This place is awesome. Shane and Ronnie go above and beyond
I would recommend anyone and everyone to sunrise and or evolve because of the staff and nursing. Counselor Shane especially has been a huge help for me as I felt like I wanted to give up just a meet and couple… interactions had me completely motivated back in the right direction. Very highly recommended place and especially counselor
This place saved my life
Make sure you are on your clinicians of a clear plan of what you want them to do because I just got discharged after the 14 days stay which they do tell you at the beginning of your stay. But them not being able to an… extension for someone who was crying and asking not to be sent to where I was headed (my fathers) and “Giftey” my worker was so cold and showed no sympathy what’s so ever at all! Like if you don’t like your job okay but don’t loose your compassion and stay! It was a lot better over a year ago just saying! They need to come up with a better excuse cause I called my insurance when I left and they said they would have given me an extension! The only helpful ppl there are the nurses and mental health technicians!
They lost my belongings and were unable to locate them. Three other people that were there the duration of my stay also had their property missing. Unsure if it was staff or other patients that took it, but regardless,… unprofessional. Other than that, the food was good.
I’ve been here a few times while working on myself, and I can honestly say this place has improved a lot over the past year. It was always solid, but the changes are noticeable. There have been small things here and… there, and at times they seem a bit understaffed, but it never took away from what matters. The staff genuinely care, and you can feel it. A lot of them are in recovery themselves, and every time I’ve asked for help getting into further treatment, they’ve come through. My counselor Ryan helped me not leave early more than once, and I’m grateful for that. The other counselors were great too. Evolve is run very similarly—great staff and counselors like Ronnie who really help. I’m coming up on 8 months clean, the most I’ve ever had, and Sunrise Detox and Evolve played a big role in getting me there and into a halfway house. It’s detox—I dont think its supposed to be perfect—but if you want help and are serious about getting clean they will help you get on the right path which is recovery 💯
I went there in late august 2024. Bed sheets were dirty upon arrival but I made a fuss and they changed the sheets. Food was really good. 24/7 access to ice cream pb&j & cereal. Tv in individual rooms. Staff was VERY… unprofessional though. Literally they were college kids with zero experience in the field.. I was given 100mg of seroquil every night and every morning so I slept basically 20 hours out of the day for the 5 of 7 days I was there. The groups were bad. Guy didn’t know what he was taking about. There is a sauna type area where people smoke cigarettes but also sneak in weed & other drugs. People have sex there too. A lot.not really appropriate for a recovery facility. & to boot, my ‘case manager’ was so horrible and unprofessional that he asked me if I was being rude to him ‘because he was black’. WHAT???? no I wasnt being rude and if im being rude it’s because of your lack of compassion, care & drive/motivation to get the ball rolling in things me as the patient are forced to rely on you for. The audacity for him to low key accuse me of being racist is absolutely insane. I requested a diff case manger but was discharged before it happens so we just never met again. DO NOT GO HERE!
DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!! They basically overdosed my mom on benzodiazepines when she said she didn’t want to take them they need to be investigated immediately!
If I could put zero stars I would. This used to be a decent place. Now, sunrise is hands down the worst place I’ve been too. Hopefully God is on your side because as soon as you enter the doors your on your own. There’s… a couple staff who care but besides that from staff to cleanliness this place needs to shutdown.
Foods good staff is chill tv in rooms not forced to go to groups for the time your detoxing, once you go upstairs it’s more structured but still better than most places I’ve been
This place should be shut down. Awful experience. Beds were stained and dirty. Bathroom had no toilet paper. No towels were given to shower. Food was not edible. I was basically given so many what they call "confort… meds: to take home that I ended up in umass for almost overdosing on what they sent in for aftercare meds. 6 scripts to me when I was on kone when I got there. The staff also stole 2 of my belongings when I got there and played stupid. I was later informed the guy who did my intake has a history of taking patients vape pens, as he did mine. Please do not send loved ones here, it is not a good place. The ER would be better if another detox is not available. I rarely do reviews but do not want another person to go thru what I went thru.
I am writing to formally complain about the treatment I have received at evolve recovery center facility, which includes negligence, substandard care, and multiple ethical violations. Key issues I have experienced… include: * Medical Negligence: I am on Sublocade and was not properly monitored, leading to days of withdrawal. I had to wait 10 days and actively seek out a nurse practitioner for medication concerns, despite repeated requests. * Lack of Aftercare Planning: With only four days remaining, I have no aftercare plan, no clinic for my next Sublocade dose, and no place to go. My clinician, Raina, used my PIN to sign documents without my consent, violating my right to informed consent. * Safety Concerns: My safety was compromised by another patient. I had property stolen. This individual has a history with the facility, including a past relationship with a former clinician, which is highly concerning. * Neglect: The facility failed to provide basic needs. The washing machine was broken, there was no soap or towels, and I was given an opened, used deodorant. Nutritional options were severely limited. * Patient Rights Violations: The facility made false claims about my insurance and failed to provide me with a full understanding of my treatment plan and alternatives. I have a service dog and no limitations for placement, yet I have been left with no viable aftercare plan. I have requested to speak with a BSAS representative while at the facility. I am still a patient here and require immediate intervention to address these issues, especially the lack of a safe and stable aftercare plan.
Horrible horrible horrible. Don’t take your loved ones here. I’m so concerned about this place.
If you have a benzo script or benzo problem I woudlnt recommend here. I have friends and family who have had seizures due to not being believed in the intake and not being medicated properly. If you have a prescription… for benzos they try and give you and equivalent in Valium that really isn’t an equivalent it is about half the dose. If you take adhd medication they also will not give you it so if you take anything even for migraines if you take fioricet they won’t give it to you. Staff were very rude
These people that was there and the workers got me through and taught me a lot and I’m now almost a year sober thank you sunrise & Megan the director
One star is grossly overrating... This facility is a BSAS nightmare and would benefit from a thorough walk through. Having worked in this field for greater than 15 years, I am horribly disappointed and quite honestly,… shocked that this place remains open. I never received one phone call from a case manager regarding my family member. It is proven that when family involvement occurs, sobriety is more successful. Proper MAT protocols were not followed (I recognize from previous reviews that Sunrise will be condescending in their attempt to dismiss this claim). Drug tests used are not all inclusive... if a loved one is struggling with Klonopin, please seek another facility. And, a Medical Director too busy slinging names around such as "my problem child" to concern himself with the lack of education and compassion that it takes to be in care of someone's life that is actively occurring in his facility. After several calls with (for lack of a better word) ignorant staff in the background, I have concluded that this facility is dangerous. Most of the Case Managers have less than one year of sobriety themselves... you can't even speak at an AA podium with less than one year. They are not adequately educated, can not intelligently respond to questions about their patients, and are even more unwilling to advocate for their patients. Pushing patients to "get on a clinic" just to get properly dosed while detoxing is their solution. The NP was accusatory, withholding proper medication to those that she felt were drug seeking but, somehow missed the patients actually using contraband who later overdosed on site. Two staff on separate phone calls were overheard reporting concerns with the NPs "problem with white people". Aftercare was completely done by me or wouldn't have been done. After greater than 15 attempts over 3 days with holding times upwards of 25 minutes trying to reach a member of the medical team, I requested to leave a message for a call back. The nurse that returned my call, along with the gentleman (Mark) that admitted my family member and a Tech (Dana) were the only competent staff within the facility and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. I am sickened to death to think that human lives are treated with such a lack of knowledge, compassion, and concern for safety in the way that I witnessed. If this facility continues in this manner, I predict a very short amount of time will pass before they close down... I pray that they don't take more lives with them.
To keep things simple, I'll give a grade for each major category and you can take it for you will. Admissions: B+ The staff were friendly and greeting upon arriving, but grossly misinformed me that since I was paying… privately, sans insurance, I'd have complete access to my phone and other devices with restriction during my five day stay. I was told the next day that only if I had paid an additional $1,200 for a private room that would have been possible. Otherwise, the process went smoothly and I had my belongings in a few minutes and escorted to my room. Accomodations: A- The rooms were neatly appointed, with a large bureau beween the plush twin beds, a private bathroom adjoing with a stall shower that provided ample warm water. A 40in Roku flat screen TV centered on the opposite wall. Only complaint would be hearing the exhoes of the excessive noise of other clients slamming their doors. Be sure to bring toiletries because they are very sparce here. Nursing: A I enjoyed the restaurant like pager system they employ that calls you when they ready for you at medpass. The staff was very kind and thorough when diagnosing your symptoms Enteetainment/Acivities: D The detox area has little to none in terms of healthy distractions. The best offerings are tje three daily groups (which 10% attend). The rest consists of smoking, sleeping and eating. The two common TV's are usually occupied by 20 somethings listening to terrible rap songs, gangland TV shows. Bring a couple books and art supplies of your own to get by in the quiteness of your room. Food: B- While it wasn't terrble, it was like having a Stoeffers frozen meal served in a carafe tray. Snacks were inconsistent, like having cereal available but no milk in the fridge. The coffee was above average however.
If i could give ZERO STARS I WOULD!! I sent my cousin here so he could continue to work on himself during his sobriety journey just for another patient there to offer him drugs and somehow bring it into the facility.… After declining and saying he was here to get better, this patient then proceeded to intimidate him. Im extremely disappointed by the way this was handled. People were made aware of the situation and as far as i know the patient wasn’t removed. Thank god my cousin made the decision to leave because he refused to risk losing his progress and relapsing. The staff needs to do a better job of handling patients who are there for the wrong reasons. Multiple patients have also spoken on mistreatment in this facility and tried to pin my cousin against the staff. I understand that this is a voluntary retreat but to let people stay who are trying to ruin other people’s progress is ridiculous.
Place is incredible. The admin staff are rude and lazy. Nursing is great and Christine was an angel I needed at the time. Very grateful.
I was discharged because they found drunk on my roommate they didn't fine any drugs on me or near me then told me I had to figure a way out of there when they are suppose to drive u to the closest train station there's… no groups on recover there are no groups at all ll they only care about a paycheck from mass health
We paid $3000 to get our family member into a safe , medically monitored Center. They called on day six to tell us she was convulsing and being sent to UMASS emergency room. When I got there, she was incoherent and had… vomit on her. They had to give her 2 units of saline because she was so dehydrated. She still tested positive to cocaine and meth. Sunrise has a contract with a cab company and she left UMASS in a taxi. I went to sunrise and they said she had not returned. We checked the surveillance tapes and she was never dropped off even though THE DRIVER SAID SHE WAS!! I had to file a missing person report with the Millbury police. She actually had gone to get some clean clothes and the driver said he would wait- which he didn’t. This facility has a nurse on staff-leading you to believe the patient is safe. PLEASE don’t send your loved one there!!! She would have gotten better care if we put her in a room and locked the door !!!!
Very poorly executed, my husband was admitted at nighttime only to be released 2.5 days later after being told he would stay for 5-7 days. For an addict who is advocating for himself it is a big deal when the facility… doesn’t diligently take it serious when told he is not ready after 2.5days. Mid afternoon told your going home no day before or morning warning that you have completed your stay no careful planning to prevent relapse and no extension offered to ensure proper transition. Left mid afternoon to relapse an hr later. The dangers of doing this to individuals results in death. Yes it’s the addicts choice to use but to think that less than 7 days is enough to help a person have a clear mind to make a healthy choice is statistically impossible. One thing he had was a great caseworker who tried to advocate for him and who was also shocked he was being released with no plan and warning. Good think another place room his cry for help he is now being cared for at a 30 day treatment center who takes his life seriously. Don’t attempt this facility if you are a person who needs person centered treatment and needs more than 3 days to get it.
Sub Par. This was not a great place to be completely honest. They didn't even have towels or hygiene products during my stay. Food was scarce. There was not one, but TWO overdoses during my very short stay (less than a… week). They wouldn't give me a ride home after completing their detox even though they picked me up in the first place. If you have private insurance, don't let this place profit from it. You can do way better.
I’m sad to see anything but 5 stars for sunrise , sunrise has saved my life many times!! John is awesome he referred me to Charles River recovery which is absolutely beautiful !! Just like sunrise. Sunrise is ALWAYS… clean, the nurses are awesome and know what they’re doing because they care ! The cnas as well! They hired staff that cares and I hate to say this , but sadly I relapsed and was put somewhere in April in New Bedford mass call WATC !!! And that place ?? If you think sunrise is bad ?? Sunrise is a hotel compared to any detox I’ve ever ever been. I ONLY go to sunrise because I trust them. Nurse joe is really smart and I believe Christina ?? They’re my favorite ❤️ extremely professional and saved someone there before including me when I had a massive anxiety attack and I have heart issues .. and they got my heart rate down. I could keep going the food is great, the meetings are awesome, but you need to do the work! No one likes feeling sick, but sunrise 100000% makes you comfy !!!! Love you guys I really do I’ll be seeing you soon sadly I hate to say this but I hope you have a bed tomorrow . .. you guys are the only people I trust and detox .. everyone goes the extra mile for a 30 day rehab. !! They have done scholarships before but I’m not 100% I do have blue cross but I know it’s been very busy at places .. and I feel honored to just be at sunrise when I am because I’m not going to die that day or the next 7-9 days before I I find a rehab .. after the rehab they find for me I always get a year clean or even just doing their 7-9 day detox program!! If you’re bored being a book you guys have to know this detox is uncomfortable .. bring paper , colored pencils so that was you can stay in your room when there’s no group, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Anyways this is a long review !! Sunrise has the most comfortable rooms, with a shower , tv, and you get to control the heat/ac, the meds help, food is awesome and they have gluten free options That’s all I need in detox !!
Most of the staff is nice. Shoutout to the nurse Joe. He’s the man. Facility wasn’t that clean and there was less than enough clinical staff but not bad place.
