Thank you to everyone involved in my eye surgery today pre-op post-op very professional long day well worth it really appreciate the VA for everything they do for me, another successful eye surgery so far a long day for… all especially the staff or should I say understaffed office thanks very much for everything very kind and caring
First of all I don’t go to this VA hospital, I go to the STL VA, but I reached out through FB messaging and the Public Affairs Officer, Jeff Hoelscher was such an incredible help. I really, really needed that especially… today!!! He went above and beyond!! Thank you so much!!
Gets worse all the time.. They have failed to keep phone appointments twice lately.
The care here is superb. I really have not had any crazy issues with the VA. People treat me good and take my health seriously. Thank you Dr. Teater in the red team. She has helped me with my LDL.
The pharmacy does not seem to care about the veterans. Insulting and seem to purposefully waste people's time. I was told my medication was ready for pickup. I went to pick up with family waiting in car. VA says 10-20… minutes. It's been over an hour and they're still correcting their count... for 28 pills.
Harry S. Truman VA Hospital is one of the best hospitals in the entire region. I have experienced it both as a volunteer and as a patient, and in both roles I was impressed by the level of care and professionalism.… Veterans are treated with kindness, respect, and dignity, and patient privacy is taken very seriously. The DAV department is especially wonderful to work with helpful, compassionate, and dedicated to supporting veterans. I recommend this hospital to any veteran seeking quality care and support.
Wonderful hospital, great staff. World-class care.
Simply one of the best hospitals period.

I’d never used the VA until recently, because in all honesty, I still was hung up on their 30 year old reputation of being very subpar. But recent events led me there and I can honestly say it’s been the best care I’ve… ever experienced in my like. The doctors listen, physical therapists are phenomenal, appointments and communication are absolutely immediate and perfect. I’ve been quickly referred to specialists that I did not know existed and I actually feel “hope.” Simply amazing and truly a gift I never knew was available.
Ok my mother n law was inpatient in January they sent uber to bring her home 2 hours she had dropped her phone in uber getting out of car he turned iphone brand new ! to VA police Locked it up and it was Stolen we drove… down to get the iPhone It wasn't still Locked up someone has stolen it why they can't keep somthing safe IT'S A GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL now she has tryed to get reimbursed for phone now almost 3 months we drove monday to turn in claims forms to get her paid out .It's been 5 days they was supposed to make direct Deposit shame on the VA letting people steal a veteran's iphone that cost over 1,000 she is 80 years old stop Stressing her out dragging this issue out someone needs Fired for Stealing It was Locked up with VA police we went to Columbia again today for Dr appointment its been 3 weeks now she should of had her direct deposit why are you treating a 80 year old veteran like this her blood pressure has been very high because of this Stress brand new iphone pro she is out pictures and all of her contacts it's a shame Vanessa H in quilty control she needs better customer service training
This is the most unorganized organization ive ever been. I was told to comw back to the eye clinic at 1330. Time for the appointment and how convenient...I was never put on the list like I was told. This type of shit… happens WAY to often
Too few who actually care for veterans at this facility. I have contacted the patient advocacies and I get an answering machine which leads to no follow up call. If only you cared about veterans as much as one star… reviews….
I attend the Jefferson City VA clinic, but I often work with Columbia VA people over the phone and I consistently have helpful, polite, and straightforward/plain language interactions with the folks on the other end of… the phone. 10/10! Truly lovely staff :-)
Wow.. Just wow. I had what I thought to be a severe issue and drove past 2 other ERs to columbia VA. I talked with the triage nurse via phone and upon arrival I was admitted with blood work done and an Xray within 20… minutes. They ordered a cat scan too with in the hour .The 1.5 hr drive was worth it. The staff was great, friendly and transparent. Love our VA team ❤️
This is probably a waste of time because no one cares, even when you say your call is very important to us. I certainly did not feel the way this paste week Thursday- I have been in a lot of pain lately do I called the… care line spoke to a nurse and she sent me to a urgent center in Laurie Mo to be seen, only to be turned away Couldn’t make an appointment with my Dr because there is no Dr available in Camdenton Mo VA Friday - called the care line again she wanted me to have a scan and drive 2 hrs away to Columbia in pain to have a scan Why? Why can’t you order a scan locally it’s been done before multiple times, she put the order in for the scan and said scheduling would be giving me a call No call Friday, Saturday or Sunday wait til 11 am still no call, so I call VA Columbia and after several transfers and on hold fir 45 min actually 47 mins I still got nowhere Then another lady came on the line said she would send this over to community care and they will call me STILL NO CALL And you care about my call? Really
Great service....
We have yet to come across anyone who has not gone above and beyond. Everyone is always smiling and cheerful. It is always difficult when a loved one is in pain and possibly dying. Their smiles are always helpful.
I have full benefits here and am going to end up paying out of pocket because I can't trust the va to keep a dr i fired from accessing my patient chart. I get told 2 different things which gets me confused and agitated… and I'm already on psych meds. I don't understand why a fired dr needs to still be in on my care. Can't even get a patient care advocate on the phone and have to leave a message so they can just ignore it. I don't know what i did to these people in the red and white care teams but I'm sorry. Update va is still trash. They refused to let me find another dr out of the va so I guess I legit am funding myself so that's great. Also the patient advocate manager called and told me i was a lier and that everything is said is not true so I guess they investigated themselves and are good to go
Great friendly facility
Had a total hip replacement surgery on September 22, Dr Miles and his team were top notch. I can't thank him and his team enough, my pain went from off the charts to 0. These people are the best!!!!!
I've recently visited this facility on multiple occasions. During my most recent visit, I was greeted and checked in for my appointments (one in Audiology and one in ENT). As I was sitting in the waiting areas and… listening as people were coming and going, I became aware of just how pleasant and welcoming the staff were. All you typically hear about VA facilities is how long it takes to get an appointment and how poor the care is. Neither have been my experience. The wait times for appointments is on par or better than other healthcare facilities that I've visited. The care is what has impressed me even more than the friendly staff. In this insurance-driven healthcare environment, I've become accustomed to receiving care that the doctors feel they can get the insurance companies to cover. At the VA, I feel like the care is truly driven by what the doctors feel is best, and less about what will be covered by insurance. This is how healthcare is supposed to work!
Used this VA hospital for a hearing test. My first visit at this facility. I was very impressed and Cynthia, the tech that conducted the hearing test was outstanding! She made me feel very comfortable and was very kind.… When she does hang her shingle as an audio doctor I would not hesitate to be in her care.
I have been using the Truman VA hospital for 25 years. My most recent visit was the best yet. I was admitted to the VA hospital from the ER due to running a fever after a procedure. The ER was great in itself. I spent a… week in the hospital with some very friendly and professional staff that kept me informed in 3 surgery room B314. One nurse stood out and made an uncomfortable situation exceptionally tolerable. Her name was Danie and I sincerely appreciate her above and beyond care. I wish I could have her as a nurse if I ever get admitted again. She's awesome!
