Mirmont Outpatient Center – Broomall Detox and Rehab Services

Mirmont Outpatient Center – Broomall is listed as running intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.

The record does not show integrated provision, so confirm this if it matters. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Ask what a typical week involves before committing, since the schedule determines whether the program is workable alongside work or family.

I've been coming here for about three years, and the three stars are really for the therapists. Unfortunately, almost everything else about this place has been disappointing—especially the management and front desk… staff. With the exception of one blonde receptionist, the front desk staff have consistently been rude, dismissive, and often won't even make eye contact. At a mental health facility, you'd expect people to be a little more welcoming and compassionate. The psychiatrists were okay, but I eventually found an outside provider who has been so much more helpful. The PHP therapists were great, and especially the IOP therapists. The biggest problem, though, was the constant turnover. My IOP therapist, who was amazing, left. Our PHP therapists were constantly changing. Then, in the middle of my treatment, my new IOP therapist was suddenly gone too. Every time I felt like I was making real progress and building trust with someone, they would leave. When I tried to talk to management about my concerns, I was met with someone who was loud, abrupt, dismissive, and honestly just rude. I don't understand how people working in a mental health facility can come across as so cold. I later found out there was a dual-diagnosis trauma group that I was really interested in. I was excited because it sounded like it actually addressed the deeper issues instead of just teaching coping skills. But I got mixed messages about whether I'd be able to join, and in the end I was told I'd be placed in a different group instead. It didn't feel like that decision was based on my needs as much as it was based on the facility needing to fill groups, which was really disappointing. Overall, the therapists I worked with were compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. The problem is that they never seem to stay. Between the constant staff turnover, poor communication, disorganization, and management issues, it was hard to get consistent care. It's a shame because there are some really great therapists here, but the way the facility is run makes it much harder for them—and for the patients—to succeed.

The nurse practitioner here, Ronit Sharma, should not have a license to practice in any healthcare setting. He attempted to gaslight me that I “looked high” because my pupils were dilated, according to him. I checked my… pupils on my phone & also talked to other staff who agreed that my pupils looked NORMAL. Regardless, there are other likely reasons a patient’s pupils could be dilated such as STRESS or AUTISM or a PRESCRIBED MEDICATION or even an OVER THE COUNTER MED. This incident revealed his ignorance, bias, unprofessional behavior & lack of commitment to science. Furthermore, there is scientific evidence that larger pupils correlate with higher intelligence. He also attempted to give me an example of a delusion and when I said “that’s not really a delusion though,” he looked slightly embarrassed and agreed with me. He also tried to gaslight me about my paradoxical reaction to a beta blocker which I later found out occurred due to a contraindication with another medication that none of these “medical professionals” even noticed. I had to figure out ON MY OWN that I had unopposed alpha adrenergic stimulation from the imbalance of taking a non-selective beta blocker (ie blocking all beta adrenergic receptors) with a medication that is an alpha agonist. He also recommended a mood stabilizer, all of which are contraindicated for my learning disability and my fatigue symptoms, again due to his personal bias and lack of commitment to science. I was also never told in intake that using cannabis is prohibited during the program, even with a medical card and even if it is being used to treat a mental health condition. This is a blanket provision with no regard for the wellbeing of patients. Just a horrible place.

My experience at Mirmont Outpatient Hospital of Main Line Health has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I traveled to the facility two days in a row without access to a personal vehicle, rearranging my… schedule and spending my own time and money, only to be turned away both times for issues that should have been handled internally. On February 26, I was told I could not be seen because I was 15 minutes late. While frustrating, I accepted that and returned the very next day, February 27, hoping to finally receive care. Instead, I was informed by two staff members, including a manager named Sarah, that they do not accept my insurance. This makes absolutely no sense considering I provided my insurance information three weeks prior when scheduling the appointment. I even came in the day before to confirm. At no point during scheduling or confirmation was I told my insurance was not accepted. Insurance verification is a basic intake responsibility. That oversight wasted my time not once, but twice. What made this worse is that Mirmont advertises Uber assistance for patients who need transportation. Not once did anyone initially acknowledge the inconvenience they caused or offer to help me get home after I traveled there unnecessarily. No apology. No accountability. It was only after I explained how upsetting and financially frustrating this was that an Uber was finally offered — and that was at the very end of the second encounter. The fact that I had to advocate for myself after their administrative errors speaks volumes. This situation was completely avoidable. Professional healthcare facilities should have professional systems in place. Patients should not suffer because intake staff failed to verify insurance properly. I left feeling dismissed, inconvenienced, and completely let down by a system that should operate with more responsibility and care for the people it serves. I truly hope this review encourages improvements so no one else has to experience this level of disregard for their time and circumstances. — Arielle Woodard

I would not recommend my friends, family, or even my worst enemies to Mirmont Broomall for treatment. This was one of the most pathetic businesses I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I was plagued through the… entire treatment process with simple business practices that were unjustifiable. It is super depressing to know people go here at a low point in their lives and are potentially treated this way. As a money grab. First, it took the entire treatment period (2 months) to get my paperwork correctly completed. There were therapists that were unhelpful through the entire paperwork process. The therapists refused to read the paperwork, rolled their eyes at me, huffed, and puffed when I kindly asked them for help. The clinical supervisor was just as bad if not worse. She did not hold any of her team members accountable as far as I know. There appeared to be a complete lack of job classification. The clinical supervisor would sit in her office with the door open most days, staring into space, and laughing with her colleagues, as the patients walked around looking for a morsel of help or respect. Straight mockery. No professionalism. If it was not for me having somewhat of a clear mind and educational background, I could see myself failing the entire program thanks to these fools. The educational material in the group settings was helpful when it was there. The therapists struggled at times to bring the group back to common ground. I hear a lot of times, "It works if you work it." This is the only reason I got anything positive out of Mirmont. Simply because I worked the program and on myself to my own benefit. I had to basically beg to be seen by Dr. Izzo or his LPN pawn, Dr. Ron. I was initially suggested by my personal therapist to meet with Dr. Izzo, who never had the time of day to see me. As a result, I met with his pawn, Dr. Ron, who was somewhat helpful. I had to beg anyone at Mirmont to simply help me or do their job. Very sad. I understand that I was not the only patient there and gave my peers all the time they needed for their specific reasons before eventually self-advocating. There was one therapist, Missy, who was a light at the end of the tunnel. Also, the division manager, Lisa, listened to my concerns and dialed her team in when all else was failing. Kudos to these two individuals. See ya never Mirmont!

I've not had any trouble with Mirmont, all staff at this location have been patient and understanding of my needs. On Medicaid and got TMS treatment here and the treater and doctors have all been engaged in wanting to… help me through my depression. I might not have gotten the best luck with THS helping with my depression but not every treatment works for every person and its a lot of trial and error that my treatment team did the best to assist me through.

I REALLY don't understand whatsoever why there's so many bad reviews. I understand all mental health facilities dealing with mentally ill patients will get their bad reviews for undue reasons... But I've been dealing… with mirmont for i guess 5 years now. I've done PHP, IOP and see Dr Ron as my psychiatrist. I've been thrilled every step of the way. Every staff member has been nothing short of fully accommodating to me, understanding, compassionate and caring while still DOING THEIR JOB and helping me be aware of how my in/actions could attribute to my mental health state, and challenged me to be the best, healthiest me I can be. Especially, especially, especially Dr Ron. He literally turned psychiatry upside down for me, in the absolute best way imaginable. He's a freaking GENIUS lol with how he truly looks into each and every little thing-your mood, your side effects, your goals, your history, your functionality, EVERYTHING in your life to truly treat and diagnose you correctly, instead of just playing what I like to call "musical meds" based on whatever rep is paying him most. He truly, and compared to all my other psychiatry experiences, intensely, cares about his patient's well being and quality of life. The front desk ladies have always been kind, courteous and again, accommodating (which isn't easy when you have ADHD out the wazoo and forget/reschedule as much as I unfortunately do) so I don't understand why they have so many bad reviews. I guess I'm just blessed enough to only get the nice ladies on the phone 🙄 LOL. Sincerely, I can't recommend mirmont enough. They have genuinely changed my life, and I KNOW I wouldn't have half the quality of life I have now if I hadn't been with mirmont. I cannot possibly thank y'all enough, again, especially Dr Ron. I hope this message gets passed to him, because I'm not so good with compliments in person 😅 but I mean it. They accept Medicaid (KF) for PHP & IOP, but not for individual outpatient therapy or for psychiatry, unfortunately. Just a heads up for anyone else with Medicaid trying to navigate the convoluted mental healthcare options they cover lol

this place was horrible. Its basically just day care for people who are struggling with no actual assistance. The meds they put me on were so wring for me first of all. Also I was really struggling with panic attacks… and they were not equipped to help me at all and made me feel like an idiot and looked at me like I had 2 heads.

Discriminates against low income patients and does their best to ensure that Medicaid patients can't get an appointment. When I reported their practice to my insurance suddenly they miraculously had an open spot. But… the doctor I saw was rude and unpleasant. Wasnt worth the effort to try to get an appointment.

I wish like hell that I could give this place ZERO or -10! I was referred to this place by Mryn Mawr hospital during a life threatening medical emergency. My appointment with Gracie went well, or so I thought. I… discussed the issues I have been facing and how to navigate through grief, trauma and stress. Next thing you know CYS was knocking at my door! Unbeknownst to me they lied on me!!! They reported that I was drinking and driving with my children in the car. And I was drinking in front of my kids. It ALL WAS FABRICATED!!!! I was ABSOLUTELY LIVID! I NEVER told Gracie that I was drinking with my kids in the car. I would NEVER put my kids, myself, or any other motorists in harms way. Not only am I looking at my kids being taken away, but my professional career and reputation is now at risk. These ppl BLATANTLY LIED to a government agency. Suppose I wasn't strong enough to go through such a thing (thank GOD I'm tough). My kids having to have their lives invaded, pictures of them taken, records sifted through, walking through our home, etc. You turn to these ppl to HELP with confidential and sensitive information, only for them to have you look crazy and turn your life upside down. They use your words against you and make up quite a bit of their own along the way. They twist things to make it fit their narrative. Shame on them! That isn't what this profession is about. God bless anyone willing to seek treatment that this God forsaken evil place. I should've listened to my gut after reading the reviews. Thank God I hadn't stayed past the initial evaluation.

I have been going to mirmont broomall for psychiatry for years. Customer service is great, they are very responsive and it is never hard to get an appointment unlike most psychiatrist offices. Mental health is so… important and my phychiatrist, Dr. Lauren Solomoto, has been nothing but wonderful. She is very attentive and gives excellent suggestions for managing my anxiety not only through medication but through great sessions in which she also provides excellent suggestions for coping with my anxiety and depression.

My experience here demonstrates the dark side of mental health services in the United States. Be extremely careful sharing your personal struggles with depression, anxiety, and fear with the staff here. I had a… disagreement with a staff member that led to me being bullied into a state of hopelessness. You are at risk of being gaslit that your concerns and conditions aren't real and that you're just pretending. The staff proceeded to intentionally misinterpret my words to try to have me locked up in a 302 procedure. I was paraded in handcuffs in front of other patients and staff when I was demonstrably not a threat to anyone or myself. I would be wary of any claims of success made by this organization. Mental health is a challenging crisis for many people these days. The strategy Mirmont uses to "treat" us is scare tactics. You're supposed to come out of treatment learning to keep your mouth shut and pretending that life is kittens and rainbows. Or else. The staff is skilled at providing canned responses that don't feel human. You would have similar experiences venting to ChatGPT. You can tell just how inhuman the communication is by looking at the organization's responses to reviews here on Google. It's copy-pasted generic "we're sorry to hear that" nonsense that does not address any concerns from the patients. The staff has an unhealthy obsession with firearms. You will be constantly asked about whether or not you have access to those. The reason has nothing to do with your safety. That's gaslighting. The real reason is that while you are here, you will be treated as an active threat to other people. The patients aren't monsters. We're all just sad. But you're treated like you aren't just human. It's really sad.

Mirmont outpatient center is a big disappointment. They are just looking for customers for their own financial gain. I specifically told them not to put me in group with men, but failed. A lot of the therapist do not… know what they were doing, and constantly disregarded the needs of other patients.

It's managed like a Business Center. I didn't feel safe to leave my son a 2nd day. I would say that they are borderline, almost insane. They are busy, the Front desk is rude and the nurse doesn't listen. They… transferred me to the her while I was seeking only some advice on what to expect after the first day. No one was available and the nurse acted weirdly like I was in an emergency. I said multiple times no. She lied on the notes and didn't report the call accurately. Hopefully, we have the recordings. I decided to not give the call to my son, they did enough damages and she was somehow insane not listening to a simple request .

I went here for alcohol use, and when I was admitted I was labeled with severe marijuana use disorder, severe adderal use disorder, and severe alcohol use disorder! I told them I have 2-3 drinks a night, and on occasion… (once a week on a weekend a few more) and they said I was a binge drinker! All I was looking for was help to get my drinking under control, because I was dependent on alcohol to sleep... I used everything else under a medical professional's directions & never misused anything other than alcohol. This place is a rip off, and are just looking to make customers! They have you go through the same class, and listen to the same speeches. There is nothing individualized about their recovery approach! I have now been in therapy for a little over a year, and I am getting the help I needed. This place tried to bill me for over $900 after trying to convince me to stay another night because my insurance would no longer cover my treatment! Stay far away from this location!

Psychiatrist does not listen to a word you say. I told him about a specific issue I was having with my one med and he ignored it and decided to try to switch out a different med I’ve been stable on for 6 years because… there’s a different brand HE likes? I told staff I felt dismissed and needed more support and their response was to send me home and discharge me from the program. Thanks I guess? They really acted like this was going to be a very supportive program with constant access to a therapist but it wasn’t until DAY 3 they had me meet my therapist. Otherwise the only real support you will get is from other group members.
