CT had to ask her a second time to please unhook me and she did seem inconvenienced by that. But overall, I am very satisfied and happy with my experience here. I was moved through quickly, taken care of really well, and felt at ease. Thank you to all the doctors & nurses & techs that took care of me that night. I am forever grateful for you all.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. Absolutely the worst place to go to for care because they do not care about you. They only care about how much money they can suck out of you regardless of how you feel. My son sat in… the emergency room for over an hour in pain awaiting care. We left and went to urgent care and they now still have the audacity to try and charge us for the pleasure of watching our son sit there in pain in their waiting room for over an hour. Absolutely the worst. Never again.
Spent the night of Wednesday Jan. 28th in the ER here, and I wanted to compliment the ultrasound tech on duty that night. She was friendly, kind and professional, and our interaction reassured me that I'd get quality… care here despite seeing some concerning reviews of this hospital online. Great person to have on your staff 👍
