I am writing to formally dispute a $300 outstanding balance from Congruent Counseling Services, LLC that has recently appeared on my credit report. On February 27, 2024, I completed a virtual intake recommendation with… Nikki Parris. At that time, I was explicitly told that this service, as well as any subsequent recommendations, would be fully covered by my insurance. Based on this assurance, I provided my insurance information and proceeded with the session. I ultimately discontinued services because I found the counseling and recommendations provided by Nikki Parris to be subpar. I was never informed of any out-of-pocket fees prior to the service being rendered. Discovering this debt in collections two years later—particularly while I am in the process of buying a home—is egregious and unfair. I feel I was misled regarding the coverage of these services. I request that this charge be reviewed and removed from my account and that the collection agency be notified that this debt is disputed and should be cleared from my credit report. This facility is incredibly misleading. They promise individualized care, real therapy, and a supportive environment to get you or your loved one through the door—but once the intake process is complete, the reality… changes. Your information is entered into a software system that generates generic recommendations, with little to no consideration for important factors not captured during intake. In my case, being sober for over 1.5 years and not being court-ordered were completely disregarded. Despite this, I was told I needed to attend twice a week for six months—an approach that felt arbitrary and excessive. The staff is largely unresponsive, and it’s apparent that the primary goal is to bill your insurance or take your money, rather than offer meaningful support or recovery. If they claim they can create a customized treatment plan, get it in writing before the intake—otherwise, you may end up like me, out $200 with nothing to show for it. I regret trusting this place. Please do your research and consider other options before committing.

I worked with the therapist, Rosie Young. She was very helpful, professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable regarding mental health-related issues. She provided me with several resources and suggestions to assist… with my treatment. If you're looking for a wonderful therapist, I recommend seeing Rosie Young.

Shame on this place! They tell you it’s no problem to move an appointment (because God forbid life happens) and then sneak in a $75 charge that they didn’t even warn you about when you reschedule. Clearly they don’t… care about mental health just the almighty dollar.

Excellent counseling experience. Though finding a counselor can often be a lengthy process, Congruent Counseling scheduled me within two weeks of reaching out to them. Jessica Salvino was an incredibly knowledgeable,… attentive provider who made each session informative while simultaneously creating a comfortable space to talk freely. She shared insightful strategies and tools to manage one's self that have made a significant difference, and can continue to be applied moving forward. Very highly recommend.

I see many of these reviews are about how a specific therapist couldn’t help when these people are most likely not putting the work in themselves. Therapy can’t solve all of your problems immediately without you having… to lift a finger. These complaints about the money, well if you show up to your appointments and you call ahead of time if you can’t come you shouldn’t have these problems so it seems like it’s their own fault. Maybe there wouldn’t be all the confusion about the billing if people would show up to their scheduled appointments. My experience was great. I had interactions with many different staff members, none of them were rude as these other people claim they were. I had Shannon Garrett as a therapist. He was amazing at what he does and he helped me in many ways. Bridgett Pieroni was my psychiatrist who was very polite and kind throughout our sessions. I was also in the IOP group for many months and there was many different staff members throughout my sessions and each one was very helpful. I’m not sure of the last name but Sarah ran the IOP group and she was very kind and patient. These people writing the bad reviews are most likely not taking into consideration what therapy is actually supposed to do for someone. It’s not gonna cure you fully and immediately. Especially without you having to do anything and although money may be tight, your mental health and other issues should come first so i don’t see complaints about billing to be fair since these reviews have nothing to do with therapists themselves and are most likely scaring away people from getting the help they need.

Met with Mary Wilkins but won't be returning. She is hard of hearing and missed a lot of what I said. She asked me questions that made me repeat myself and showed she hadn't heard or wasn't listening to what I said.

I'm not sure who Odin is ... but I know Victoria - I was actually the one who spoke on the phone with several rude staff members who told me and my wife false information. There is a difference between a state law and a… "company policy". Please retrain your staff. I found over 1.7k backlinks and directory listing for congruent counseling's website. I will make sure the other parents and listings are of aware of our family's interactions with Congruent Counseling Services - especially when Mental Health is taken as a joke.

This is rough ..... They lie to you about State Laws and turn you away for needing help. How can a counseling office make the stigma worse regarding mental health?

Don't hire Mary wilbanks therapist from this counseling service. She is one of the wrost therapist who can ruin your family life. You can't trust this person.

I received exceptional therapeutic support from Mike Derry at Congruent Counseling Services. Mike helped me put my life in perspective, gave me many new tools, and offered consistent and readily available support during… very challenging times for me. I'll always be grateful.

I have seen two different therapists at this office. I also see the Nurse Practitioner. All were wonderful and very skilled. My first therapist left to start her own practice and no longer accepted my insurance. I… called the office to see about switching providers and I only had to wait about three weeks to be seen. I was given two different options of therapists and was able to select the one that I preferred. I think the success of therapy is really dependent on the relationship you have with the therapist and overall I have had good experiences with the therapists. All of the front desk staff I have interacted with have been professional and helpful.

I have referred many clients to Congruent over the years for a variety of services. As a therapist myself, I trust this program to do great work.

TL;DR Terrible backdoor billing system leaves you in the dark about charges and account standing This is a review of their billing services and not of the actual health service provided. My therapist has been good so… far but I have to cancel and find a different provider due to their complicated and unintuitive billing system. They send a bill that I can only view once so if I open the link by accident it's gone. Subsequent bills contain some previous charges, but without access to past billing statements I have no idea what is new or existing, and what is past due. To this day I don't know what my account standing is since I haven't received a billing notice from them in a while. I would like see what my charges are and pay for them, but their system expects you to pay an arbitrary amount without providing an actual balance, or timeline/history of billing services to keep track of.

Very professional wonderful staff, we had a very wonderful counselor Katie Downes. The DBT program was very successful in creating a less frightened less angry person with good coping skills . My hats off to you all!… Mark Donovan you are a creative caring man but you have to change the wall paint : )

The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because they managed to fix an issue they created without charging me further. I had two appointments with Congruent: one with Meghan, a therapist, on 9/22 and another… with a med manager, Ms. Peroni, on 9/24. Meghan was flustered and more or less unprepared for the appointment, including putting me on hold for over 10 minutes so that she could, I assume, hand type out a safety promise, given my suicidal state. I'm not sure why she didn't have this on hand immediately; I'd think that's something a therapist would have ready and available for any serious situation. However, on 9/24, Ms. Peroni never showed for my 1pm appointment; I called the office at 1:09 and left a voicemail (as no one in this office seems capable of ever answering the phone) in regards to where my doctor was. I received no call back from the office at all. Period. Yet I get a bill yesterday charging me with the 9/24 missed appointment. I sent Kathy an email, making it very clear that I wouldn't be paying for an appointment in which I was present, prepared, and waiting for and the doctor was a no show. Thankfully, I had my call history for the day with Congruent; I added a screenshot of my call to the office with no reply. I can't recommend this place. I waited a week to hear back as to why Peroni never showed for my appointment, and never heard anything except that I supposedly owed them money. Don't bother; they never pick up the phone there and communication is non-existant.

Very cooperative, very supportive, Aaron Brager. I can’t say enough good things about Aaron Brager, and the establishment as a whole. I called Congruent Counseling seeking services and though they accept my insurance (Tricare) I was turned away and offered no alternatives because I was told the few providers who accept my insurance are “too booked”.

Rachel Rentch in the Eldersburg office has helped me tremendously. She is compassionate, encouraging and warm. Rachel is a treasure trove of knowledge about trauma and how to move through it. I have and will continue to… recommend her to anyone who is in pain and looking to make a change for themselves. Rachel is a gem.

I started therapy with Michael Derry over a year and a half ago. I met with him every week for over a whole year. He was always very attentive and genuinely seemed interested with me and my issues. He really helped me… through some really strong OCD obsessive thoughts and walked me through some real hard times in my life. He also played a big role in my recovery from substance abuse and helped me find the Al-Anon recovery groups for other issues in my life. I contribute a big part of my mental health recovery to the tactics and tools Mike thought me over the years. His goal was to not only talk through my issues but develop a good tool kit for me to use so I could continue to recover. I owe a big deal of kudos to Mike and how he helped me start living a life of purpose and meaning. I would and have recommended Congruent and Mike himself to some of my friends as well. Overall I had a great experience with Mike and Congruent and know that they are there for me if I do need more support over the years!

I'm not sure where these negative reviews are from, but they could not be farther from what I have experienced. After years and more therapists than I can count, I met Mark Donovan and have seen him for 12 years. He's… great and CBT has changed my life for the better. Highly recommend him.

An excellent, comfortable environment to seek help. Front Desk staff are friendly and organized when it comes to billing and scheduling/rescheduling appointments. After seeing Therapists throughout the years constantly… suffering from the same issues, Congruent's counselors were fantastic in understanding my individual needs to provide the necessary support and are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure I stay on the right path towards success and continue to grow! Congruent Counseling has gotten me to a point where I can look back a few years and see how far I have grown with their support and services. Thanks so much Congruent!!!

This place is AWFUL, especially Erin Fitzgerald. Not a safe place for people of color! Very unprofessional, unethical, inappropriate, and destructive services. Because of Erin’s negligence & disregard for human life I… have been left on my own and placed even further at risk. ERIN seems to not care about people at all and completely oblivious to the fact that the people she serves are hurting and vulnerable. I came in needing to talk about my bad weekend and day and out of nowhere, I was told it was the end. After SHE told me we were going to work on things together and after SHE began a new treatment plan that had only been in place a week without even giving it any time to see if it could help, at a time when I needed help the most and a safe place where I could let everything out rather then give up, I am thrown out and reduced to nothing. The epitome of white PRIVILEGE. Walked in hoping things could get better, walked out in tears, feeling absolutely HOPELESS & convinced it is all over. These people couldn't care less if you live or die & they deserve ZERO stars for what they have done. Never trusting these services again! Go here if you want someone to make your mental health worse and kick you when you’re already down. If you want to stay alive, go somewhere else.

Not effective at all. Counterproductive and destructive even. Katie Downes set us back as a family unit, and years of therapy accomplished absolutely nothing in the home.
