Thank you so much to the staff of the WAVE for fixing my life, once again! Ms. Tiffany, Toni, Gracie, Stacy, Gwendolyn, Shawnte, Olivia, Trinity, Ryleigh, Gigi, and JJ were absolutely phenomenal. Special thanks to Ms.… Shae, Vickie, Emma, and Tara for all you've done for me. Thanks to Debbie and Gabe in the office. And especially, thank you to our lovely chef, Brooke and Megan. You will all be missed!
The Wave of Edgewater has been PHENOMENAL! From the Admissions process to my Residential Stay my experience has been supportive and Life Changing! The environment is truly structured to learn valuable coping skills, I… am discovering and exploring my CORE SELF, and developing and applying everything I've learned in a SAFE, PROFESSIONAL, and EMPOWERING way! I love the WEALTH of information I've been provided by the amazing Therapists that lead the group therapy! The Techs and Nursing staff have been amazing! The doctors have addressed my medical concerns and the Psychiatrist has been attentive to making adjustments where needed. The Holistic Provider is such an added benefit to the entire experience LAYERING a truly unique approach to Women's Health. I was ready to put in ALL the work and I am BEYOND GRATEFUL that I'm building MY foundation with such an AMAZING COMMUNITY and STAFF!
I recently completed a two month inpatient treatment program there that quite literally saved my life. The intensive therapy was exactly what I needed to get back on my feet after a serious mental health crisis. While… there, I made some great friends and bonds that will last a lifetime. The therapist are amazing and the staff is very kind. I highly recommend to any women who are struggling with all the things we go through in life to reach out and let them help you get the weight of the world off your shoulders. This facility is a rare gem as there are no other (that I know of) Trauma informed WOMEN'S ONLY treatment centers in Florida. There are two sister facilities, The Wave Clearwater and The Wave Edgewater. Each one is uniquely different. The Edgewater facility is comfortable and homey with plenty of charm but the "old house" definitely needs some TLC. They are definitely working on it, but it's worth a mention- That said I would still highly recommend The Wave for all the amazing therapeutic modalities it offers.
My time at The Wave was such a regulating experience. I wish I could have stayed for a year. I am grateful for the amazing staff and their dedication to the clients' wellbeing. Gwendolyn is a wonderful therapist. I also… really enjoyed Raisa's groups.
I was nervous about coming here but it turned out to be exactly what I needed. The team at The Wave is incredible. They make you feel safe, respected, and supported every step of the way. The therapists are great at… helping you dig deep without feeling overwhelmed. I'll always be thankful for the time I spent there and for the people who helped me believe in myself again.
Amazing experience. The staff care deeply and it shows. I left feeling stronger and more confident in myself.
I can't even put into words how grateful I am for my time at The Wave. From the first phone call, I knew it was the right place. The admissions team was kind, patient, and helped me figure out everything I needed to… start. When I arrived, the staff made me feel calm and welcomed right away. The therapists here are incredible. They combine things like CBT, DBT, yoga, and holistic therapy in a way that actually works. It's not just talking, it's real healing for your mind and body. Every group had meaning, and every day felt like a step forward. The facility is peaceful and clean. It's a safe space where you can finally slow down and focus on getting better. The other clients were so supportive too, and I made friendships that still mean a lot to me. Leaving wasn't easy, but I walked out feeling proud of myself for the first time in a long time. The Wave truly gave me a second chance at life.
This place gave me my life back. The therapists are incredible and really care about helping you grow. The staff are kind, down to earth, and always willing to listen. The mix of therapy, mindfulness, and holistic work… made a huge difference for me. It's not easy work, but it's real healing. I'll always be thankful for what they did for me...
When I first came to The Wave of Edgewater, I was terrified. I didn’t know what to expect, and honestly, I didn’t even know if I wanted to be there. From the very first day, the staff made me feel safe. They didn’t… treat me like a number, they treated me like a human being who mattered. You can tell they love what they do because it shows in every single interaction. The therapy here is life changing. Every session had a purpose. They combine structure with genuine care and it makes such a difference. The therapists are incredible, and they somehow know when to push you and when to just let you breathe. The support staff are amazing too. They’re kind, funny, and always there when you need someone to talk to.I didn’t expect to find a community here, but I did. The women I met helped me open up in ways I didn’t think were possible. The group sessions helped me see that I wasn’t alone in what I was going through. The Wave gave me back hope. I walked in scared and broken, and now I’m walking out stronger and proud of how far I’ve come.If you’re scared or unsure, I get it. I was there too. But please take the step. It really can change your life.
Clean facilities, professional staff and very calm vibe throughout. Highly recommend!
I came to The Wave at Edgewater during one of the hardest chapters of my life, I didn’t have the strength to keep going. From the very first call with the admissions team, I felt a spark of hope. They spoke to me with… such warmth, understanding, and reassurance that I found the courage to take this step. They didn’t just help me through the logistics—they assured me that things could and would get better. The compassion, care, and dedication of the staff made me feel safe, understood, and truly seen. They put their whole heart into supporting you, encouraging you, and helping you see your own strength. I especially want to express my deep gratitude to my personal therapist, Leah. Her insight, patience, and unwavering belief in me have been life-changing. The other therapists, Gwendolyn and Tara, as well as the holistic practitioner, Raisa are equally amazing—each bringing their own unique expertise, compassion, and dedication to every class. Yoga with Nouel is incredibly healing. The dietician Jill is informative and supportive. I really appreciated and valued the combination of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and holistic practices. The blend creates a healing environment that addresses both the mind and the heart. Group therapy has been incredibly validating and being surrounded by women who get it is healing in and of itself. Shout out to Kelly, your peer support has been so very encouraging and empowering. I can say without hesitation that The Wave at Edgewater is saving my life. They have given me tools, hope, and a renewed belief in myself when I thought I had none left. I will be forever grateful for the support I’ve found here.
I was nervous going into inpatient care,as I have never been in one before but Debbie on the phone was like speaking with your best friend and helped answer all of my questions about coming to The Wave at Edgewater.… Choosing this facility was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From day one, the staff made me feel safe, heard, and supported. Kelly, Lauren, Nancy,Laura and Linda are the nicest, most down to earth and caring support staff you’ll ever meet. They understand mental health on a deep, clinical and human level—nothing felt generic or rushed. They take their time with you and sincerely care. The therapy programs are exceptional. Every session was led by experienced therapists who created a safe, structured space to work through some of the most difficult moments of my life. I appreciated how the team blended evidence-based approaches like DBT, CBT, Holistic Health and mindfulness with a truly compassionate approach. They didn’t just treat symptoms—they helped me understand the root of my pain was and how to move forward. The inpatient environment was calm, tidy, and therapeutic. There was structure, but also flexibility to reflect, rest, and build coping skills at my own pace. Group therapy was incredibly validating, and you learned that your not alone. Having peers beside you when you open up is the best feeling. My one-on-one sessions with Leah helped me in more ways than I could have ever thought. She pushed me just enough while respecting my limits. She’s hands down the best therapist I have ever seen. This place also gave me tools I didn’t know I needed and reminded me I’m not broken—I’m healing. If you know of or if someone you love is struggling with mental health I highly recommend The Wave at Edgewater. They saved my life, and I’ll always be grateful.
This place has saved my life. The staff here really go above and beyond. They truly do care about the clients. The therapists are some of the best I've ever seen and are so compassionate and caring. Shout out to Tera,… Leah, Gwendolyn and Jenna!!!! I love you all and thank you so much for playing such a significant role in my journey. Also, Kristin and Debbie in admissions will work with you and have been extremely patient with my stubbornness and procrastination before I made it in. If you are struggling with your mental health, this is definitely the place to go. Plus the view across the street is so serene and calming!
From day one, I felt genuinely cared for. Not just as a patient, but as a whole person. Gwendolyn and Kelly are truly amazing human beings. But all of the therapists are spectacular! Their compassion, strength, and… kindness radiate in everything they do. They treat you with dignity, listen with empathy, and never make you feel like just another number. The entire staff deserves so much credit. Every single person is deeply committed to the healing and success of each individual who walks through the door. It’s clear that they care about your growth, your story, and your future. The staff here shows up every day with love and professionalism. If you or someone you love is looking for a place that blends clinical excellence with heart, this is it. I’m forever thankful for the life-changing support I received at The Wave. They are saving my life.
Being in my last week of the residential program, I thought it a good time to leave a review. The Wave is phenomenal, the staff/techs go out of their way to interact and help patients. It is an all women, mental health… only ( not recovery) and is a wonderful program between IFS, CBT, Art therapy, holistic medicine (TCM) yoga, breath work etc your day is full of programming. The facility itself is a dated but it is clean and they are willing to address immediately any problems you may have. Special kudos to Lauren, Kelly and Ani who all have been amazing to me during my stay. I’ve made huge progress and met some amazing women in the way. If you’re on the fence, come on in, you’ll be glad you did. It is not club med but it’s a place of health and healing. Thank you The Wave :)
2 stars is being generous. Let’s start out with the positive. Raisa’s classes were amazing and very helpful! Gwen was an AMAZING therapist and I loved her groups as well, they were tough but really got down to what is… wrong! Kelly, Lauren, Toni, Dawn absolutely amazing staff!! I got a lot out of most of the groups; however I couldn’t finish my time there due to all of the other issues this place has. The cleanliness of this place is a 0 out of 10. Bug infested, carpets stained, chairs stained, food on the floor, just gross!! The building is infested with what looks like termites, some breed of cockroaches crawling in our rooms and eating area. The food, I hope you like chicken and rice every single day!!! Most of us there spent hundreds of extra dollars on groceries because the food was that bad and we still lost weight!!! The food from dinner (served at 6pm) would still be sitting out between 10pm-12:30am, then put in the refrigerator for us to eat the next couple days!!!! They allowed bullying amongst peers, the staff other than Gwendolyn had no worry about sitting back and allowing it to happen. We were left on our own after 3:30pm with nothing to do; that made our mental health better…. The so called activities that they talk about on admission, no such thing! I had to contact upper management to allow us to swim even though swimming was in part of the planned activities! This place honestly gave me some good tools, but I left with added trauma, was not worth it!
I arrived in a state of complete hopelessness and left with a renewed vigor for life and all it has to offer. The therapists and staff are extremely supportive, knowledgeable, and focused on the wellbeing of their… clients. I was able to address my PTSD, depression, and anxiety in a way I never thought possible. My childhood trauma had been causing negative patterns and cycles in my life that I now have the tools to end, so that I can live a happier and healthier life. I wrote a poem at the end of my residential stay that I’d like to share here because it summarizes my experience at the Wave. If you need help, the Wave is the place to go. Here is my poem: The Dove by Heidi Demers There was a girl with many wounds that thought she’d never fly. Abused, controlled, bullied, overwhelmed with unheard cries. Her wounds were her shadow holding her feet to the ground. She tried to make it go away, tried getting it unwound. She tried to hide her shadow from everyone she knew. She hid behind a smile not knowing what to do. She kept trudging forward, the shadow crawling towards her face filling her mind with hopelessness, guilt, and disgrace. “Everyone controls me. My life is not my own. Just do what others want. Just do what you are told. There is no hope of being free. No one sees or hears your pain. No one cares about you. Never will you gain. They might not know the hurt they cause, but hurt you just the same. It’s just too much, I cannot bear the torture in my brain. I am never good enough. Undeserving of love and care. I don’t deserve stability or to think things could be fair.” The shadow then consumed her head drowning her in fear. The smile she wore upon her face began to disappear. Her eyes no longer twinkled in that hopeful way. Sucked into a pit of hopelessness without the light of day. Down deep into the torture of never ending pain, To the depths of sadness where she’d surely go insane. Those that loved her noticed, finding a safe place she could go. A place she could get better, a place where she could grow. She went there weary and hopeless, pain heavy on her soul. Once there she crumbled broken, sharing truths never told. Medicine to help her mind, too sad and anxious to think. Surrounded by wonderful women also on the brink. Together in group sessions, they shared the contents of their hearts. Not hiding anything, not even the darkest parts. She learned her shadow was trauma and nothing that she did. It wasn’t her fault, she was just a kid. She met with her therapist, spending time one on one, Pulling back the clouds of shame so she could see the sun. This place taught her of self compassion, self love, and self care How to challenge negative thoughts and cycles of despair. She learned of self acceptance, understanding, faith, and trust. She aligned and balanced her chakras upon the earth’s crust. She welcomed God into her heart, and accepted her shadow. Breathed in all the positive, letting the negative go. She began to rewrite the narrative that lingered in her head, The channels of negative thought, themes of consciousness to end. “No one can control me. I respect myself. I take pride in my behavior. I care about my health. I will not accept less. I know what I must do. I have found my voice. I know my needs. To myself I will be true. Accepting help, having faith, I know I will break free. I matter. I need boundaries. And of love, I am worthy.” And with that, her shadow receded to her toes with the sun above. She no longer hatred her shadow, smiling upon it now with love. She spread her wings and soared above, so high above the earth Her shadow proof she lived a life, now knowing what she’s worth. With each breath brings enlightenment, happiness, and love. From the shadow of the raven to the glory of the dove. 🩷
I'm writing this as a family member What started out as a nice stay at the wave, the water is healing and my family member needed this healing. But. It’s hard to heal when you have staff that’s sleeping at night every… night and can’t help you. Cooking chicken everyday but I must say the chefs are great. Every concern they have the RTF is never there and behaves like she does not care anything about the clients at all. Toni is always yelling at everyone. In a community like that they used to have individual snacks but personal size items were available now and clients have been witnessed sticking hands into the large cereal containers and eating peanut butter with a spoon in the large jar and drinking juices mouth to bottle. This is not sanitary. Mae, Patricia, Susan, Karen and Mark are the best thing to happen to that place, along side the therapist are great.
The wave of Edgewater FL is FULL of caring, genuine , supportive staff across the board. From the kitchen staff to all therapists , nurses, group runners & technicians. I personally have no negative experiences with the… wave of Edgewater. The food is delicious and diverse, catering to your own health need more than not. The location & building is calming on the water, home like. Stacy is an excellent therapist, she is very smart and empathetic, caring & has great effective approaches to teaching therapy skills & running groups. All the other therapists are also very smart, approachable, professional , kind and unique. I learned a lot from every single group I stayed in and paid attention to. The wave has sincerely changed my life. They form supportive relationships with you that help you on your healing journey and they all provide a safe space to talk in groups. The wave of Edgewater really cares about your mental health and well being. No place is perfect but I’d say this is the best place I’ve ever been to receive mental health treatment. The therapy offered is 10/10. Food is 9/10 environment 10/10 , outings & amenities like massage, spa nails & hair, facials 10/10. The building is a little old but I didn’t mind at all. The intake and discharge process is 8/10. Make sure you have your aftercare plan before leaving. If you’re looking to heal from trauma, learn coping skills for mental health and heal yourself & better your life this is a wonderful place to go.
The Wave of Edgewater completely changed my life for the better. I highly recommend it for anyone who is struggling. I loved all the staff and had an incredible experience during my 30 days there. I went from shattered… to strong and from hurting to healed. My family and friends have commented on the change they see within me since leaving The Wave and often tell me that “I’m like a new person”. The Wave made me realize that I DO have worth and that I DO matter. I want to personally thank the following people: Nouel: Thank you for making me feel so welcome when I first arrived. I was so scared upon my arrival but you made me feel safe and secure. Patricia- Thank you for always being so kind and loving. Thank you for making me feel so special. I truly appreciate you and all you did for me! Marc- Thank you for always cooking me the best Gluten Free meals and making sure I had what I needed as someone with Celiac Disease. Sara- Thank you for helping me through my trauma and for helping me see myself as worthy and enough. Stacy- Thank you for giving me permission to feel ALL my feelings and for helping me work through some hard and heavy things. Jane- Thank you for being so genuine and sweet. Thank you for caring so deeply. Leah- Thank you for being my primary therapist and for helping me go from shame to grace. I’m no longer ashamed of my story as I know it has the power to help others. Jill- Thank you for your encouragement and always being there to listen. I’m sure there’s some people I’m forgetting and for that, I apologize. Please know if our paths crossed during my time at the Wave, I’m so appreciative and grateful. I will be going back to school to get my LCSW later this year. I pray I can help others like you all have helped me. I can’t say enough good things about The Wave!
the wave completely changed my life. I came in for severe panic and anxiety and the therapy and care was exactly what i needed. it was amazing. im so so so grateful that i came here and found the help i needed. patricia… and marck were absolute angels and attended to my every request and made it feel like home. leah, jenn, toni, q, ari, and everybody else was so so good to me and i wouldn’t change anything about my experience at all.
Justine and Patricia were great!!!!!!they always took me serious and made sure I was ok and had everything:)
I began Treatment at The Wave about six weeks ago. I showed up broken and scared. When I got to the door, Patricia a daytime tech who I refer to as my Angel. She welcomed me with such kind love and compassion and I knew… I was in the right place. I felt so alone going in that day and she made me feel love, something I had not felt in a minute. Patricia was a determining factor when I did a walk through before entering the program. Michael was also a wonderful tech. This 25 year old young man has put his on life on hold working two jobs while raising and supporting his 7 year old brother and by telling you this you should know what an amazing human being he is. Always there for everyone who is in need. Marck he is the chef and I enjoy trying all his recipes. You see him from time to time and he also shows nothing but love and kindness to the clients. Jenn who works at night is also amazing. She makes sure the house stays top notch clean. She also keeps all snacks stocked. She is always there to assist the clients. Jodie has one of the biggest hearts for truly helping people. You’re truly lucky when you get one on one with her. Sirena is an amazing therapist.I love how she shows so much love, patience and compassion to all the clients. She gives wonderful advice and she really cares for her clients. Jill who is the nutritionist is also amazing. She always put off great vibes. You don’t see Kristen too much but she is another amazing human being who makes sure you get what you need mostly behind the scenes. Mataldia one of the weekend tech’s is the most precious soul you will ever meet. I’m sorry I know I’m leaving names off that need to be included. There are more wonderful staff there that show you that you’re not just a paycheck to them. We all have issues but these people leave whatever they have going on in their lives at the door or at home idk but you know it. They love what they are doing because they genuinely love and care for people. The center is not 100 % perfect there are some staff who need some training in being kind and compassionate for others. if you’re considering this place and all these people are still employed there I would would make a call if you need help. This truly is an amazing place and if you’re dealing with depression, anxiety or other mental health issues this is a great place to be. I see applying the tools to my life they have given me is working for me. I’m not 100% and still in the program but I know I’m in the best place for me. I’ve enjoyed my journey this far and all the lifelong friends I’ve met along the way. Make that call!!! The daily views were also amazing.
