What Should I Ask My Current Insurer at Each Level of Care?

Ask the same four questions at every level: is the benefit covered, is authorization required before admission, is the program in network for this specific product, and what is the member share once the deductible is counted. The answers come from the current carrier, not from anything Assurant published.

Medical Detox

Withdrawal management is the first rung where physical dependence is established, and medical detox is usually authorized as an inpatient or residential service. Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal can produce seizures, and acute withdrawal belongs in an emergency department regardless of which insurer is listed. Residential and Inpatient
