I left my interaction with Dr. Josh Boverman feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and deeply disappointed. During our conversation, Dr. Boverman made a comment that I found inappropriate and embarrassing. When he realized… how his comment had come across, he appeared to backpedal somewhat, but he never actually apologized or acknowledged that what he said was inappropriate. People seek mental-health care because they are already in vulnerable situations. Patients should not have to feel belittled, judged, or embarrassed when communicating with a mental-health provider. What bothered me most was the lack of accountability afterward. A simple, sincere apology would have gone a long way. Instead, I was left feeling as though my feelings about the interaction didn't matter. This experience has completely changed my perception of Dr. Boverman and the Center for Wellness. I no longer have the confidence or trust in either that I had before this interaction. In my eyes, they have lost the credibility they once had with me. I believe patients deserve to be treated with basic respect, dignity, and professionalism, particularly when they are in a vulnerable position and putting their trust in a healthcare provider. This interaction left a lasting negative impression on me. For me, trust is fundamental in a healthcare relationship, and once that trust and confidence are lost, they are very difficult to regain.
