I was at this program when it first hit ground in 2000 in Stone Mountain/Clarkston Ga. Right Side Up was the best thing that happened to me. I wasn’t able to bring all 5 of my kids my 2 oldest was with my dad and Aunt.… I was able to bond with them every other weekend. Right Side Up taught me A lot about my addiction. I had been struggling with crack cocaine for 14 years, I’m so grateful for this program because I would not be who I am today and that’s Free From Drugs and Alcohol. I have not heard from anyone since I completed the program. I do hope all is well.

Hello! I’m Sasha! I’m a recovering addict. This place saved my life! I love right side up! They showed me that I deserve happiness and that I am worth living. They helped me get my daughter back and I have had her and… stayed clean for 5 years. I love the staff even though I was hard headed at first. This place showed me that I am allowed to be happy and that I can controls that! Thank you right side up! —Graduate of October 2021

If I could give 0 stars I would. Here at upside down we only are allowed to go to one meeting a week. Unless ur in job phase then ur forced to walk 4 miles to a meeting 3 times a week while working and doing classes as… well as the apartments are infested with bugs and we dont get any bug killing stuff. we don't have any dressers our oven has been broken for a month. Our microwave doesn't work. They let newborn babies scream in tcc until their redddd and get rashes from not changing there diaper The staff belittle us every day yelling at us and don't have any compassion this is supposed to be a state funded facility and they don't let you work for 2 months & they won't supply you with nessesadys. They personally won't get my medication that I NEED. They don't let you process stuff that really weighs you down. They wouldn't let me go to the hospital when i was in severe pain they kick people out over vapes. They lost my chime card as well as they have a check i earned from working over $400 check they wont return to me I do understand the term "we tear you down so you can build your self back up " but this is ridiculous. They don't know how to even do meetings. The person chairing the meetings for alumni will be the ONLY person jabbing on about the same thing every week. We only go to AA meetings and most of us are drug addicts and can't relate. I haven't seen not one person be reunited with there children they're trying to get back. Yet the staff will call dfcs and get ur kid taken from ur custody just you gotta stay they make money from us being here but yet the money isn't being used properly to maintain the living spaces were temporarily staying in and I feel like our needs aren't being met. This is just a personal opinion and my experience with the dekalb site. I'm just fed up. I think people should be able to share their truths. And not get retaliated against. So if this review causes me to get in trouble bc I'm still here since I've gotten this far and I'm almost done. It'll be worth it If I can maybe help someone else not choose to rush like I did to get into fastest available bed. Usually when you got a program that accepts you within a few weeks. It's bc people are dropping like flies and obviously it's gotta lot to do with the treatment we get here. I feel like the staff needs a IMMENSE behavior check. And need to be regularly drug tested as well because few of them are "recovering addicts" and are very much so

This place is god awful. I got kicked out with 7 weeks left. With only my second time in trouble. First one for minor accepting cash from roommate that was helping me cause I got no funds. 2nd time was deviating. But I… was striving. They lying saying I’ve been on a behavior contract. No ma’am. Definitely never had been. And I’m still being contacted about girls still there getting into 1000 times more trouble then I ever thought about. Still able to stay and get early completion and not get kicked out. And girls getting kicked out for nothing. Yall should be ashamed of yall selves. But yall pick and choose who yall wanna help. That’s not how recovery works. But thanks for what I did learn from yall in there. Cause I’m striving at home. But learn some organization skills , and fairness. Because honey, yall got some work to do. Cause yall should be shut down.

Right Side Up gave me my life back. It gave me a great foundation for my recovery and has allowed me to live my life again. I wouldn't be where I am today if I did not go through the entire 6 months and aftercare. I am… coming up on 2 years sober and I thank RSU for that!

After years in and out of rehabs and programs, Right Side Up is truly what I needed. They help me face trauma and grief. I was given time cut off from the world to solely focus on myself, and what I needed to Do in… order to heal. I’m proud to say I now have 2 1/2 years sober, I now work in the recovery field, And have gotten myself back into school. The counselors and staff here go above and beyond for your safety, Health, And teaching you how to be productive members of society while sober. The structure and care they provide is 100% what I needed for my recovery.

They are very unorganized also had to make two trips in one week up there just to get registered and also didn't get all of the belonging we came with they had been taking by the other patients without any consequences.… They should do an inventory of all things being takin in facility and another inventory going out. They don't tell u the details of important information that should be discussed before hand. I am very displeased with the whole program. It is already hard enough for drug addiction but to be even harder to get help and to be takin advantage of in thr process is sad. To think they are paid for by the tax payers. They should be ashamed of theirselves.

When I first got to RSU I would imagine my successful completion and couldn’t wait to leave. Now that day is approaching and is less than a month away. I sit here and imagine moving out of a place where my pictures are… hanging , my life is stable and my mind is feels healthy. I learned how to love myself here I learned how to cope with life here and how to be a better person & love myself properly. The thought of leaving makes me cry because while I’ve been going through it and growing , I got here by tearing my life to shreds , I’ve been given the gift of love strength, acceptance & kindness. Right side up has changed me in the best way possible & I’m so extremely & incredibly grateful for having my life back.

I came to this program voluntarily on August 30, 2022 because I have mental health and addiction problems. Before I came I was aware that they’d help with housing after you graduate the program but that is false. I… didn’t have my expectations set high but I also didn’t think I’d be so disappointed to the point where I left a month before I graduated. The mental/emotional abuse from the staff was at my breaking point. There was only a select few that I could say was there for us & actually cared about our feelings & well-being rather than just collecting a check. My experience with RM’s and counselor’s was frustrating due to the miscommunication & disorganization. I ended up having to do the RM’s or my counselor job because they’d tell me they’d get to it but it would be a week later and still nothing done. I was there for 5 months and I only had 5 counseling sessions in total. They expect you to stay on top of your sessions which I understand if your in phase 1 but by the time girls go into work phase it’s almost impossible for them to work around our schedule. I’ve been mocked, laughed at and felt very depressed being there. The director is never there to see what is going on and one specific coordinator is the rudest, coldest person I’ve ever met. They say it’s a 40% graduate rate but I’d say like 4%. Since I been there more than 10 girls have left. They also find any reason to put you on behavior contracts and I believe it has everything to do with power tripping. Once you go into work phase they treat you even worse. It’s almost like they are ready to push you out the door. They also are selective on who gets extensions, they have favorites here. Either you have to have extreme mental problems or behavioral issues in order to get an extension but they press us to be on good behavior consistently…it’s very contradicting. The staff are messy and love drama and will call us a sick community but honestly they’re the ones that need to do the self improvements. Plus racism from a specific staff member…there’s been multiple girls that came back from sessions in distress. Idk I honestly can continue the reasons not to go here except the fact it’s free and they help you get on medication. I don’t understand how this business is still running. Maybe one day they’ll re read their reason why they are there and learn to treat us like human beings rather than convicts, criminals and addicts.

I’m not in treatment however, I have a dear friend that’s currently there. Being that residents can’t have their phones I’ve contacted the facility about allowing her to check her email to print and sign a form to fax… to Dr reason being I have her baby and two daughters one of her daughters needs medical attention. The mother filled all paperwork out put me down on info but forgot to fill out and sign a sheet without that sheet the dr want see child. I haven’t heard from anyone I’ve left messages been calling for two days now. The sweet admissions lady did all she could to help. When I call all I get is I can not confirm or deny that person is here when I’m on her release of information. I’m also a substance abuse counselor and work at a residential facility I know the rules and protocol. This is ridiculous because her child’s needs medication and they want get back with me.

I read some of the previous negative posts, and I must say, the lies! I attended Right Side Up for 9 months and left there in January 2020. We have classes, meetings nearly everyday and individual counseling on a WEEKLY… basis. The staff there is not hostile, but they don't allow pity parties and woe is me attitudes. You have to actually WORK for your recovery. There were times that they made me mad, but looking back on it now, it was all for a reason! Those ladies truly care about your well being, but at the same time they are NOT going to allow you to PLAY with recovery. They are passionate about it. Since I left there, I have gained EVERYTHING I lost back and then some. I still go back to show the other women that this program works. If you TRULY want recovery, you will get it here, or anywhere else for that matter, if you TRULY want it!

Right Side Up has given me the tools to become and maintain long term Sobriety. It provides therapeutic structure. It has made me a productive member of society again. It has put my children back into my life. The only… reason one would be discharged from the program is if they fail to follow the simple rules and guidelines. It definitely receives 5 stars from me.

My daughter was apparently told she qualified for a place in their rehab programme with her daughter, however after arriving with her worldly goods packed into my car and waiting for 3 and 1/2 hours we were told that… she actually didn’t qualify. It was apparent that none of the staff actually cared a dam about our situation. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. We spent thousands of dollars prior to her acceptance on inpatient physiological evaluations which we were told were needed. These people don’t care about anything except feeling like they are in charge. STAY AWAY !!!!

It is a very hostile environment, emotional abuse from management their is no recovery here you go weeks without meetings all meetings are on site or not open to public meetings,no chance to work with a sponsor due to… these so called meetings.its just a structured environment and not a healthy one at that.Their are other non profits in Georgia due some research and take a tour because going into treatment is a very big decision and can be lifesaving if given the right treatment.
