Newport Academy – Rockville Detox and Rehab Services

Newport Academy – Rockville is listed as running residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.

The record does not show integrated provision, so confirm this if it matters. Medication-assisted treatment combines approved medication with counseling and clinical review. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

My child was here for partial inpatient and then intensive outpatient between October 2022 and Feb 2023. Pros: The staff were incredible. Young, but caring and truly excellent. They helped bring my child kindly and… gently back from the brink. They helped them build skills and step back toward normal life. It's lasted, and my child is in a vastly different place than they were a year and a half ago. Both we and our child feel deep reverence for the staff and my child remembers their time there with the deepest appreciation. Cons: We did have a protracted billing issue with them. (Just resolved, a year after my kid wrapped.) When I finally got connected with a supervisor, she was amazing and worked tirelessly to sort out the account.

This place is horrible, I would not recommend. The time schedule is horrible, The groups are supposed to teach us, They dont we sit there and listen to people talk for a whole hour.

I went through an extensive application process to get my son into Newport. After weeks of communicating with them, they rejected him because he has issues with aggression at school. This seems like a Catch 22 since I… was trying to get him into Newport BECAUSE of the behavioral problems at school. They insisted they wouldn't leave me hanging and would send me all sorts of resources to help me. They never did. I called and asked for these magical resources and, again, they assured me they would send them. They did not. Basically, keep in mind that this is a private company with their pocketbooks first in their minds.

During intake they never interviewed the patient and the person making the placement decision was a third person reviewer. They made a recommendation that is absurdly inappropriate and it has been almost a month and I… am still waiting for a call from a clinician to discuss it. This is in violation of our patient rights and I will be submitting a formal complaint with the Maryland Behavioral Health Administration. Although I have yet to speak with a clinician the non-clinical staff has been very respectful and understanding.

A great treatment center for adolscent! My son has just completed a 2-month PHP program here and returned his high school life recently. Before that, he suspended his school life for one and half year, feeling anxious,… depressing, and with no self-control each day. At first he felt unhappy to be settled in such a program, he also met many problems there time after time. But Northstar has the magic to change him, who later was reluctant to leave each day, and bid farewell to everyone the last day. He becomes more active, adjustable, and less anxious in most cases, and be hopeful to face the new school life. His primary therapist gave us the most powerful and effective guidance, who was trusted deeply by my son. She instructed him to solve each problem and learn to solve it by himself. the other staff are also quite professional, who always provided him effective instruction, great patience and warm response which made him aware, relaxed or amused. We really value the special period in Northstar, from when on my son's life will be changed dramatically.

NorthStar Academy is a FANTASTIC program! The leadership and staff are so well trained, patient and family focused, and compassionate and effective in their approaches. In addition to an impressive variety of therapy… types (art, music, pet, individual, and group), the family support (individual family therapy, group family therapy, and parent support group) is invaluable. Our family is so grateful for NSA,. They have changed our lives for the better!

I was never as suicidal as I was when I was here. A complete money grab and scam, leaving children worse off than they were before. DON'T GO HERE!
