Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery – Denver Reviews and Ratings
What is Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery like for patients? Reviews in this section, from RehabSeekers and from around the web, describe the program in the words of patients and families who know it.
I want to be clear: the clinical side of Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery (CMAR) is excellent. The group sessions and therapy are top-notch, and the counselors genuinely care. However, their medical coordination… and emergency triage protocols are dangerously negligent. I started my treatment here on July 11th for methamphetamine recovery. During my intake, my case manager, John, assured me I would see the medical team that same day or by Monday at the latest. That never happened, and I slipped through the cracks. Yesterday, at 20 days clean, I was hit with severe, acute akathisia—a crippling neurological withdrawal symptom that causes extreme internal agitation and physical pain. I informed the staff that I was in a medical crisis and needed to see medical right away. Instead of deploying an emergency protocol, I was told medical was 'full' and I would have to wait until 2:00 PM the next day. When I expressed the urgency of my physical distress, I was not met with an apology, accountability, or immediate triage. Instead, I was met with blame and deflection from John, the front desk staff, and the medical team. They completely lacked a protocol for addressing acute withdrawal emergencies, leaving us scrambling to find a Medicaid-covered urgent care to handle a crisis they were supposed to manage. If you are coming here strictly for group therapy, you will get good care. But if you are relying on CMAR for actual Medication-Assisted Recovery and acute medical oversight during severe withdrawals, be warned: their medical administrative pipeline is broken, and when things get critical, they will point the finger at you rather than fixing the problem.
If you are struggling with sobriety & need a sense of community, structure & guidance then this is the place for you. I originally knew I needed help but what I've gained from this facility goes far beyond what I ever… thought possible. Not only am I sober but I've learned life skills to stay sober, to navigate life with all the hardships that are sure to come. My counselors & therapist have left a life long impression on me, incredibly grateful for the way they pour into each of us in an effort to genuinely see us succeed in life. The staff here is incredibly helpful, kind, understanding & welcoming. On my 1st day signing paperwork I felt at ease with Edith, I was in tears & she just made me feel so comfortable & reassured me that I was in the right place. She was absolutely right, this was the best decision I could've ever made for myself, my family & my future. If you're wanting to change your life for the better & actually start LIVING, I HIGHLY recommend CMAR. This was the ABSOLUTE BEST INVESTMENT I'VE EVER MADE FOR MYSELF & the future I've always wanted, forever grateful to CMAR.
Fantastic company
Edith is the first beautiful face you see and she's so welcoming. The whole staff is insightful and they care. They understand where you are and have been and it has made my recovery process from addiction and mental… health reachable and to a place where I know I can recover! I recommend this place for everyone!!!
It’s so welcoming and cozy in here! I’m looking forward to a successful recovery with the help of CMAR in an IOP program. - update- I’ve been going to CMAR for seven months now and it has been a wonderful experience. Im… now in long term recovery and have learned so much about myself and have developed very meaningful connections. Thank you CMAR for the wonderful education and support.

Very welcoming environment! Edith at the front desk is very helpful and has a great attitude! The facility is clean and organized very well. Highly recommend coming here!
Very helpful therapists and good course material to help struggling individuals. I really appreciated working with James. Brought me a lot of clarity about myself. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for help and… ready for change.
Great staff and program! They were good enough to provide recommendations for a friend long after I left. Just fantastic people who are invested in their client's recovery long after your done.
Picking up the phone and trying to find help for the first time was daunting. I knew I needed to change my relationship with alcohol, but I didn’t know where to start. After making multiple calls, I came across CMAR… (Colorado Medicated Assisted Recovery). The first person I spoke to on the phone made me feel welcome and helped me begin my recovery journey. I started in August 2024 and was guided to IOP, which included three sessions a week. I’ll never forget the first time I walked in—I was welcomed right away. James Jackman was the group therapist that day and made me feel comfortable from day one. He would later become my personal therapist, and I owe a lot to him for helping me through my recovery. I came in wanting to change my relationship with alcohol, but I ended up working through so much more—my anxiety, childhood trauma, and the reasons behind my substance use. I learned more about myself and grew as a person in ways I never imagined. After graduating IOP in three months, I decided to continue in OP for another year. Through CMAR, I’ve built a strong sober community and made many close friends. If you’re looking for help, this place is truly amazing.
Tremendous Agency that saved my family — Clients feel valued not judged —highest respect and recommendation for their services.
I love working with CMAR!
I have nothing but the best of things to say about CMAR, I was struggling with my addiction and my parents stumbled upon here it has been the best place to not only me but has also givin my family a place to learn about… what I go through as well facing the struggle I have to face. Upon arriving here Kirsten was very welcoming and very informative with everything to get us started and got us going right away, I got connected with my therapist who may I add is AN AMAZING THERAPIST. But the cool things about CMAR is they have 12 week cycle classes and each class is ran by different counselors which who are awesome therapist in there own way as well. I usually attend Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays groups (evening) (Friday evening) being movie night the groups I go to I live cause I feel they are very engaging and I feel very connected with the therapist who runs those groups those nights as well. I tell everyone CMAR is my safe place and like my second home I’m so happy to have somewhere else to be able to call a safe space when I’m in a low spot! LOVE CMAR AND ALL ITS DONE AND CONTINUES TO DO FOR ME! 💙
So happy to be back at CMAR after inpatient treatment. They're the best!
I just started this week at CMAR and it has been great. The groups are very engaging and the 3 hours fly by, I'm feeling very optimistic. I especially love the Women's group on Wednesdays!!
