The site is at 624 Market Avenue North in Canton, Ohio, 44702. Stark County covers this area. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. Public transport, parking and the length of the journey all affect whether someone completes a course of treatment, and they are worth settling before the first appointment rather than after.
Phone ahead about parking, access and what the first appointment covers. If getting there is hard, ask about a remote first appointment. Reception hours vary, so a call that goes unanswered once is worth repeating rather than treating as a dead end.

Phoenix Rising Behavioral – Canton Reviews and Ratings
Accreditation and licensing tell part of the story at Phoenix Rising Behavioral. Reviews from patients and their loved ones tell another part, and the two are shown on this page so they can be read together.
Went up to the front desk like 30 mins ago to ask about Coleman. She told me to go to the window. I said I'm not here for the crisis center and if I would still go for my meds she said ughh u have to go to the one on… tusc. NOT SAYING THAT ITS CLOSED AND NOT EVEN OPENED YET. like how are u going to act like I'm the stupid one and then point me to a closed building. She was rude about it to. Very much did not appreciate her tude. Because she was wrong 🙁
Checking in for an appointment and was told I had a balance. Upon asking why, I was told two of my co-pays were unpaid. I had already paid all of my co-pays. Was later told the implausible story that it was a "glitch"… and that the cash hadn't "posted". This explanation raises more questions than it answers in my opinion. How exactly does it take cash 2 and 3 weeks to post? I'm not sure this is how an ethical business operates. Luckily I had demanded cash receipts. I urge you to get a receipt if you go here, and be sure to keep all of them, and know what they are billing you for to avoid double-billing. This incident caused us to decide to end services with this organization at a time of great turmoil in our lives due to tasking us to resolve their situation and creating a complete lack of trust.
I although having only gone here for a relatively short time have had a great experience (at least with the counselor and psychiatrist I’ve dealt with) Monica and Haymaker (although she is primarily pediatric). I agree… that they seem overwhelmed and disorganized with scheduling they are wishy washy with reminder calls/texts which I see could cause trouble for people. I’ll wait to see if I have any trouble with refilling any prescriptions. however, from my experience it’s been very good. I have had family members do family counseling not involving me and that was trouble due to turnover of counselors however that was a few years ago so I cannot testify to that
Not good, takes forever to respond back and answer me back. Been going for 7 yrs and they still don’t do things right, especially billing.
Zero stars but it wouldnt allow me to do so. I've been a client with them for most of the year. They did very little to include me as a client ..never called to see if I was interested in groups or activities etc. The… CM and I would literally meet just to go over ssi/ssdi type shit. You can infer for the behind the scenes I'm sure. The reason they closed my charts because of 2 no shows. They did such a "great job" at making the client feel special. I had became homeless and they were the next agency to "offer assistance" the staff is very argumentative over the phone just because they have access to your information type of deal. They steer the conversations to make it seem like you are the issue or in the wrong just because your covering your boundaries as a client. The posters in the waiting room are very outdated, any type of counseling I've had in the past I would bring up too see if they the staff was educated in what ME the CLIENT DOES OR DOES NOT CONSENT TOO before proceeding with ANY treaties. literally have your ethics committee and legal team investigate this place. The woman said she did not know how to help me over the phone.
Don't waste your time or energy with this place. They will do you a great disservice to you, making promises to help, get you psychiatric care, case management and then don't follow through, or answer phone calls or… voicemails. I've had more panic attacks trying to get services from them than I've had help.
Terrible place. Don't go here, avoid it. Kennadi is the worst. Only cares about the money and not people. I do not recommend.
Been going to therapy for about 10 years now. This is the only place that won't put my diagnosis (ADHD) in...even tho I've had it everywhere else I've gone. Instead I have GAD, and two other disorders I think there… defiance disorders...even tho I'm a adult and those are disorders they give to children to I guess put labels on them. They have not once texted me to remind me of my appointments, pretty sure they text my dad still even tho I've changed all my paperwork after I turned 18 last year. Ms.Haymaker seems nice, but some things I don't like about her. She gave me a med that was for lowerin blood pressure because it was supposed to help me fall asleep....than I had to call off the next day... because of that med....and apparently the desk people, never told her about the voicemail that was left. I had requested a ESA paper for a dog, apparently it was picked up but I never got it. It's been a mixed experience here. I want to leave but don't know where to go.
Same issue once again. I will be 3 days without my meds again! 12 hours they knew I needed refills and they won't send it over. They don't care about you here. They have made me feel like I don't matter at all! It's not… right. The counselor in supposed to see, won't sign off on my meds and I don't know why. I'm tired of being patient and kind to people who have shown me that I mean nothing to them. I'm reporting them. Don't waste your time coming here. They only care about a check. Not their patients.
Don’t go to this place. You matter unlike this place !!!
This place is completely dysfunctional and should not represent people who are needing mental emotional help! I have had multiple appointments with "psychiatrist" that would be playing video games, one used my time to… complain all about her life problems, one that consistently wouldn't show up for appointments yet marked that I wasn't showing up. My favorite is the most recent, I paid my bill and they sent me a notification saying I didn't show up for an appointment and canceled all future appointments. I've been calling now for 12 days and still have yet to have a person answer the phone! As someone who followed their therapist here I have yet to find a psychiatrist that I can give a good review on after 8 years here!
If I could give this place a zero I definitely would!! Worst place I’ve ever taken my child to. We switched to Akron Children’s Behavioral health and couldn’t be happier!
Perfect if you want your time wasted to be dismissed or prescribed something that has nothing to do with your condition do you enjoy being gaslighted? Go here !
To simplify my experience with this facility, we can leave it at “frustrating, harmful”. Not only was I placed on a medication that caused a severe breakdown, I never asked for said medication. I trusted my… “knowledgeable” licensed doctor. Mistake number one. I had constant issues with refills. Almost every month, for a year. I’d call the office in advance. I’d wait. I’d beg my pharmacist to help. I’ve went off my medication unwillingly before, dealt with side effects, just to get back on finally. It’s been hell. I finally found a doctor for my insurance who is helping me, thankfully. That was mistake two. I had canceled an appointment due to COVID, and had to wait over A MONTH AND A HALF to reschedule. Really? And once more, had refill issues when I had covid. Mistake three, I was done. I advise all to steer clear, please. For your safety and health, there’s helpful doctors out there. Not the faux professionals at Phoenix
I got off work late on Friday and wasn't able to request a refill on my medications. All weekend I tried to get in contact with someone but couldn't. 4 days I am going without my medications and now I'm here and have… asked to speak with the nurse so that I can have my prescriptions sent to my pharmacy and not have to wait any longer and I have been here 30 minutes and not one of the check in nurses has helped me not the nurse that I asked for. They keep looking at me and laughing. I'm about to blow up
Therapy is fine but the front desk is a joke. Im a new patient and they have messed up my appointments multiple times. Hire people that aren't clueless.
I went here this evening in the midst of a mental break down and they sent the cops to my house after I decided to refuse services from them. MIND YOU, I told them I have appointments set up at a different clinic for… psychiatric care and counseling. I was approached at intake by not 1, but 2 people (this made me very uncomfortable and I explained that but they did not care) I felt targeted and threatened here. I will never be back. I know the people were in the basement and said they were supposedly seprate from phoenix. I urge you though do not come here if you're going through anything emotionally. Find somewhere else! There is a doctor on 9th st not far from Phoenix, that's where I'm going. Cannot belieeeveeeee the way I was treated here!!
Very unprofessional when scheduling. Then they scheduled a virtual visit, confirmed email where they were sending the link to join to, then proceeded to never send me an email. When called to ask what to do, they… wouldn’t answer. Do not recommend unless you want to fiddle around trying to get an appointment.
I have been here for multiple years and I have to say that I was satisfied at first, but would no longer recommend it as an ongoing patient. I originally liked it here and found medication that treated my anxiety, but… every time it is time for my refills I get a notification from my pharmacy that they have reached out to my prescriber 2-3x without an answer, so I have had to reach out as well. Quite a few times I have still gotten no response until a week later after I have run out of my meds and gone through withdrawals because of it. The work they did to find something for me was good because I have felt better, but as an ongoing patient in need of refills, I would not recommend. Eventually I had to start reaching out to a different prescriber to fulfill my refill requests.
Today I had an appointment with Jennifer spies. It was a virtual appointment. So I was on video and as I was talking it’s 8:40am my 3 year old got up. As as mom I’m going to tend to my daughter and get her some… breakfast. Jennifer got upset stating I can’t be walking around and she needs my undivided attention. I a MOTHER I can do many things while paying attention. Who are you to tell me I can’t walk around in my home and tend to my child. The moment you got on video you had an attitude. I matched your energy and then going to laugh and say oh I see you’re not very happy with me. This place is very unprofessional especially for my first visit! I will be filing a complaint further because I wasn’t even given the chance to do my appointment because I tended to my 3 year old toddler and this appointment was for one hour long! Jennifer I pray God deliver the evil from your heart. And your wicked ways
Great atmosphere and their staff is exceptional..Best place I've been compared to the many others I've been to, strongly suggest if you're looking for a place of people with great knowledge and such.
I called and left a message on their answering service last month saying I’d have to reschedule because I had flu. So then I’m accused of missing by my appointment all because they can’t check their damn messages. They… don’t relay messages to the person you are seeing. How can they run an office so poorly!
I am Angela Powell I started with central mental health, Nova behavior health the Phoenix rising. I was never told the psych label was dropped in 1997.. by Nova behavior health by David long I was never given the… paperwork from Nova back then that the psych label was dropped I had ask Phoenix rising many times for this paperwork. Cindy shapuite at Phoenix rising was a counselor at the time she could have told me 32 years ago I would have left the state of Ohio and for a security job in another state and had a life instead my life for the last 32 years has been a total nightmare or hell. The courts could have told me my mother who put me in the psych ward in Massillon state and my older sister could have told me the psych label was dropped and my mother who said I abused my daughter was dropped. Never substantiated. No instead of all the lies I lost everything in my life a security job, my daughter was put in foster care, I was put on a payee for my bills, put in disability. My daughter accused me of abusing her at the age of 7 years old it was never substantial it was dropped more happens after that thehell progressed further more in my life I am 60 years old now have nothing to show in my life.
Would not recommend this place, especially if you have a busy work schedule. Seems like all of the therapists only have early mornings appointments available and none later on in the day. You will be playing phone tag… constantly because nobody actually answers the phone here. You get sent to voicemail which means they’ll have to call you back and you’ll most likely miss the callback. Making you have to call back again and getting another voicemail to leave.
Worst place ever. They bounce you around and if u voice your opion they make you feel like your in the wrong on how you feel and they make you feel like you don't matter. I saw Dr M and was told I needed to be tested… and then was told he didn't know where I could have the test done, yet to find out he was supposed to refer me to a place and have the test done. Another person kept telling me " I an't ready to deal with it " so she kept putting my issues off, & this last person Lisa told me I was bullying people. Needless to say it was the worst experience ever and I would not send my dog to them.
