Ms Amanda and Ms Ashley (unit 6) were beyond amazing thanks for all your help
Honestly, much like most parents. I googled this facility and cried reading the reviews. After a week long acute stay- I feel like this place is being under-rated by a few bad comments. If you take time to truly read my… experience, it might help calm your mind as you and your child travel through this next journey. * from the moment they accepted my child- the staff stayed in constant contact, listening to me cry, and feeding me as much information as possible. I was for the most part always able to have contact with my child. I was informed and updated through every step of her treatment process. The only downside was the visitations- which to no fault of their own we were stuck outside in the pouring rain for almost 20 mins while we waited for staff to let us in. My child stated she felt safe, and the staff overall treated her and myself with nothing but kindness. I trusted their judgment and when we did visit- the facility portion we were able to see was clean. While, I hope we never have to visit this situation again, I would recommend my child to seek treatment here again if the need arose.
This place deserves zero it is unclean unkept and terrible I cried myself to sleep multiple nights in a row with no one I wouldn’t wish it on anyone to come here if you really want you or your family to get help and get… better please do not take them here.
Very bad about communication and when I asked to get a prescription fixed they still haven’t after 2 days when my son needs it.
I can not say enough good things about the staff my child and I worked with during my child's acute stay. Every single person was kind, encouraging and helpful. I received multiple phone calls from staff members in… various positions, each of them involved in my child's care in a different way. When we visited, everyone was welcoming. Communication was top notch! My child told me about MANY staff members that made a difference in his life and supported him. Huge shout out to the staff at Laurel Heights for the unappreciated work they do. This mama noticed! ~Laurie Treadwell
Wish I could’ve scored this a zero…Never in my life have I seen a hospital that started a child on meds and didn’t send the prescription for the meds to the pharmacy. After multiple times calling the hospital to talk to… the dr prescribing the medication, I was told it would be sent. My child heard the nurses complain that I kept calling . Well DUH 🙄 Fill the meds and I’ll quit calling. I see why you rate a 2.4 on reviews! Never got the meds my child needed. My child told me that a lot of the staff were homophobic, which could be devastating to some of their patients. 🤷🏻♀️Pathetic and unprofessional.
I was borderline raped here. In 2015 I went here for 9 months and suffered so many traumatic events. I stayed in the non aggressive girls unit, i think it was unit 2. I was beaten and prayed upon sexually. The staff… never cared for my issues with the other patients. I was forced to strip infront of everyone. The staff would hold me down and threaten me, or say things like "stop grabbing my boobs b!tch" I was 13. There was even times where some of our medicines got mixed!!! Please never send your child here.
My daughter stayed for 1 month and 2 weeks and THIS PLACE IS AWFUL! Staff are very rude when calling on your child’s days to talk… the therapist will barely return your calls, the supervisor (tall black lady long… dreads) VERY rude, my daughter told me lots of stories about how they made faces while I was on the phone , laughed at her once I hung up… said I was a “strict mom” of course I am my daughter is 14!!! My daughter said the teacher over the class room for long term would call other kids “slow” and state that’s why they have that class! She said a few girls broke windows and ate the glass!!!!!! Very disturbing! The guy that answers the phone will hang up in your face over and over again!
My son said some not so nice things about the place.. He said he felt like he was in prison.. He claim that the place had rats he only had cold water to take a shower with the place smells awful.. The place stay cold… and he only had towels to cover up with. He said the staff was nice to him..
This facility deserves a zero-star rating for the severe neglect, filth, and toxic environment I experienced. There is absolutely no privacy here, to the point where they actually have cameras pointing directly into the… bathroom, which feels completely violating. The living conditions are entirely unacceptable, as Unit 7 was completely nasty, disgusting, and lacked any form of structure. To make matters worse, the staff is horrible and highly unprofessional; they constantly disrespected everyone, openly argued with each other, and even made threats to the patients. The workers simply did not care, severely neglected those in their care, lost my personal belongings, and never updated parents on what was happening. On top of all this isolation, I was never even allowed to call my family beacause they didn't even try to call my dcs worker to ask for my parents number. Do not send your loved ones to this unsafe place. I forgot to write this. but DO NOT COME HERE!
Actually zero stars… Worse place ever for my child. They all lie and try to cover up stuff. Said my child had no episodes nor did they see any aggressive behaviors so he was ready to be discharged home. He was in there… for help with his aggression. But my son told me himself he was held down by staff and given shots that made him dizzy and sleepy. The only explanation for that would have been a behavioral issue that needed emergency tactics. Also I was never notified of this or any of the several fights he got into. When asking for his records, the majority of these days/incidents were missing(because it didn’t back their perfectly fine diagnosis and it would prove he was not ready to come home) They do not help the children. Mr Paul there even told me, “We’re just babysitting him until you come pick him up!” Not all the staff there were horrible. A few I talked to were really sweet and helpful and informative. So I appreciate all of them. But Overall I would not recommend this place to anyone! This was in the Acute stay.
so bad.
If I could give this place a -0 I would. But I went here when I was 12 years old!! I’m 18 now so it’s been a couple years!! Let me just say it was AWFUL!!!! Gosh PLEASE NEVER SEND UR FREAKING KIDS HERE!! When I was 12 I… got beat up by a 16 yr old. And they RESTRAINED ME!!! For the girls issues. I had went here because I was undergoing TERRIBLE trauma!! And they didn’t do anything!!! As a matter of fact they honestly just scared me more then helped me. It’s not a safe place AT ALL!! I ended up going back too another place 😭 because I was so traumatized by this one. They also let a 17 YR OLD hit me!! With no repercussions. It was awful. And I’m so thankful I got THE HECK OUT!! AGAIN DO NOT SEND UR LITTLE KIDS HERE!!!!!
A few months ago I was at Laurel Heights Hospital and I totally agree that this Hospital was a total disaster, especially the area of hygiene, that was a total chaos... but a week ago I returned and honestly I was quite… surprised by the change it has had regarding cleaning, I must congratulate the cleaning staff they currently have, of an exaggerated note the cleaning, it smells and looks much better than before, the bathrooms are noticeably more. clean and common areas look much better... I hope the rest also changes for the better... congratulations on the success they had with the current cleaning group!... oh! I forgot to comment that before there was not even soap and paper in the bathrooms, today there is even extra!
My son was there got here's treatment. And got to come home better.
The level of care given is poor, the conditions of the facility is beyond poor, verbal information is almost obsolete you can call for days and you're given excuse after excuses of why you couldn't speak to your child,… all the documents I received majority of the information is wrong, you can never reach a staff member, concerned about my child safety,.
I’m glad this facility was available during the time we needed the most support. The staff is always helpful and the doctors really care about the children’s well-being.
Yooooo let me tell you LHH ws one of da nicest residentials I’ve been to tha staff put alota effort into makin sure tha kids ws coo n good. Staff such as ms.o ms.ashley ms.nadaijah ms.julie ms.juju ms.bre and Mr.karl i… miss y’all n thank you fa Carin much loveee
The good: My son was happy there. He had a very good therapist that cared and was extremely knowledgeable. He almost didn’t want to come home because he made friends and felt staff was kind and caring. The Bad: was… discharged after a month which was not enough time to fix his medication or help in a lasting way. Blamed it on insurance when insurance goes by the facility recommendation. Also we were 5 hours away and we had no time to pick him up. Every week we had to be on our toes to see if he would be staying or going with a days notice. Recommendation: figure out a program with insurance to bill monthly or a discharge program that gives patients more than a day to discharge especially if they are not in the Atlanta metro.
Went here when I was 14 -15 was on unit 5, staff can be very aggressive and verbally abuse and we just weren't treated right at all, didnt even really do things to try to help us it really just felt like we were just… there to be there, also the units were filthy and they didnt supply us with soap in the bathrooms, there were also censors in the rooms that went off anything we made any movement amd staff would constantly have to come in while we were sleep to tell us to stop moving, they also had a very unstable 22 year old patient on a unit with all minors who would beat up on the minors
The staff was friendly and attentive to my daughter. She learned a lot in the group and individual therapy sessions. My only negative was we had to wait an extremely long time during the check in and check out process,… i'm guessing they were short staffed. But, I appreciate that even though we had to wait, the staff was very accommodating.
I was unit 6 and and i wanna shout of some of the staff idk if they still there but Ms Brianna, ms Natasha the therapists ms Ashley on unit 6 ms Julie on unit 6 ms Jackie Ms Shenae both of them um Ms Tamika ms April ms.… juju on unit 6 mr Shannon the 2nd shift supervisor Ms O on unit 6 Ms clay Ms diary miss nadajah ms dee on unit 2 ms Stephanie she doesn't work there anymore but she was a good staff member & ms Jordan on unit 1 and Ms Evelyn on unit 2 Ms Bernadette the teacher and mr. Brandon Ms. Barbie Ms Deborah but thankyou to all the staff who helped me with my anger and stuff
I only have good things to say about my daughter's time at LH. Thank you for caring for her so well!
